What's new

Blog Update.. looks like HTML5 isn't possible, JSK is going to attempt with Unity Engine instead.

Meaning abit of a weird coat of paint of sort.. wonder is it possible to make sure it is as close to the flash animation artstyle JSK usually does...

new post from JSK
as JSK is searching for the next platform to move to since flash is the deads, JSK isn't in a situation to start thinking about the next game.
shoplifter girl and cunning girl (aka kamishiro shion) got their all scene unlock versions because of data reading issues.

For the next platform, JSK looked at HTML5 and realized that it's actually very hard to do stuff in it. Long story short, HTML5 has too many hurdles to leap over.
Therefore, JSK is now looking at Unity engine.
The problem with Unity is that it's kind of unsuitable for producing the usual fight/interrogation style games he's been delivering so far.
That being the case, the next work and beyond will probably be featuring completely different gameplay.
Unity Engine!?

Use the flash projector, is in the mega link, which is in the jsk community guide, which is in delexicus signature in every one of his posts in this thread or the translation one
Just open the .swf with the projector and that's it

I've come a across plenty of visual novel-style games that use Unity, so it's not all that strange.

As far as animation goes, I think Live2d can replicate anything he did in flash.

I didn't wrote that second response, why it appears to me like I wrote it, is this forum bugged or am I gone crazy?

You serious? What part of the community guide do you not understand? Even if you are so blind you can't find the guide, a quick google of Flash Projector and you would find it immediately.

No, I wrote that... No idea why it got merged into your post...

Apologies, I seem to have merged posts from two different users believing it to have been a double-post (you've both got the same color on the default avatar is the best reason I can come up with). I can't separate them.

Not helpful man, If it was too much for you, you could have simply ignored me. Anyway, a more helpful user point me out in the right direction now I know better to never ask for help again here.

I ll put the link here anyway, too bad I have to re play all my games.

So this isn't super relevant for JSK's games, since he distributed everything in .swf files anyway, but if ever you come across games that don't have a main .swf file, but instead use an .html file with flash files embedded (MANY older games pre-2010 do this), projector won't be an option as it can't read html.

What you can do instead is go for a browser that still supports flash, like Opera, do play those html files instead.

Umm... just open the .swf file in that case?

This is my current flash program, if anyone needs it to play the old games

Interesting... Having a flash player that's free of any Adobe or Microsoft kill switches would be great. I'll be sure to provide a link to your HFlash player github on the JSK Community Guide.

You cannot. Some older games do not have .swf files to natively run the game. That point I was making was for older games, not for JSK games anyway. My hopes are maybe this may help a few people in passing, as I couldn't figure out how to do it with any flash tools/workarounds.

Hunh? You said they have an html file but not an swf file?

In that example then
1) You're not dealing with a flash file.
2) You're incorrect that an swf file doesn't exist.

One of those has to hold true. (If it doesn't then please give me an example. I'd love to see what you mean.)
Flash files that are going to run into trouble in the future might be the executable. The exe's.

I had a look at this Hflash player. It's not what I expected. It uses adobe's v29 flash projector with .reg files to register and unregister the flash projector as the default SWF player. Not as useful as I had hoped...

Observe. Here's one of many examples I speak of. I've attached an image to make my point poignantly clear.

This is a game from "Tsujimo ga Machi ni Yattekita!!!", from the series "Bukkake Shakti" (pretty old game).

To play the game, you need to open "Index.html". This will open up the main page, where you can press start and open a new page that will need to have flash enabled. This page needs a flash application to run. The files they point to (seen in screenshot with the red arrow) ARE swfs, but the main index is NOT an swf. Thus you cannot play the game without flash. You CAN (in THIS instance, but not in all instances, as with some games they will just "Grey out") open the individual swf to get individual scenes, but you will not get the text, or be able to follow the story, directly with the swf. Only the main html file allows you to do this.

Now, as I'm writing this, and as you can see in the image, it seems even Opera removed flash from it's browser. Either that or my Windows Update just removed it entirely from the system, so now even that workaround doesn't work anymore. I'm kind of stumped as to how to play these types of games, without this workaround. 3rd party tools make me very suspicious...
