Re: Games Discussion Thread

In response for Killing Floor not giving me the Flea Circus achievement after TWO completed rounds of Abusement Park, and thus not giving me Steampunk Foster:

"Bug off you wanker."
I think the achievements used to be bugged. Everything's working fine now and I've been rubbing off to steampunk foster for the past two hours.

And by that I mean I've been playing firebug nonstop and ruling at it.

And by that I mean I've been playing my level 5 medic because I hate fire in this game. I just end up burning myself and my teammates and make everything hard to see. :(

Meh. If I remember right, I did fine with Firebug. Only problem was people running in front of me.

Now, Demolitions, THAT was my class. Rockin' that M79 and a bunch of pipe bombs.

I always rather liked the Commando personally.

I like being the medic who sticks strange needles into the commando.

Indeed. Next patch after my bitchfest fixed the achievement issues. And personally, I prefer either Medic, Commando, or Berserker, especially just with grinding my perks up.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Commando seems to get the job of cleaning up the trash. Large clip, fast fire rate, not really high damage weaponry. Seems to be suited for taking out small zeds and keeping the battlefield nice and clean so that sharpshooters and support specialists can deal the real damage.

My medic is level 5, but level 6 feels so far away, I'm trying to pick up a different class and I'm not sure which. I've been using firebug since it's the only perk at level 0. For some reason, shotguns just keep calling to me and I play support spec. if I'm not playing medic.

Or maybe I'll just go back to not playing Killing Floor at all. Decisions, decisions.

Commando is definately a middlegrounder. Just strong enough to help finish the big guys off with the Scar, but not quite enough bite to kill em off immediately.

Firebug's tricky in general, as it relys on DOT and is effective at obliterting anything smaller then a Bloat, and can slow down and 'crisp' (aka stun) bigger ones. However, limited range and once again no real damage bite unless you mash the fire key, which both wastes ammo and tons of kickback. I have a preference with firebug, meself.

And yes, shotguns as it stands are the killing gods :3

I finally got Killing Floor. It's lots of fun, but I've found that trying to play solo when you don't know the levels or mechanics is an extremely bad idea.

However, playing Solo on Beginner is one of the better ways to learn. I'm assuming you were playing solo on Normal?

Yep. I usually get through the first wave, and then die halfway through the second.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Dude its not that hard. Seriously. Just keep moving and keep your ears and eyes open. I can get through a hard game up till maybe wave 8 on solo, so it IS fully possible. Also, a more recent gripe with Killing Floor, The fuckers who foudn out about the Dong bell climb-up glitch in Abusement park who abuse the shit out of it just to survive. Fucking Skill-less Pussies.

Damn Steam and their franchise sale for Command and Conquer. Ended up buying them all because they were £3 each. Picked up Audiosurf and Sanctum as well.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

And now for something completely different.

Another zombie roguelike, like the one I posted before, except this one is way more advanced. Z-levels (floors, like, first floor, second floor, basement), crafting, bionics and mutations, all sorts of shit.

It's a little more complex to set up than the usual "unzip and play" for a roguelike, but the roguebasin link has another link to a step-by-step guide for it.

It's not that hard for people who have played it before.

For those who haven't, even 'Normal' can give you a hard time.

Not saying there aren't people out there who can make it through 10 or so waves on their very first go, but this game is difficult when you're starting out fresh. Especially if you're going it alone.

That and the fact that all the weapons are more expensive and your classes aren't nearly as effective yet.

I'd personally Recommend Medic if your braaand new. Watch players who know what they are doing, and just heal with the needle and be useful. Let your friends do the big murdering, just keep sticking the needle in their ass and take notes on how they act and react. You'll catch on Fairly fast.
