Miranda blinked and then pulled the ivy seedling out from under her coat. With a small smile she planted it in the soil at her feet, and then headed back with the others.

Jack began to walk as well. He was thinking about training - he had a feeling that his current combat skills weren't enough for this. Fear left Cynder nearly completely.

Sen follows them as well. She doesn't really know how to react to this situation. The others were likely preparing to fight, but she had no real experience in it aside from bopping the occasional person with a wrench, and that wasn't ever fatal. Hopefully, she would never need to do more than tend wounds.

Once the group got back to the building they were staying in for the time being, James went up to his room, grabbed a bag that had been stashed out of the way, and returned to the lobby, grabbing a warm drink along the way. He then proceeded to sit down in a chair next to a lamp, and began working through the contents of the bag. These happened to be an assortment of books and papers, none of which were in any danger of winning an award for good handwriting. James' own handwriting was quite legible.

Miranda went up to her room and fiddled with some of her projects and shed her heavy, cold weather gear, before coming back down in a light t-shirt and loose cargo pants. To anyone that looked close enough she was also clutching a book in one hand, that she proceeded to sit in a corner with and read.

Jack didn't leave his room like others. He wanted to study a bit, and he liked to be alone while he was reading anything. It decreased the chance that he'd be interrupted by someone.

In the mean time, deciding that, if she had to be in the presence of something inhumanly quite, she might as well fiddle around with her strawberry plant. With that, she moves up to her room to start toying around with slight variations of the alchemical circle on the plant's pot.

As soon as Max enters the building he darts up to his room to start a very delicate process of creating more high explosive gunpowder mixture.

After a while of his searching, James had managed to sort the papers and books in the bag into two piles, the larger of which ended up going right back into said bag. The other set, he began to go through much more carefully. Occasionally, he'd start muttering while reading through one. As soon as he finished with one book or paper, it would be placed right back into the bag.

While the papers seemed illegible, except to James, they didn't seem to be related to alchemy.

Miranda looked over the top of her water alchemy art book, annoyed at the noise James was making, "What are you doing?" she asked, a little rudely.

James looks up, apparently unaware of the fact he'd been muttering. "Trying to find an answer for earlier in my late broth..."

He paused, likely realizing that he'd pretty much said something he wasn't intending to. "Um...There's a reason I was able to positively identify Kane Metras earlier...These are the notes he made before he went totally bat-shit."

Miranda narrowed her eyes shrewdly at his slip up and put two and two together. "His notes hm?" she decided to not say anything, "Well I'm glad you could id him. Does the Colonel know about the notes and your..." she cleared her throat, "Past knowledge of him?"

James nodded. "Yes, he knows about the fact that I had my last name changed from Metras. And I would guess that he knows about the notes as well...Like as not, I'm the only one who can read them anyway, Kane never could write for shit."

Miranda gave a short nod, "I'm glad to see there's someone here that can figure this out. And if the colonel trusts you then so do I."

Suddenly a loud explosion comes from Max's room followed by him shouting "Aww crap!". For a couple of minutes the sound of someone beating wet fabric around could be heard though it soon quietened down.

James' reaction to the explosion was to put down the notes he was looking over, and place his left hand over his eyes, rest that elbow on his knee. He then proceeded to shake his head slightly. "Not again..."

Jack left the room and joined James and Miranda. He seemed to be rather grim - apparently, he expected more accidents to happen, and his room was quite close to Max's room. Cynder sat down on one of the chairs available and began to read the book his brought with himself.

The rest of the day, as well as the night, passed...Thankfully without any more explosions.

When the others in the group woke up, and eventually made their way down to the lobby area, they'd find James, still pouring over the assortment of notes. Anyone looking carefully at him might notice that his eyes seemed to have hints of bags under them, as if he hadn't slept.

Jack entered the lobby, yawning. He stretched and looked at James, then approached him and took a closer look. Cynder sighed and shook his head. "You know, pulling an all-nighter after something like that last night probably isn't a good idea..."
