I ran this game the other night with Reipatcher. You can Alt+T when buying consumables to get them without worrying about compatibility.

For status' just alt-t to turn off the translator, open the status menu, then Alt+T again while on a status to get it to translate, very poorly. >.>

Overall a solid game, My biggest gripe, as with most of these games, is that even with full debuffs it's too easy to struggle out. I've never liked feeling like I have to 'let' myself lose to trigger things. (Even with full status effects I could still struggle out without issue.)

Wait, so this translation works with the current full game? Reading the first post I assumed I was going to have to play the game untranslated for now to avoid incompatibility issues and come back and play it again when he finished the full translation. Did I misunderstand something?

This translation works with full game, though content not present in the demo will be machine translated obviously.

Also, setting TextGetterCompatibilityMode=True as mentioned in the post above, fixes both item buying and status effects displaying, so no need to use Alt-T.

Hey guys, it's been a while since I've posted in here so I thought I'd give you all an update.

Since the dev came out and said that an official English update to the game is still technically on the table, I've had very mixed feelings about continuing work on this. I don't particularly mind the time spent being wasted if an official English version comes out - and it will certainly be better than this hack job solution of using Reipatcher, since they will be able to modify the UI elements as necessary where I really can't - but I'm not super excited about the idea of stepping on the devs toes. Now, they have said that an English version would be released as an update, not as a standalone game, so it's not like me working on this is going to rob them of sales or anything, but an official translation isn't exactly cheap to make (time or money-wise), so continuing work on this still has a potentially large impact on the possibility of an official English patch. I certainly would hesitate to spend multiple thousands of dollars to create an official patch when a fan-patch already exists - and that means a lower quality end-product for everyone.

I also realize it's kind of dumb not to finish translating it as I've already given everyone the tools to MTL it themselves by releasing as much as I have. So it feels like a bit of an awkward lose-lose situation for me, where I don't want to step on the dev's toes but I kind of already have, so there's no point in pretending I haven't.

So while I mull over whether I should continue this project in earnest or not, I've decided for now that at the very least I'll make a menu patch. I've already finished translating the item descriptions, stage names, and conditions. I think the only thing I want to finish is the condition descriptions in the menu, as well as the shop dialogue options. I'll also probably slip in the Achievements, though the achievement hints are just an image so that will be harder to do - I might leave those as a separate text file.

Anyways, that's my update for now. If things go well with work this week, then I'll probably get at least a major update done and released within the next day or two.

Damn didn't even really think about this sort of awkward scenario. Whatever you decide will be fine, you've already patched the demo which was honestly more than I expected to ever happen when I heard of this game coming. Thanks for everything!

Ok, I seem to have a bad habit of saying "in a day or two" and then disappearing for months, so before that happens I'm just going to post my current progress so you guys will at least have something.

For those of you who know what to do with it, the text file is attached to this post. For those of you who don't, look at the following spoiler:

-Step 1 > Apply the Reipatcher Autotranslator to your game. If you haven't already done this, download and install the demo version of the English patch in the OP of this thread.
-Step 2 > Download the "Translated Text.txt" file from this post
-Step 3 > Navigate to the game directory. Then go to AutoTranslator/Translation/en/Text
-Step 4 > Delete whatever files are in there
-Step 5 > Put the "Translated Text.txt" file from this post in that folder
-Step 6 > Go up 3 folders (You should be in the folder called AutoTranslator, it should contain two folders and "Config.ini"
-Step 7 > Open "Config.ini" in any text editor (Notepad is fine)
-Step 8 > Find the line that says "TextGetterCompatibilityMode="
-Step 9 > If it says "=False," change it to "=True" If it already says "True," you can leave it alone
-Step 10 > Play the game and enjoy a bit more English than normal

For a brief summary of what this amount of the translation includes,

-Story up to the end of the demo
-All Conditions and their menu descriptions
-All items and their menu descriptions
-Most of the shop (potentially some/many specific item dialogues are missing, but item names and descriptions should be there)
-Virtually all menus and Stage names
-The Gallery
-All achievements (but not the hints to finding them)
-None of the H Scenes

There may be more, but that's what I remember. If there is anything on this list that seems particularly untranslated to you, let me know so I can fix it before I release an actual new version of the patch. When I actually get around to doing it, I plan on finishing the translation of the remaining shop dialogues, probably the bonus gallery in the Achievements section, and from there we'll see how doing the rest of the story seems. And maybe I'll do those H Scenes from the demo that I've been putting off for 6 months.

