Re: An Ancient Compact (Farren, Gargantuablarg, Copper)

Keti was surprised to see the cat-like creature emerge from the crowd after he'd stated their second assailant had had dark hair. What were they called... Nekomata? He wasn't quite sure... he'd had little to do with the outside world, after all.

The Nekomata's comment on how so many of the crowd were dark-haired set Keti's mind to work... what else had he seen of the second elf? He tried to remember what color his clothes were, and if he was armed as well... anything that could help him identify him. He was so consumed in his thoughts, he couldn't form a proper response to the cat-man.

He'd hoped the elves would deliver the second culprit as well... but Keti supposed that had been too optimistic. Apparently, the one that had shot at him had taken his time running back, arriving back into the village only seconds before them, and his friend had mysteriously disappeared. Hmph. They were probably twisting the truth to soothe their egos, acting as if they could do no wrong, Keti thought, as the mobs leader bade them leave.

When the Nekomata spoke again, though, Keti snapped out of it, and grabbed Nae's arm, looking her in the eyes, with one eyebrow raised. They knew nearly nothing about this assailant... but ... what should they do? If they didn't find him, retribution would be ... bad.

Re: The Ill-Portented Expedition (crossgrave, blueslime, chibi)

Satuma nodded to Soren.

"I'd love to take a look, once we've set up camp. Nath'll be angry though if I'm not paying attention at the rear though."

Assuming nothing happened until they next stopped for the night, Satuma would approach Soren at the first opportunity she had to settle down and take a look over his sketches. They were, as she expected, quite good, and of the same quality that she had seen with that first picture of herself.

"I know I've said it before, but you are very good Soren. That's a neat talent you have. Ever think you'll do something with it beyond sketchbook drawings?"

Azalia listened to Satuma's words carefully. It seemed that the young soldier knew a thing or two about wild animals as well. It made sense that the wolves would follow them - sure, frontal assault was out of question, but they'd have to watch out for ambushes. Stupid professor and his idiotic decisions. Moron would have gotten them killed if Nath and Satuma hadn't been with the group. They were given a skilled bodyguard for a good reason, it seemed - altough so far the biggest problem was the old man in charge, who failed to notice that. Azalia felt her respect for the old soldier increase, even as professor kept losing in her eyes. For the rest of the day, she remained in deep thought, snapping out of her trance only when someone addressed her directly.

Re: Baptism by Fire (Occam, Squid, Kathy)

Flow twisted to one side midair as the spear's strike sailed past her, the winds were magically on her side, and the smallest flap of her wings caused her to easily avoid incoming blows, as she swiftly came around to staring the man down again, want in talons, "That was a mistake, I'd been playing defensive til now." she chided, chirping softly at the man in her singsong voice.

Her wand still in hand, so to speak, she waved it quickly about and a magical flow of fire caressed down her wings, drawing together down her body, cascading across her form like flowing water from head to foot, giving her feathers a crimson glow for just an instant, as she drew her rapier, and the flames converged upon it, the theatrics of her gesture a boon to her father's teachings, while the added viciousness it would give her attacks, clearly her mother's doing.

Twisting the rapier in her talon, she made a wild gesture forward, a hard wing flap sending her almost spiraling out of control to the casual observer, as she aimed to drag her rapier's sharp tip across the chest of her assailant, following it with a counter-spin of her other wing, sending her launched forward at the man, her first strike instantly followed with a thrusting attack, as she practically threw herself upon her spear wielding opponent.

(Fire Support (+1 Damage), Rapier Switch, 2 attacks.)

Re: An Ancient Compact (Farren, Gargantuablarg, Copper)

The leader of the militia narrowed his eyes slightly as he considered the proposal. "Honestly, I don't believe this second individual exists and don't much like the idea of them poking around for someone to finger for the crime, much less anything else they might be able to do once inside," he began, looking from the nekomata to the sirens and back.

"If we do this, they're your responsibility. We'll be watching them, but if they do anything funny, you'll be expected to accept responsibility," he warned, looking back at the Sirens. "I want no funny stuff from either of you," he warned.

Keti thought back to what he had seen, but there was nothing helpful there. Short dark hair, clothing in a common style, of a common brown colour and as far as she could recall he had not seen a weapon held by him. Heck, all things considered he didn't even know for certain it was a him, although he doubted that it was a female.

@ the expeditrion thread, did you want me to push things ahead, or did you want to continue RPing around the campfire? Either way is fine for me.

Re: The Ill-Portented Expedition (crossgrave, blueslime, chibi)

He shook his head. "I had thoughts that they might be useful when writing and needing diagrams, but what use is art in our nation?" he smiled ruefully, and his expression gave the impression he was quoting someone. "To be honest with you, I want to become a professor. Though I hope to never forget that we never stop learning." He looked up at the sky for a moment and sighed before looking over at her. "And what about you? What do you hope to accomplish with your life, if you don't mind my asking." He was still a little nervous and thankful she hadn't tried flirting with him again, but he was slowly loosening up. That fight seemed to have knocked some of the shyness out of him and it seemed he was making a genuine effort to come out of his shell, so to speak.

