Re: Dragon Hunter D

i know thats a little offtopic but:

in the last 15 years of using pcs i got round about 3 viruses, one of them destroyed some data, other ones were just about "format c: 40 minutes of reinstalling". when i bought my new pc the preinstalled antivir bugged me every 10 minutes with popups, kicked me out of games, crashed my browser while watching movies and just stole a lot of my time, stole a lot of system resources and successfully killed a lot of my nerves.

so now the question. what is a virus supposed to do? and why is anti-virus software different?

by the way, i never used a firewall or anti virus software in those 15 years of getting the huge amount of 3 viruses, so "it protected you from more viruses" does not count as an argument.

i prefer to keep one pc away from the internet with my valuable data and use another one for downloads/surfing/games ... so i am able to lay back and laugh at those idiots wasting their time in coding and hacking and shit trying to destroy some stuff that is probably totally safe anyway.

on topic: i'd like to play that game, too, one day :3
why is hongfire gone for so long T_T

Re: Dragon Hunter D

antivirus and firewalls are for clicking iffy sites and links >.>

Re: Dragon Hunter D

why would anyone click those?

maybe i would consider this topic otherwise, if any malware/virus afflicted more "damage" than anti-virus softwares. but to me it does not seem that they ever will.
or maybe im just a lucky bastard for not getting into trouble while surfing on dangerous sites like www.ulmf.org lol

Most of the things you'll find online are actually trojans, made with the intention of turning your computer in a "zombie" (so you'll make a part of a botnet that does what the creator want, like attacking some server) or steal information. If the creator of one of those is any good, you probably wouldn't notice if you had them.

That's the major point in anti viruses. Though I believe most browsers today are good enough to prevent those trojans from auto-installing themselves (I believe IE still has a lot of these sorts of holes, though), so the only way you'll get one is by downloading it and opening yourself.

(The ones that make the obvious "oh hai thar user, i just dstroy ur data haha" are probably just playing around)

Re: Dragon Hunter D

I'll post a link and attachment this time, we will win!

Extract the zipped rar parts from the attachments into the same folder and join them with HJ Split.

Thank you very much.

I'm new to these forums, and I do greatly apologize for necroing the thread...
Though, that being said, thank you very much AceofWind ^____^

Win32/Zbot.G
I trust you Ace, I'll try myself to get rid of that.
But if you find anything on your own pc and manage to get rid of it - a reupload would be nice then

I, too, am getting this bug TT_TT

Also, when I try to run the game app, it tells me

"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item"

Even when I run as an admin @.@

use bottom 4 or key x to attack
for 1 hand sword, first hit is up + 4 then right + 4, possibly try more combine can continuous hit, but max around 3 or 4 hit

Re: Dragon Hunter D

Well, since I didn't want to necro this, but seeing as it has been done for me, anyone have a valid link or torrent? I can't seem to find any I really trust...

I'm going to try to reupload this again after I scan my copy again first. In the mean time, I'm going to delete the attachments I posted because I did have a virus infection at the time I posted this that replicated itself into a few exe, dll and html files I had on my system that Trend Micro couldn't find.

I sincerely apologize to any of you who may have gotten infected from my mistake

Re: Dragon Hunter D

O.K guys, prepare your anti-virus just in case I was unable to find any viruses in this.

Re: Dragon Hunter D

It is not a virus. ;)
You must change the file "Game" in the folder.
Open the file "Game" and use the text from Spoiler.
[Game]
RTP=RPGVX
Library=RGSS200J.dll
Scripts=Data\Scripts.rvdata
Title=DRAGON HUNTER D
"RTP=RPGVX" is missing. :D

Re: Dragon Hunter D

Malware Bytes didn't detect any sort of virus. And it works with AllGirl's fix. Finally able to play.

Re: Dragon Hunter D

Still doesnt work :)

I think i got lance/shield as weapon and lets assume battle starts...

i press Y(Z) on attack and im now in "select enemy to attack" screen. Do i press UP+X now or when attack starts? you need to time it or?

I think when the attack starts? It's been forever. Also note that not every weapon uses the same combos, I'm pretty sure there's an in-game menu that displays them but I don't remember where it is.

Re: Dragon Hunter D

I'll just copy this from the thread I replied to sizu:

Things about Dragon Hunter D people might not realize:
First, you can play it like a traditional RPG and be weak, OR you can learn to COMBO!

You heard me, you can actually combo in this game! Just like Monster Hunter, certain moves can link into each other.
To start with, by hitting direction + A, you start doing these combo moves, which consumes stamina (unlike the basic attack), but since you can link them, it's useful for killing tougher enemies (when you're facing multiple monsters, your attacks will hit the next enemy if the first die during the combo).

This is the basic Sword and Shield's moves (other weapons are listed under the note page in-game):
(the -> means it link to those numbers)
(name are given by what I see in game, might not reflect actual properly of the attack)
1. Up + A: basic slash -> 2, 4, 5
2. Right + A: upward slash -> 3, 4, 5
3. Left + A: downward slash -> 4, 5
4. Left Right + A: spin slash sideway -> 5

5. Down + A: Guard (reduce all incoming damage until you do an attack)

You could try looking at the beginning of the thread or something... though I can't get number 4 to go off, holding both down doesn't seem to work.

Suppose it's nice that the creator kept the spirit of the original game, but it's difficult to pull off combos without some sort of indicator to let you know when it's time to input the next command.

Anyways, thank's for the re-up Ace.

Actually, to nitpick... RGSS200J.dll is missing.

The game was distributed with the RTP included but for whatever reason RGSS200J.dll has been removed from the upload.

You can either edit the ini file to point to the RTP as suggested, or you can copy RGSS200J.dll into this game's directory from the RTP or another game that includes it.

If you have the RTP installed and edit the ini, you can also optionally delete a lot (but not all) of the files in the game's subfolders as they are basically duplicates of the RTP files. The RTP files all have a modified date of 28/11/2007 (except the font, which is also safe to delete).

Sorry about that, I deleted it because it was corrupted on my system and since these game usually load up the dlls from the installed run time packages, I didn't think it would be a problem. I uploaded a copy of the dll as an attachment in a different thread a while ago.