@IShallRemainNameless Thank you so much for translating this so far, even if I'm eager to learn the full story of the H-scenes and dialogues in general, thanks to your TL I've gotten hours and hours of joy from just the afflictions. Your contributions to this certainly convinced me to purchase the game after trying the demo out. Please keep it up if/when you feel like it !

I feel like you can keep the translation project going. The translation that's "on the table" could take upwards to a year or more to even see the light of day so I'd say not to give up on any of this.

The work is amazing so definitely keep it up ^^

It seems that shop item descriptions aren't all there. They stop after a certain point and I'm not quite sure why that is. They show what they are after you buy them, but not while in the shop

Welcome to the translation thread for Mission Mermaiden!

To get the boring stuff out of the way first,
Game Thread: https://ulmf.org/threads/mission-me...a-sisters-misshonmaameiden-hasumito-no.12651/
Download Link:

This is a translation patch for Mission Mermaiden. It was made for use with the DLSite trial, using the XUnity AutoTranslator to insert text. It is NOT a machine translation. It currently covers the majority of the demo, barring the H-Scenes.

Mission Mermaiden English Patch v0.1

Included in this archive is all the files you need to patch and play the trial version of Mission Mermaiden in English.

1. Compatibility
2. Installation Instructions
3. Translated Content
4. Known Issues
5. Regarding AutoTranslator
6. Credits

===1. Compatibility===

This patch is tested to be compatible with the DLsite demo of Mission Mermaiden. It has not been tested, and may not work as intended, with Ci-En trials or the full version of the game. You are welcome to try, but I have no idea how the patch, or the game, will react. You have been warned.

Save Data for this game is held outside the game directory. As such, if you have multiple copies of the game installed, your Save Data will be shared between them. This raises two important things to be cautious about:

1- Any time you save your game in ANY version, it will overwrite the data for ALL versions. Of course, any version is also able to load data from any other version as well.

2- If you have a future version of the game installed elsewhere (ie a Ci-En demo or the Full Version), you will potentially see save data from parts of the game that don't exist yet in this version. These can be loaded fine, but if you attempt to play content that doesn't exist in this version, your game will lock up. As such, you should not try to play any stages after Stage 2-1, nor should you try to activate any side-effects that come from those stages.

This patch has not been tested with any mods applied, including the difficulty mod. Once again, you are welcome to try, but I can't guarantee any success.

===2. Installation Instructions===

To install the English Patch, follow the following steps:

1- Extract all files into the game's main directory
This should include the folder AutoTranslator (and its contents) and the file SetupReiPatcherAndAutoTranslator.exe

2- Run SetupReiPatcherAndAutoTranslator.exe. You should get a command prompt window that makes a few more files in the game directory. Close when prompted.

3- Run MissionMermaiden (Patch and Run).lnk
This will open the game after patching the EXE.

4- In the future, run MissionMermaiden.exe (the original exe, which has now been patched) whenever you want to play.

===3. Translated Content===

The following content has been translated:
-Story dialogues, up until the end of Stage 2-1
-Base dialogues, up until the end of Stage 2-1
-Menus and Shops
-Item descriptions
-Status Effect names

The following content has NOT been translated:
-Plant scenes at the base
-H Scenes for Stage 1-Boss
-Status Effect descriptions*
-Any images

===4. Known Issues===

1-There is currently a bug with the Status Effect menu. While the English Patch is active, the descriptions for Status Effects do not display in the menu when selected. I do not know why this is, nor do I have the technical skill to troubleshoot it. Unless some kind savior comes to figure it out for us, assume this is a bug that will not be fixed.