Re: The Ill-Portented Expedition (crossgrave, blueslime, chibi)

"Oh me?" Satuma shrugged and brushed back errant ringlets of red hair as she seemed to change her thoughts around to address the new topic of conversation. "You mean besides world domination?" She joked. "I guess I just imagine myself seeing the world, having an adventure. The military seemed the best way to do that - though I've already run into a bunch of issues. I'm okay with following orders, but the dress code violations I've stacked up..." She shook her head and stole a rueful grin.

"But really, I like handling all the new gadgets that our engineers cook up. I'm planning on making my own recommendations and modifications after I field test this newest handcannon model more thoroughly. So I guess you could say I intend to be a military engineer - the best that I can be." She winked a glittering green eye at Soren.

"But you," she said, turning the conversation back onto the male, "you shouldn't underestimate the value of art. Art is a passion, and an outlet, and we Lamians could use a few more artists in our ranks if you asked me. We're too systematical in our thinking. It's our strength and our weakness."

Re: An Ancient Compact (Farren, Gargantuablarg, Copper)

Nae listened but she kept herself turned away, at least until Keti grabbed her arm. She didn't know what they should do, but she knew that Keti wouldn't leave his home here even after all this. If they could at least find the other man, maybe they'd leave Keti alone. At this point anything would be an improvement, though she wasn't sure anyone would listen even if they found him. She couldn't remember seeing anything that really made him stand out.

She sighed a little, looking away for a moment to order her thoughts. She didn't want things to get worse, but she couldn't leave them as they were. At least the Nekomata seemed interested in finding out the truth, so maybe they'd get somewhere. Of course at this point she had to wonder what he would even get out of it.

"We can try looking, if that's what you want to do Keti." Nae finally replied as she turned back to her friend. she gave a quick smile before turning back around fully to face the leader of the elves and the Nekomata. She restrained the urge to make a comment to the leader, simply nodding her understanding before turning her gaze back over the Nekomata. "May I as why you choose to believe us?"

Re: Escape from Dracholt (Sinfulwolf)

"I'm afraid it's safer for you if you don't know what it is," he replied, shaking his head and giving an apologetic shrug. "Try to dispel all curiosity, it would be better to think that gazing upon it would kill you. For it just might," he adds grimly. "As far as how you're getting out, the tunnels under here go for some distance, once we get the all clear from one of the scouts, we'll slip you out of the city through them."

Saerus continued to thrall to her passion, one hand groping at her chest in the kneel position as the other continued to firmly grope from where it slid into the front of her pants. She threw her head back, letting out a few short, gasping moans. "Brother.... brother..." she gasped weakly.

Re: An Ancient Compact (Farren, Gargantuablarg, Copper)

"Something tells me they're risking a lot more by coming here than you are having them in your village." Atair pauses, as though considering something. "Though one might wonder how the rest of their kith might react to any violence done upon them. I would think avoiding further trouble would be the goal for both sides, no?" He cocks his head to the side, eyes bright as he looks over the gathered elves. "They seem to only want answers, not to bring retribution down upon you. From what I've seen, they come forth peacefully. For that, yes, I'll watch over them."

He glances back at the sirens, then to the leader again. "Funny stuff would be their singing, no? The one, Keti, is it? He needs to play, not sing, I'm told, and that will be easy enough to remedy. The other, well, if I'm watching her, I should be able to keep her quiet if need be."

Part of Nae's question would hopefully have been answered in Atair's comment about why they'd come. He gives the merwoman a slight smile, continuing with "I'm looking for the truth. Allowing you to search just might lead me to it."

Meaghan ran her fingers across her slightly pointed chin and nodded. "Very well... such a shame though. Still, I'm sure the Lamia would bust their balls getting something new to examine. Now... while we wait for the scout..." she purred softly, stepping up behind Saerus gently, letting her hands settle gently on the woman's shoulders.

Re: Rise of the Accursed OOC thread(interest check)

To certain players who I seem to have to nag for a post every time,

You are ruining the game. Not just for yourselves, nor the other people in your thread, whoa re forced to wait for you to reply. The more people who apparently just can't be bothered posting or maintain a regular update schedule with no notification to the GM that you'll be absent for a reason, the more I feel that people don't give a damn and the more I don't give a damn as a result.

I'm aware some of you can't make it on every day for various reasons and generally, I'm aware of you. Pale and Kathy, for example, are people whom I know cannot presently get on every single day, yet I know are still interested in the game, and likewise I'm aware that crossgrave was/is away from computer access and have taken that into account.

Certain others, however, have not posted in a number of days and have either been poked recently or in previous posting rounsd to do so. If you are unable to regularly reply to the game for whatever reason and don't feel the need to inform me, I will have to reconsider your continued presence in the game because as mentioned, your apparent apathy is not only slowing the game down for people sharing a thread with you, but slowly ruining it for everyone involved.

