Re: Member Announcements Thread

Hehe nice.

I'll have to see how I'm presented, but I was interviewed by our local paper today regarding female gamers (and just gamers in general) about an upcoming con that we're having. It'll be in our Sunday paper, so I look forward to seeing what they do with it.

While I'm almost certain you're not going to like the results... well, there's nothing wrong with having hope.

I'll see what I can do in that regard. I think the paper's online, so I might be able to get ahold of it. If not, well, not the first time I've typed a bunch of stuff out. We'll see.

Given that the paper does a fair job of covering events like this (which is what the article is primarily about) and the fact that the gal writing the article is something of a gamer herself, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

What! What? What.
What?!
Explain, damn it! I am always pro-knowledge, even if that knowledge is bad.

EDIT: Ack. Overly harsh. Sorry. Hinting at but not explaining things is one of the surprisingly few things that legitimately manages to get under my skin.

Re: Member Announcements Thread

A few things due to my prolonged inactivity...

1.) Welcome Back Pale! We all're so glad you're back! (As you can probably tell...)

2.) Aww... Sorry to hear that LDF, I've always enjoyed your company, especially on the older forums... where I was actually involved, heh.

3.) Sorry for the timing, but even though I just started posting again I'm going on hiatus, giving up porn, sex, and masturbation until Easter! Wish me luck! *Blows a kiss farewell.*

Good luck, I know I would die if I tried to do that.

Then again, maybe it's slightly easier for girls?

Re: Member Announcements Thread

I've already been a little meh about the forums recently, haven't been checking it as much, avoiding going into certain sections, finding that there are only a few threads here that even hold my interest anymore.

The Hentai Games section no longer has that special feel of being mostly good games that appeal to the general fetish of those that visit the forum, instead they tend to mostly be Youngmike spamming links and threads, and random lurkers/lurkers with registered accounts replying and complaining.

The Roleplay section, which held me interest for the longest time, has gradually become a cesspool of two general types of roleplayers:
1. "I minmax my characters/I play to win!"
or
2. "Rape meeeeee"
It slowly became less and less enjoyable to play with these kinds of people, and there are far too few people that don't fall into this category, and most of them aren't even online that much anymore and overall, I am losing interest in even attempting to do anything.

The Everything Else section has to an extent become 4chan lite, not going to point fingers or anything about why/how this is happening. I have casually voiced a complaint a few times but as there wasn't really any damage done, nothing resulted. Either way, I avoid that section unless there's something really catches my eye, and even then, I usually click the thread, facepalm, then go do something else. This trend also seems to slowly be creeping over to the blank page section.

At any given time, the forum is generally populated by about 75% lurkers, guests who don't bother registering and are only here to check out the hgames posted to see if we have something that hongfire/hentaipalm/other hgame sites doesn't have yet given our semi more lax rules on posting. A minor annoyance at best, but it slowly builds.

The actual forum goers themselves have, to an extent, isolated themselves into different sections, only briefly crossing over if something piques their interest, which generally isn't much.

1. Hgame Browsers/Posters, people who are just here for the hentai games, like to moan and complain a lot about indie games. Generally don't care enough to associate with group 2, probably think group 3 is crazy, assumes group 4 is 3.

2. Everything Else/Blank Page, people who come by for light banter or to drop something off, then they leave on their merry way. May sometimes go into group 1, generally avoids 3 because it doesn't interest them as much or they think 3 is being creepy. Sometimes wanders into 4.

3. ERP/RP Posters, people who come by to roleplay in one of the various games running, lurks 1 for inspiration, doesn't really care for 2 as they didn't come here to talk, and sometimes goes into 4, then realizes that 4 isn't really roleplaying and then goes back to 3.

4. Lite PBP/ERP Posters, consists of mostly older members who drop by periodically for the simple 'games' that can be done in a single post or so, generally makes their daily post then disappears for the rest of the day.

The lines between these groups used to blur more, and many people in the older forums would cross between them daily. Now it just seems everyone squats in their social circles and gives the other ones an evil eye with the exception of the few social butterflies that float from one group to another.

Overall, the forum has stopped being the fun, semi close knit community that I had grown to love when I first joined. Plus to a degree, I still feel that it was my fault our first home/forum blew up.

Re: Member Announcements Thread

It's already been established that it was my fault, it was my paranoia brought on by my lack of sleep and the crushing reality of how hard uni was that got the forum nuked. And I kind of understand what you mean by the social circles, but everyone will have people they prefer to talk to over the rest of the forum members. Thats one of the main reasons why I stay in MoObe's chatroom and talk to people on MSN. Personally, since even the first forum I've thought that everyone has had their own little circle of friends.

Re: Member Announcements Thread

Yeah what Oni said at least in regards to the social circles. I personally don't really care about the first forum blowing up or who's fault it may or may not have been. Any ways nice knowing you, have fun elsewhere Firi. Sorry if that seems blunt, but there isn't anything I can really say to make you change your mind.

Welcome back Hali, or sort of I guess I should say. Good luck with lent, i myself am giving up smoking and coffee. Since I drink a pot of coffee a day and smoke a half a pack, I'll probably be going insane sometime soon. At least the rougarou won't get me though.

Re: Member Announcements Thread

ronny, if you can successfully stay off cigarettes for a month, I would suggest not picking them back up at the end of lent. Basically, by the time you haven't smoked for a month, you've essentially beaten the addiction. Therefore, it is the perfect opportunity to stop for your health as well as your pocket book.

LDF: I don't know what to say, so I will suffice with telling you to try taking a break for a month or two before you completely give up.

Re: Member Announcements Thread

Well I wasn't planning on starting back up, at least not smoking. Until my brief foray into being borrachon however many months ago that was, I hadn't smoked for about four years.

Re: Member Announcements Thread

As for leavin' LDF, if you're already planning on it, farewell, and I did enjoy your company while it lasted. But in case you're still looking for that little bump up to stayin'...

I remember I was just a lil' shaver on the forums when it died, so I didn't get much of a chance to know you then, but I had definitely heard of you. Frankly all the old forum members had practically reached legendary status when people like Lurker and I were jumpin' on board. So even if its different, I'd prefer if my legends stuck around. ^-^
