Wouldn't Mirror Shield just trivialize that, though?
 
The missile shield thing never made sense to me anyway. I'm imagining a building size creature that grinds you into paste with single claw (of destruction). There is no dodging it, no soaking it, your armor shatters on impact... but that's okay we made a small crosswind. The other dragons can still strike you (or kobolds for that matter) but it is too much for the mightiest dragon to overcome.

Yeah, yeah, popular bug but make it make sense.

Oh I can BS this.

The dragon's senses are already sharp but when using such a devastating technique they sharpen even further in an attempt to ensure the strike hits. Unfortunately they become so sharp that a slight breeze is perceived as hurricane-force winds so the dragon over-compensates and whiffs.
 
So i ran at that fire dragon that tries to kill you at beginning of the game. I killed it at very low level. My entire party stayed alive for about 2 turns and then died except for max who was hiding in stealth at that time. He fired off three more shots from his bow. Then dragon went down xD That was quite funny.

So I've been trying out the English translation and the Gameplay tweaks mods. All in all, excellent work on both. I've only had one crash, and the translation just has a few minor parts that it's a bit spotty in.

But, as I'm playing it, the thought occurs to me: this game is WAY too easy, combat-wise. In my mind, the issue is your party gets too strong too fast. Even the very first quest reward is enough to catapult everyone up to level 9 or 10 on its own. This may sound ludicrous, but I actually WANT more grinding.

I'm just curious what everyone thinks would be a good way to improve the balance. Just inflating enemy HP? Slowing down EXP rewards from quests? A bit of both? Tweaking enemy spawn rates or what types of monsters spawn?

(Also, Wild Bull needs to remain an actual threat, in my mind. His current best is a joke even at mid-game. You basically have to be TRYING to lose heroines to him.)

inflating enemy hp will only turn combat into a slog. types of monsters and spawn rates will only do the same. reducing exp gain both form monsters and quests, that's where the idea is, it's way too high. There's a lot of fights, sure, but not enough for how much loot you're gonna want before you advance too, so often, once you finally get a foot in the door on an area, there's this feeling of wanting to fight for awhile and get some new shit to wear or swing at enemy's faces.

But since the exp is pretty high, it's saying "hey bub, move on" and personally, i'm like "but i saw one gold tonfa drop here, i'm gonna grind for a second, of course." and exp says "dude stop, you're way too powerful now, go to the next place" and i'm like *holds out hand* "where gold tonfa?" and you can switch the tonfa out for whatever else you might be looking for in whatever place it may be.

And, as you said, some of those early quests are like 5-10 levels just right out of the gate. i feel like that should only happen for 2-3 levels just to get you the hp not to die to a local pixie kicking you in the cooter, or a bandit bonking you on the head with a boomerang. Then later quests hand out ... honestly kindof low exp for how late in the game they are.

I like the power of the items, i like the progression of areas, i like generally the monster exp from fights, but the quest exp is bananas for early game.

・Fixed an issue where rings and accessories would sometimes drop when attacked by a crushing claw.
・Fixed an issue where female-only parties would have guests follow them into hot springs fully clothed.
・Fixed an issue where Betrinus Tavern and Kamotei Inn quests could become so numerous that new quests wouldn't display.
・Fixed the status screen frame becoming insufficient when maximizing guests and summoned characters during subsequent playthroughs (increased frame size)
・Fixed an error occurring when selecting hair color (which should be unselectable) in the menu appearing during most Succubus H-scene recollections
・Fixed cases where the game would freeze when a battle ended with only the guest surviving and a treasure chest appeared
・Fixed several other minor bugs
 
The last patch lasted a pleasantly long time. It would be nice if 1.38 (translation patch in thread) lasts until new content is added.
 
You know, playing this game should've made me realized how much we should appreciate the world we lived in.

I mean, in this game world, you really can't go anywhere far in life without spending close to 9k on a Jump skill book AND AN EFFINGDOG OF AN ALCHEMIST to learn it. Well, you could burn on Jump scrolls that cost about 2.4k for a Go-&-Return trips. Further to that, you also need a god knows how common it is, a magical Floating Bridge, or perhaps the more readily available, but still rare nonetheless that cost close to 100k, Magic Boat, and you still need an Alchemy user to learn it.

