Re: Bondage Corner

Um, why would it be? There's an intentional pun there, but otherwise no.
Interesting.

It just bugs me a little that there has been so little actual research into the psychology of sexuality. It seems to be such a very fertile field, and no one ever does anything about it.
I see waht you did thar.........i think...

but yes i agree with you it could be very informative and possibaly give more insight in why people like waht they like about it

Re: Bondage Corner

I think aside from human development, there's been no more studied subject than that of sex.

XD I am TMI incarnate, I think.
Do tell, I'm curious, intrigued, and (most likely) into it ;)

Really? I know of very little in the way of scientific research into the psychology of sex. Biological, yes. But not so much as far as psychology goes.

There's a shitload. As a psych major, we tend to talk about sex a lot. And even though my school is not known for psychology, there are three different psychological-based classes specifically about the subject of sex. 4 if you want to count a crim course based on the psychology of sex-offenders.

Hm. Alright. I guess I should look into it in greater depth.

Re: Bondage Corner

If there's any problem with it, it's the fact that science outdates everything quickly. To the non-psych, freud really put a lot of work towards the field of psychology, a genius reinvention, bringing the study to the forefront of medicine and treatment. To most psychologists and students, freud was a dirty old man whose ideas have been majorly overwritten in everything.

There are endless studies on sex, but most of them were past studies that were done in flawed ways, like personal surveys which favor a certain group of people or retro self-reports, which would give some of the most inaccurate information you can get. Because it's such a diverse subject, it's hard to get random collection that really represents the population. Despite the difficulty though, they'll always tend to push forward and get whatever information they can on the subject. It is almost the epitome of the psychologist motto: "Individual variances"

Heh. Believe me, Freud and Kinsey were two of the reasons why I didn't think there was much research out there. My opinions were that Freud was more or less a joke and that Kinsey, while groundbreaking in many ways, suffered from small sample sizes and a sample base that pre-selected itself.

Very true. They just happen to be popular cuz it was ground-breaking at the time.

Today though, I equate it to that one episode of Futurama on Blernsball, where the girl Jackie Anderson said something along the lines of "Leela, it turns out you were a great inspiration. It made other women want to prove we all don't stink like you."

Re: Bondage Corner

Woah, if you don't mind me asking, how old are you? I was pegging you in the early 20s ^_^
I am, but we started dating in highschool.

@ Goldstien: the biggest thrill for ms is the lack of control. For a lot of people, that5 lack of control stares them. For me though, it I am with someone I know and trust (or all by myself, which brings other factors into play), that fear of the unknown turns to anticipation. Plus when you climax, I tend to thrash a bit. Thrashing against the immovable bindings ads to the excitement, and for me at least, adds to the orgasm, making it more powerful IMO.
This! I think the hottest sex... or, well, not quite sex I've had (damn echo-y rooms and building, along with paranoia about getting caught kind of put a damper on things) was getting restrained by two people strong enough to really thrash against. Sometimes it's nice to be submissive but sometimes it's more fun to be a pain in the ass to finally pin down and get to business with! Ah, wrasslin'... Rope's good for the same reason, and probably more diabolical in the long run.

Re: Bondage Corner

That'd be because we went to different high schools. XD We met over the net and realized that we were, gasp, in close proximity (her last bf was in Australia so it was kind of a miracle.) and shared a lot of the same interests... so we started hanging out, then eventually began dating. It was all impossibly high-school, yuri-style 'awwwww' as far as I remember! If it weren't for the fact that I know it couldn't possibly be true I'd swear to god that there were sparkles and wibbling eyes involved. D:

Re: Bondage Corner

the psychology of sex is something i studied shortly and then realized something very important.... I like sex, sex is good, why question a good thing, and so on and so on until i realized something. It's better (for me anyway) to simply enjoy wht i enjoy than to delve to deeply into it. I find that if its something i dont have to think about while im doing it ( and the intense study of the motivations behind sex means that at some point or another you will think about WHY you are having sex) i enjoy it exponentially more.

Re: Bondage Corner

Good point, my experimentation could be why I view sex from such an uncaring viewpoint. It's not important to me, but I see it as like a similar action to eating, except eating is more necessary towards someone's health, and I enjoy eating more.

Meh. Sex has never been more than an annoying biological imperative to me. I agree with Toxic, pass me the pizza.

Ick. Sounds like they're asking for a yeast infection.