If it remains unresolved until the release of the full patch, the full content of the Status Effect menu will be provided in a separate file for your viewing pleasure.

2- I've currently used an incredibly janky solution for making one of the Status Effects display properly in the Bad State Machine. This may cause it to jump out of the Status Effect window during gameplay. I will be attempting to remedy this in the future, but no guarantees.

===5. Regarding AutoTranslator===

This patch uses the XUnity AutoTranslator to insert text.

This is a Unity plugin that automatically runs text for the game through an Internet Translation Service, and replaces the in-game text with the result.

That being said, this patch is NOT a Machine Translation. The Plugin is used solely to insert the text into the game. As such, the AutoTranslate feature of the plugin has been TURNED OFF. Thus, if you find any Japanese text in the game, it will remain in Japanese, instead of spitting out a Machine Translation for you.

Out of principle, I highly recommend you DO NOT use the Machine Translate function. If you wish to do so anyways, use the following steps to re-enable it.

1. Open the (patched) game.
2. Press Alt+0 (alt+zero) on the main game screen. (Title menu works)
3. Under "Select a Translator," choose your translator of choice.
4. Close the AutoTranslator menu.
5. Press Alt+R to reload the plugin.

===6. Credits===

This patch uses the XUnity AutoTranslator (with ReiPatcher) to insert text. It is redistributed with permission.

For more information, including technical support for the plugin, please look at:

For questions regarding the contents of the patch or its future development, or if you'd like to report text in the game that isn't translated that you believe should be, please see the Mission Mermaiden Translation thread on the ULMF.org forums.

As far as future development is concerned, that will depend on a number of things.
First and foremost, I do plan on finishing the remainder of the demo that I can (ie, the base plant H-Scene and the Stage 1-Boss H-Scenes). These will be released once they are ready.
Regarding image translations, these are things that are theoretically possible, and I have successfully managed to replace in-game images. However, I have zero skill in image editing, so producing the translated copies of those images will be somewhat challenging.
I am not especially keen on the idea of translating the Ci-En demos. Firstly because I don't have access to them, and secondly because I don't feel like updating every month. If the release of the full game is significantly delayed, I may consider changing my stance on this, but for now, don't expect any updates until the full the game is released.
I do plan on making a full patch for the game once the Full Version hits. I cannot estimate how long this will take, as it is a factor of how much free time I have to work on it as much as it is of how much content there is to translate.

If there are any issues with the patch (weird behavior, missing translations, etc), or if you have any questions, please feel free to post here. I have done what I can to make it work smoothly, but I am no expert at using Unity or the AutoTranslator plugin. Regardless, I will do what I can to help you should they arise.

EDIT: I have created a bit of a booster shot for the patch. It should make the main game a bit more accessible until I actually get around to making a real patch for it. It can be acquired here: https://ulmf.org/threads/mission-mermaiden-hasumi-and-the-deep-sea-sisters.13754/page-2#post-1116337
Um, I tried following the steps, but I'm a bit confused about the third step... What exactly do you mean by '(Patch and Run).lnk'?

When you run the "SetupReiPatcherAndAutoTranslator" program, there should be a new thing in there called "MissionMermaiden (Patch and Run)", just open that once and after that, you can open up the regular exe and it'll work fine.
Another little side note, remember to turn TextGetterCompatibilityMode from False to True if you have issues with buying stuff after adding the translation

Huh, it didn't show up to me... I'll try again later.

EDIT: Okay, the problem was that I had the whole thing in a folder completely separate from the game. Once the setup AND the game was in the same folder, it worked properly.

Weird. Did you make sure to unpack it and setup where the game's exe is located? Otherwise, no idea on why it didn't appear for you.

Um, hey... I just downloaded the game and have a bug in it... my character won't render. I just started it and I cannot see the MC nor any of her enemies. What do I do to make them, you know, simply appear so the game becomes playable?

The complete lack of any sound-effects once the level actually starts is really jarring.
Is that intentional or a bug?
