So, is there any way to distinguish between story advancing missions and normal side quests?
edit: ok seems that there are red events that advance it, I didn't encountered one yet so I was wondering

That is a trap that spins you to another direction when you move over it. It isn't bad, it is a minor inconvenience, but it can fuck you over if you are running from an enemy and don't pay attention.

The worst trap I encountered was the trap teleporting you anywhere: it was the same as a game over in the beginning :/

Getting the extra scenes involving the coloured H books is by far the biggest grind in the game.

I've lost count of the number of times I've run the dragon nest for H books, and all I've got to show for my efforts was the red book (appearing twice) and the black book. Ironically I had 4 blue H books before I starting trying to challenge the map random number generator yet for some reason the fifth one is proving ridiculously elusive.

I've lost count of the number of times I've run the dragon nest for H books, and all I've got to show for my efforts was the red book (appearing twice) and the black book. Ironically I had 4 blue H books before I starting trying to challenge the map random number generator yet for some reason the fifth one is proving ridiculously elusive.

Those are nothing. It's just a matter of teleporting to the area with four chests in Dragon Hunt, looting them all, then exiting. Worst comes to worst, you can hack the books in using SpoilerAL or CheatEngine. The generic female adventurer h-scenes on the other hand... are infuriating. I have everything unlocked except for Killer Maid 2+3 and Paladin 2+3, and I can't for the life of me find an area where more than 1 female paladin shows up per battle. Oh and by the way, the highest rank you can achieve is King. You need 30,000 renown. The second highest is Dungeon Master at 12,000. There are no special rewards for achieving either (except at King, you have 90 command, potentially 95 if you started with +5 NG+ bonus).

I don't use CheatEngine, so I'm relying solely on the whims of the random number generator. I should have noted down the areas in which I picked up books, not doing so has cost me. Repeatedly teleporting and exiting is monotonous after a while.

I've never had a problem unlocking the generic adventurer rape scenes, probably because I like grinding a lot so getting the necessary kills is easy. Look out for the bounty hunt quests; I've seen paladin turn up quite a few times. The other thing to remember (which you probably know anyway) is to make sure Darks gets the finishing blow for the hero type in question.

Dungeon Master I assume is what the English translation for 迷宮総長 is, it's a little bit of work since players have to rely on more than just mapping out all of the areas and finishing the story mode quests. I'm now at this rank on my second playthrough, I don't really need the last rank since I've got the army configuration I wanted and the extra 10 isn't going to help me much.

King only gives a maximum of 90 command, not 95 (I'm on my second playthrough so I already benefit from the extra 5 command from New Game Plus).

I grinded a little for those but got bored of it. When I beat the game and unlocked the gallery, I noted what scenes I'd missed and grabbed a full save to view them.

I have my first red event appearing: do you need to do them as late as possible to not skip "normal" events or can you do them without worrying about that?

Some red quests are timed and will disappear once Darks attains a set fame level; others are crucial to advancing the story and can be put off indefinitely without losing them.

If you can read Japanese, the softhouse chara wiki has everything one needs. Since it's your first red quest, odds are it's the one about the adventurer perpetually hoping for Dark's demise.

If you don't complete this quest, there's a cap on your rank within the hierarchy so you won't promote no matter how much fame you accumulate. Otherwise there's no time pressure on finishing this quest so plenty of time to bulk up the party.

I did a lot of grinding I think, I'm at 1700 of renown, but yeah the mission is the one you talk about

Yes, that's the page with the events. If you can read it, you should have no problems figuring out which quests are time-critical and need to be accepted to ensure they don't disappear.

Finally got the blue book I wanted to finish the coloured book scenes!

I tried to upload my save file data as an online backup to ensure my hours spent aren't wasted, but the server migration has screwed up file uploads so it'll have to wait.

I've got 5 of these, can I sell them after seeing the event? Or are they used anywhere else?

If I'm not mistaken, you don't have to keep them in the first place, you just have to identify the book.

Could you provide a link for the English wiki? I tried doing a Google search but kept pulling up general, basic, bare bones 'softhouse chara' wikis without even a machine translation rip of the Japanese site.