Next, let's talk about the food. You can spend 120 coins for a croissant. Butter it up with what the salesman says, 100% Genuine Honey, and the price spiked to 290 coins. The funny thing is, a rather common Granny Smith of a green apple cost more than 1k, that is at least 4 times the cost of a bread smoldered with honey! Even Fried Chicken cost less than 1k in the Main City Tavern, and Roasted Beef cost just a little higher at 1.5k. Now, a Melon you asked? That cost more than 1.6 times the price of a Roasted Beef, at a luxury 2.5k.

These, and we haven't talked about how you could be killed by any rando on the street between any two towns or cities. Though, I guess you could do that Flower offering quest and level up the next day if you're blessed enough to be born in Sapphire city.

But all these crazy stuffs still does not compete with how madman of an MC we got, ready to sell off his teammates to a bast*rd f**ker.
I mean, if you suddenly lost your superpower to fight against the Demon Lord, doesn't that also mean you've lost your responsibility to fight them?
**Granted that you have to carry that responsibility in the first place**
Why, for the love of, why can't he just said to the goddess, "F**k this shiet, I'm out!", Why?!
... ( of course I know, this part is just to create a story, just like how your fate sometimes seems so nonsensical, because that is also a piece of your life story. But, still, come on ).

P.S.: Correct me if I'm wrong, but seems like your permanent mercenary can only be Milady in Free Mode. All other guest mercs will only appear for a specific quests.

He could. But he's not fighting Murmur because it's his responsibility to do so. He's fighting her because she's evil and he wants to protect people from her.

He already messed up Murmur's plans several times and killed her.
Murmur will not forgive him and does not leave him in peace, even if he decides to step aside.
 
In addition to that, say he does nothing and Murmur succeeds in her goals.

Demons overrun the land. Humanity becomes a second-class species, enslaved, hunted, and exploited. As he says to Blue at one point, for very strong individuals, maybe they'd be okay, but the majority of humans would not be.

consider the prices to be in yen and it makes more sense how things are priced, especially if you round it off to a 1 yen = 1 cent generous atm value

90 bucks to learn to jump, a buck 20 for croissant, 2.90 got one with honey. 10 bucks for an apple sucks, but that's import tax, yo. a 25 dollar melon is kindof how it is in japan, iirc. /shrug.

also buying a boat for ten thousand bucks? not bad, tbh, one was being sold near me for around that much a few months ago, wasn't even some big fancy shit either.

Well, he was put on the spot due to that princess quest in the first place, but yeah.
But honestly, the goddess could have instruct the kingdom or the princess to go and forcefully capture Blue, turn him into Goblin-Slayer Human Shield, and strut along to fight Murmur or something.

Wait, really? Damn, son...
Though I wholly agree with the Green apples being imported. I mean, to get to the apple orchid, you'd need the Floating Bridge guarded by the Knight Commander! Well, you could also use a ladder, but you'd be risking your life fighting some rando on the street.
Still, you'd need to have an alchemist in the house, unless of course if you decided to just use scrolls instead, you'd be contributing to the Alchemist Society scrolls maker.

Imagine, every pre-schoolers in that world, gather around an old geezer to complete his flower offering quest every year just to level up so that they could survive from an unsuspecting rockfall.
Remember kids, if you throw a rock at someone, it will deal about 10+ point of damage, and if you throw it at a beautiful girl who is not a main heroine twice, her top clothes will tear open. Hitting another two times and she will be stark naked.

And don't get me started on THAT FERNANDO guy.
If the MC is a madman, this guy is an absolute lunatic. I mean, you just had to have that one guy, so bored of life but full of unique creativity, building a multi-layered mansion ( a house is about as big as that Grojean guy house ) without furniture, but filled with large ( possibly useless ) stones that can only be pushed when one wears the Power Bracelet. Further to that, you'd still need to have a Floating Bridge or Magic Boat to get to his Warehouse, and he doesn't even have the mansion layout to give you, so you have to bring your very own Time Switch. That is three super rare, perhaps Unique, items.