If you share a thread with someone who you believe may be one of these people, I encourage you to direct them to this post, as I am not entirely certain they'll locate it on their own anytime soon.

"Heh. You seem to be doing very well then. I must admit you surprise me. My own arrogance and led me to believe that those with looks didn't have brains. It's a blow to my preconceptions I can tell you." He looked down at the latest entry into his journal. "What place does art have in our nation though? I may be good, but it won't put food on the table, will it?" He sounded as though he was repeating something told to him many times. "I have to do something that will put food on the table..."

(((Holycrap. Sorry it took so long to post, I went to bed way early last night, and slept most of the day. I was going to post earlier and then got dragged off by my mother to see HP7.2)))

Re: The Village of the Wayward Lambs (Pale, Oamp)

Celine felt the tension as the two conversed. She really did not hold an interest as to WHAT they were discussing, but the tone was rather concerning. She found herself being drawn in, despite her best efforts.

When the woman turned to leave, obviously trying to make a statement, Celine felt the tension level spike. This would be a good time to leave, if something bad was going to happen, but as the crowd parted for the figure it would be highly conspicuous if she left at the same time. So she waited... and in fact it occurred to her that this women knew what was going on, to some extent. While true she'd only been concerned for herself up until this point, Celine was a ruthless gossip by some standards, or just very curious by others. She'd keep an eye on her, then follow when it was first convenient.

Re: The Village of the Wayward Lambs (Pale, Oamp)

"Ah, come now, little wayward oracle, surely things are not so dire..." the supposed Goddess called out to the robed figure. "After all, I have heard no such murmurings of darkness." She floated calmly through the air, almost dancing about the crowd, caressing a few cheeks lovingly and causing the crowd to fall deeper under her spell. "As long as I watch over them, these people have little to fear. And behold, already they are united in their adoration for me..."

A murmur of agreement swelled through the crowd; that nothing needed to be done, that they would be safe, their goddess would protect them. The fact that they had not recognised the figure before them only moments earlier seemed completely forgotten. ”Will you join us, outsider?” “Come and dance with us” “Rejoice for Auricael will protect us” “Join us, newcomer”

Both the oracle and especially the outsider Celine had the crowd begin to converge on them in a somewhat creepy display of fanaticism as Auricael gave a silvery laugh from behind them, twirling to and fro in a hoverying dance. ”Yes, come, join us,” she urged gleefully.

Re: An Ancient Compact (Farren, Gargantuablarg, Copper)

Keti regarded their new feline keeper with a curious eye. He'd never seen him, or indeed, any of his race in the village before. ...Granted, he seldom went to the village even before the current troubles, but he thought it a safe bet he was a new face around here. Did he really know what he was getting himself into?

Nevertheless, a mediator between the villagers and themselves was a welcome addition. They were obviously uninterested in actually hearing them out - and even with their new go-between, they were still quite resistant to their prescence - and the notion that they were innocent.

Keti wrote down those names he'd heard during the exchange that might hold any information that would prove them innocent. Norris, the red-haired one that had shot at him, was an obvious choice; McLean, as well, and the Latrobe he'd ran off to help. The three hark-haired elves in the crowd should be questioned, as well...

Halfway through trying to remember the blonde McLean's name, one of Keti's wings twitched as the Nekomata mentioned his inability to sing. His thoughts were derailed momentarily by the mention - it was not pleasant to be reminded of what he lacked, especially when it was so defining a trait of his race.

When the list was finished, he showed it to Nae, pointing at each looking at her with an eyebrow raised. "Three dark-haired elves' names?" was written underneath the three names - should the Nekomata approach, he would show that to him, pointing it out, and then point at the individuals, still in the crowd, after which he would make a begging motion with his hands.

Satuma laughed. "In a nation bereft of decent artists, I'd say that decent art could earn some decent coin. I'd pay for a commissioned work. I'm sure others of our race who stay cooped up in their ivory towers all day would want something nice to look at while contemplating the newest arcane working, or designing a brand new smelting process. There's a lot to be said for aesthetics. And that's the second time you've called me beautiful. You're not going to go all bashful and silent on me again, are you?"

She smiled prettily at him, curious if he'd be able to stay out of his shell and look her in the eye.

Re: Rise of the Accursed OOC thread(interest check)

Patch note: I've adjusted Support Magic as used by the wands. I realised that I've not specified a range yet so that's been adjusted.

Support Magic, unlike offensive, is also ranged, rather than reach, meaning you don't want to be using it if someone is in melee range of you.

This patch will apply at all future combats, but not effect the one in progress outside of the range restriction now in place.

I've also split reach into soft reach and hard reach. Hard reach counts as being in melee for the purposes of disrupting the use of ranged attacks, soft reach does not. I will come up with a better term for soft reach in the future. For more info on reach and ranged rules, see the rules and game mechanics thread.
