Re: Age of Worms

"Doomsayers aren't always necessarily crazy" I mutter, but keep glancing around, hoping to spot a green dagger like the one in my hand.

The blind doomsayer points at your group and yells, "The uncaring will lead you to the maimed one's secret, the crimson cod awaits you if you continue your current path."

((That's what I was thinking at first, then I remembered seeing a pirate ship called "The Crimson Cod" in a game I used to play online...))

Re: Age of Worms

(Okay that's just a weird name for a pirate ship. I think I'm enjoying this too much.)

After the blind nut yells at you he turns toward a group of sailors near-by and yells, "No one is safe the worms of Heironeus fallen shall eat your flesh. The black trio walks amongst us." Finally the old man moves off as if to find a new corner to yell from.

Re: Age of Worms

(That's the whole problem with crazy, evil DM's who used to work as manipulative interrogators. You never know wether or not he's just fucking with your head. Since no one has knowledge (religion) to help out, maybe perusing CH.6 in the PHB will help with part of the prophecy, if any of it's true that is.)

After continuing through Barge End for a little while longer they find themselves at a dead-end of sorts. The pier they are standing on is connected to the other piers along the water's edge by a series of old boats and barges so close together that it should be easy to find your way to the other piers.

(Both Melissa and Teren simultaneously notices a large half-orc with light-olive colored skin, numerous scars, and a large iron-capped tusk protruding from his lower lip dressed in a fine suit of leather working two barges over from the pier they are currently standing on.)

Mellisa tap's her teammates on the shoulder, and nods slightly in the right direction before quietly saying "now what?"

(Can we move through the lighter green blocks, or must we navigate the sea of turds?)

Re: Age of Worms

((Sorry forgot the map key, and the spaces between most watercraft is 2 ft. since they're jammed so tightly, hence the name Barge End. In other words green and brown turds are where you can pretty much go.))
gray = roadway
green on the gray = building
green you are on = dock
light blue = water
brown = ships, barges, rafts

((For some reason, I'm thinking of pulling a Mario right now.... Anyway guys. Should we just directly approach him, or are we trying to be crafty/sneaky?))

Re: Age of Worms

(If we try to approach him directly by jumping from ship to ship, he could spot us and this could turn into the Casino Royale chase scene, so lets try to be sneaky about it. Or at least lets not approach him like we're going to kidnap and torture him for information. That's what we're doin right? Right?)

Having been notified of our targets position, I glance over at him casually, hoping to catch the name of the barge he's on. This could get tricky if the half-orc notices people watching him.

Re: Age of Worms

The half-orc continues to unload crates from the barge with his back turned to where the party stands. You don't notice or can't read the name of the barge. No one notices anything else going on.

Re: Age of Worms

(We're in combat? I would prefer a group consensus, though I like my 16 roll on initiative. I'm not rolling 1's like I was in my last D&D game, though I haven't tried to kill anything yet. And which of us has the highest jump? Mine kinda sucks cuz of my armor, and I'm assuming Ashnods does the same.)

I move past Ashnod, and prepare to jump to the ship further along the dock, as I can see that it will be easier to jump to the next barge from it. Unfortunately, it also brings him closer to Iron Tusk making it more likely that he will be spotted.

(If we're in a combat situation, I can start blasting. I thought we were going to try and get info from him though?)

Re: Age of Worms

(I was just rolling for initiative ahead of time so I don't have to clutter to many posts up with dice rolls. Sorry if I made you guy's panic.

Most of the jumps at least the ones that make sense are two feet or less. Since a five foot jump is a DC 5, you shouldn't have to worry to much especially when you aren't hurrying.

Also to avoid confusion the rectangles are barges or houseboats, the rounded rectangles are sailed ships, the small rounded squares are rafts, the ovals are boats. I hope that makes sense and helps somewhat.)

Re: Age of Worms

(Yep. If he sees us this is gonna turn into a chase scene. Thanks for the info dmronny.)

Keep jumping from boat to boat until I get to the dock. My path is (from start) lower right --> right --> upper right --> upper right --> right onto next the dock.
I try to not make too much noise so as to not alert Irontusk to my movements.

Re: Age of Worms

(Here's an updated version of the map, to make it a little easier on your descriptions. I'll wait for a day, before I start moving characters on my own, to keep them with the group.)

Re: Age of Worms

It would be: Start --> B2 --> R1 --> B3 --> B4 --> Dock for me then.
