The only war the United Stated of America has officially lost was the war of 1812. The British say that it doesn't count as a win for them because of how the colony was run at the time. In the war of 1812, the United States began a quest of conquest, only to be pushed back. The defenders battled the Americans all the way to Washington DC. where they set fire to the White House. Then bored, they then went home and got wasted.

That colony eventually became what is known today as Canada.

I prefer "we gave up", as we had nothing to do with the last two years of it. Well, ok we had stuff to do with it, but basically left South Vietnam on their own.

Incidentally, the Mig I saw Saturday was painted in South Vietnamese colors...
