Re: Toon... champ deciding to 'pay-and-play'.

I'm just going to hold on to hope that people will say "Fuck off, we are not paying for something of this quality." and leave it at that until he gets the message. Then again... looking at recent gaming trends and what games sell the best... :(
Pretty much says it all.

His games are far from the black lilith quality.

Heck, slavemaker >>> any of his games, and those are just still images.

Re: Toon... champ deciding to 'pay-and-play'.

I really wanted to make this game but the support doesn't seem to be there.
Nykka's game and 6 Bit Pixelforce will be completed but I can't guarantee I will release them to anyone
but whoever commissioned them. The Invasion of the Nucleus Nine, Darla's Game and Cracklevania 2 as of now are cancelled.
Which is sad because Nucleus Nine was over half done and most of Cracklevania 2's coding was also done.
Porn isn't as fun to draw as it used to be. It's probably because I have to draw so much of it in a ROR game.
It's not worth the time and people don't seem to be worth the effort.
I will still make games though, just not "Run or Rape" games.
Welp, Looks liked you guys finally won. Can't say im suprised though... It was slowly going down hill with all the new members asking for updates and then jumpping back into lurk mode. Sad... I was one of the ones donating too.

Re: Toon... champ deciding to 'pay-and-play'.

I personally love RoR games and think they're the most fun and interactive, and because of that, have a deeper sexuality to the action. That's one of the reasons I liked his games, I just kinda didn't like the person behind it, partially because he takes things personal but that doesn't have to do with his games. Seeing that "people aren't worth it" is part of his reasoning kinda proves that he takes things too personal, but I am saddened to hear there's one less RoR artist in the world.

i think you've pegged us wrong here, even the people with an intense dislike of toon pimp don't actually want him to stop making games.

Re: Toon... champ deciding to 'pay-and-play'.

. . . Yeah, like I said, I'm all for TP making money and all, but this is just jackassery to me.

"I really wanted to make this game but the support doesn't seem to be there."
-The support of the people, or of their money? I'm guessing money. Even though it's supposed to be FREE.
"Nykka's game and 6 Bit Pixelforce will be completed but I can't guarantee I will release them to anyone but whoever commissioned them."
-It's not HARD to release it to others, so my guess is there's something more than just 'I don't wanna' going on... then again, this IS TP... bah, idc, those games'll wind up on the internet either way.
"The Invasion of the Nucleus Nine, Darla's Game and Cracklevania 2 as of now are cancelled. Which is sad because Nucleus Nine was over half done and most of Cracklevania 2's coding was also done."
-I guarantee he quit in order to spend time on more 'profitable' games.
"Porn isn't as fun to draw as it used to be. It's probably because I have to draw so much of it in a ROR game.
It's not worth the time and people don't seem to be worth the effort."
-The drawing, maybe, but the people? he has HOW MANY people willing to pay for games? Yeah, it's not about people not being worth it, it's that he's not making money on his free games.
"I will still make games though, just not "Run or Rape" games."
-'I am tired of making RoR games and wish to try something different... as long as I can make money off it.' Yeah, I doubt he's done with the RoR games.

Re: Toon... champ deciding to 'pay-and-play'.

From ToonPimp's site

First off, I would like to thank the people that donated to my cause, because of you, I will continue to make
ROR games. My next game was going to be Cracklevania Legend but instead it will be Nykka's Game.
No, It won't be the same game that was posted in it's own thread, instead it will be a completely different
game made in flash rather than game maker.
Will this be my last free ROR game? Probably not. There are people out there that truly care
if I make games or not. It is those people that I make games for and as long as they are around I will
try to make almost all of my games free. I may have overreacted in previous posts, but it happens,
I'm human, I make mistakes, just like everyone else that visits this site.
Even if I do somehow switch over to some kind of pay format, this forum will remain here and remain free.
If it were up to me, I would make all of my games completely free, but life dictates that I need money to live.
I'm also putting up a blog dedicated to the development of Nykka's game. If all goes well the game should be
pretty large. If you have any questions, let me know.

Re: Toon... champ deciding to 'pay-and-play'.

I just don't agree with TP's mindset. For me, coding and creating a game is its own joy; I don't give a damn what anybody else thinks about it. Whether or not it's making me any money doesn't make a difference. Creating games is to me like sports are for jocks or movies are to movie buffs or donuts are to fat kids... I enjoy doing it as a source of entertainment, it's not a means to an end. I feel like TP is just a publicity whore; you can tell when the developer(s) has put thought and feeling into his game, even when it's small, it's easy to tell that it was lovingly crafted. TP's games don't feel like that. I feel like he's feeding off of the attention he gets by making those games. Even if he does go pay-to-play, he's still the same mediocre designer, not making games because he enjoys it but because it's a means to an end.

Even through all that though I don't really hate him, I just don't respect him. If I had to pick someone to hate I would pick the people who idolize him as the second messiah.

Re: Toon... champ deciding to 'pay-and-play'.

Personally I was looking forward to the sequel, I had fun with the first cracklevania and was looking forward to the improved sequel. I have to agree his "reasons" are weak at best, who the hell bases their decisions off of maybe a dozen people whining in a thread. It's like doing an election poll at a gas station in the middle of nowhere. I recall a family guy joke "Gentlemen we got 10 calls about people offended by TV. And we all know one call equals a billion people, so 10 billion people were offended!!!" You can't trust the internet man, it's in the rule book!

I think one of the funniest thing I find about him is that he actually address his 'fans' as kids.

Re: Toon... champ deciding to 'pay-and-play'.

I think the main issue is he's trying to make it his livelihood, I mean it'd be a awesome way to make a living but when taking on 4 projects at a time makes you run out of the house screaming "I can't take it anymore!!! I quit!", time to make it a hobby and just work on what you want.

in the end all his games will be pirated and just about everyone will have a copy so i dont really see what the big deal this is.

Re: Toon... champ deciding to 'pay-and-play'.

i think the largest kaffufle is the opinion that people round here have of toonpimp, as opposed to his games. as much as some people may not like him, i think its reasonably universal that its better he has existed than otherwise.

No one said they wanted him dead. We just want him to stop being a dick.

Exactly, we love his work, just not the artist's tantrums.

Re: Toon... champ deciding to 'pay-and-play'.

ya but as a member of hentai key isn't she asking money for her work? or is more like paying to rent a video?
No, the thing is, Z0NE makes the epic flashes of awesome, and a lot of them are in the Members section of Z0NE's website; which you have to Pay to get into.
Thus, you are paying to see copyrighted characters get pounded senseless. Since he refers to them as parodies, he is safe.

I think it's also a matter of Zone acknowledging that he doesn't own the copyrighted characters as well while TP does nothing of the sort.

its just these need to be said as toonpimp supporters come here and bitch that we "finally won" and i feel the need to set the record strait on that. we didn't win, we still lost.

and quite frankly my dear, i don't give a damn.

It's not about winning or losing. It's half overreaction (which he was the bigger man for admitting) and hero worship, which makes others 'take on the feelings' of others... without even knowing the entire story. Hero worship is unhealthy. Fandom is good though. Hard for me to explain.
