Re: Games Discussion Thread

Some days, are just fun times in League of Legends.

So, I try Warwick out. Early game, not so good (wrong rune page for jungling).
Got jumped by enemy Warwick (who wasn't jungling and nobody called MIA, always lovely) and died once to mobs. Katarina on my team bitches about how much I suck for a good 5 minutes. Managed to come back from that, though.

And now is where the fun begins. So, I have an Olaf on my team. He decided that he wanted to stick with me once the ganking started.
OH THE HUGE MANATEE. ......I MEAN HUMANITY.
Two AS + Lifesteal (brolaf got Bloodthirster) champions, just ruining EVERYBODY'S day. Made more hilarious by the fact that I mostly went soak and got a Frozen Mallet. ON TOP OF HAVING RED BUFF. So yeah, Brolaf was doing most of the damage. But that was 'k, 'cause Jungle Warwick + Fed Brolaf = fucking giggles.

Made one guy on the other team rage-quit, and the others surrendered right before we blew up their Nexus.
Also, at the end, the Katarina that was bitching about me went 2/10/10.
I went 12/5/30. OWNED.

So what do you guys think about the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer?

The general idea is that you get to play as a random "fighter" I guess, who's goal is to defend or take control of a certain location, which depending the outcome will reflect your main story as Shep. I guess these alternative characters are not anyone special, so no Shep or Garrus or whatnot.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

I did not know about this. I do not like being forced to play multiplayer on games that should be SINGLEPLAYER ONLY. For fuck's sake, if I wanted to play an MMO I'd go do that. STOP TRYING TO FORCE GAMERS TO BE SOCIAL. I play video games because it's an activity that I can do ALONE.

The last two Fable games pulled this bullshit, of course they had to have multiplayer cheevos, and god forbid they were easy, 2 wasn't sooooo bad, but 3 was fucking rediculous, collect every piece of gear? fuck you fuck you fuck you.

Perhaps I'm over-reacting, I hope I am. But I'm sure that they'll find a way to make this ass-hattery something I have to suffer through.

They're putting multiplayer back in now? Last I heard they weren't putting it in.

Moneynew just needs to make FABLE: THE MMO for PC and be done with that part of his madness, so he can focus on making the console FABLE games single-player oriented.

Some interesting aspects to the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer. A four player co-op mode where you can either take control of one of various NPCs, or make a new character for the game. The impact on single player is that succesful missions raise the galaxy's ability to combat the reapers (failure I'm guessing does the opposite).

Dev's have also said that it's not an essential part of the game, just making a larger scope essentially.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Reminds me a little of the...oh what game was it...Eve? Gah, I can't remember. But it was a game they were releasing for PC and for consoles and they actively affect each other. Like, the PC version takes place in space and the console version takes place on the ground and by, say, taking over more territory on a console, your faction in space gets access to more materials, troops, etc etc. whereas getting stronger in space gives your faction the ability to better support the troops on the ground.

I can agree a little bit though. I f'ing hate online play and it is definitely not a selling point for me. If a game has it, it makes no nevermind to me, but if a game *requires* it, there's a good chance they're not getting my money.

I'm just glad that it's a choice and that it doesn't directly affect your Shep or your crew. That was my only fear, that somehow my Shep would have to interact with story elements that were being manipulated by other douche nuggets. In essence it still sounds like that, but not exactly... Nothing's "being manipulated", people are just working together to basically make a choice between two elements. That doesn't sound so bad...

That is EVE, except the console version isn't out yet. It's gonna be called DUST 2140 or something like that. When I saw the reveal trailer it seemed like a rather generic FPS. Though when I found out that you made a mercenary group to be hired by players of the PC MMO to take over planets... then I was intrigued.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Picked up Rage after hearing Occ talk about it. His review is spot on, of course. Just thought I'd chime in about some of the mini-games, two in particular, and the cheevos related to them.

The first being a dice game, fairly tame. However, there's an achievement for it that's pretty much the equivalent of rolling 4 6's out of 4 dice on your first throw of a game (you get 3 rolls). I can't imagine how much hate I would have for this cheevo if it hadn't popped during the 30-45 min I spent just rolling the dice to get it. In my opinion, cheevos based on random dice rolls are lazy and stupid.

The second is for Five Finger Fillet. I found the 5th and final round incredibly hard, being that the 4 rounds before are a set pattern and this one is done RANDOMLY (and more often than not, it choses spaces directly next to one another, giving you little to no time to prepare, and after almost 2 decades of button mashing my thumb is starting to move slower). However, I discovered a cheap trick to beat it. Place a finger from your left hand on the pause button, and hit it at the same time you hit the A button. This shows the next spot where you're going to need to stab and pauses the game giving you plenty of time to prepare. It might take a couple tries, but fuck trying to do it the "legitimate" way.

WHY?

Anyway, wanted to pick up Arkham City at midnight launch, but also wanted the collector's edition. By the time I got there they were all sold out, but they took my number and told me they'd call me if they got more in. I imagine this adds a few more days before I can be vengeance, or the night.

I'm hoping my copy of Arkham gets here tomorrow, it should but I don't want to get my hopes up just in case. This'll actually be the first game I've ever pre-ordered but if it's even half as good as it's predecessor it'll be worth it.

It's apparently being received quite well, and was carrying a 95% score on Metacritic at last check.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Because they are there. And reeeeeeeally bother me. Besides, when I started playing the five finger one, I didn't know it had a cheevo. But once it got to the point where I wanted to kill the old man and throw my controller at the TV, I knew there had to be.

Re: Games Discussion Thread

Ooooooh! Because I can't remember how to spell achievements (durr me) and I was in a bit of a rush when I posted. I've seen it used as an accepted slang term on game forums, so I thought it would be fine.

So, Iron Grip Marauder's started working on it's first major (as in ties into a broader story) questline, as well as squished a predominant amount of the bugs in the system. Good tiems.

Also, Dungeon Defenders is teh awesome ^_____^
