Re: (3D Lotus) Skunk Vol. 3 (NOT RELEASED YET)
Okay, purchased the game and finished it... I'll try to be as unbiased as I can, but since I disliked the h-content a lot it's going to be hard. Review time!
First off, the english translation is actually pretty good for the story dialog. It's not perfect, but it's obviously translated by someone who actually knows english: The same can't really be said for the interface buttons or the manual, though.
You have a total of 5 battles in the game with no story branches, except for one dialog choice near the middle. You start the game with only Sibil, and every battle nets you a new character to play with, beside the last battle. If you are fighting against a woman, you need to play as a monster and vice-versa.
The battles consist of simplistic card battles. You have 7 cards of three possible types: Attack, grapple and magic (Orange, green and purple), and you have a separate set of 7 defense cards of the same types and all cards have a number on them showing how much damage they do. The same apply to the enemy, and you also see their cards. If the defender picks the same color card as the attacker, the attacker lose a small amount of HP. If the colors are different, the outcome will either be a regular hit or a critical attack. If it is a critical attack, you have the option to select a spell (spell selection varies slightly for each character) at the cost of some MP. As such, the gameplay revolves mainly on choosing the most likely outcome: For example, if you are on a Defense turn and the enemy has 4 Magic cards, you should pick a Magic defense card since it's likely that the enemy will pick that (The enemy selection seems to be 100% random).
One unfortunate thing is that which cards you get is completely random. As such, it is possible to end up with a set of 6 identical defense cards and the enemy to have an hand nearly full of the type of attack you can't block. You only get one new card per turn (to replace the one you used) so it's going to be extremely hard to win a match where you are dealt with an hand like that, and it's an easy win if the enemy is the one with an hand like that.
Storyline and content-wise, the game is just evil. Murder, rape and torture everywhere, both on the protagonist and antagonist sides. You get h-scenes by winning battles. Every battle ends up in a rape scene, even if you are playing as one of the girls: I was hoping that you could avoid that by playing as the girls and winning but that's not the case. You have to win the battle, but the girl is raped anyway in exchange for the monster to switch side.
During the h-scenes, you have full camera control. The way it works is that you have to fill "pleasure bars" to advance to the next scene. Each scene has 3 pleasure bars to fill: You pick an option, wait 20-30 seconds for a bar to fill, and then you get a new action. Repeat until you reach the next scene. You also have the option to strip clothing off the character multiple times at different areas.
You have a total of 10 scenes in the game each with 2 to 4 actions so it amounts to a whole lot of them. However, the scenes are identical no matter which girl you choose.
Overall, the gameplay is okay-ish, the translation is pretty good (the dialog anyway), there's a good amount of h-content... I can't help but feel it is a bit pricy for what you get though: For example, Pretty Warrior May Cry definitively better value per $ spent. Personally I really didn't enjoy just how dark the whole game is and it made me feel extremely uncomfortable but I'm sure some that should fit some of you guys' fancy.
Oh, and do note that there's no save feature (WTF?): You have to make sure you have at least 2 hours in a row free so that you can complete the game and unlock the various events.
