KG has 6 Acerola games already, and I'm kinda guessing they are hesitant to remove the Steam version of DQM (as well as Pregcess/Princess of Zeven) due to how long ago it was promissed.

Well, the real problem is that everyone is guessing since there no official information since the project announcement. 3 years + pf non communication is a feat in its own. Maybe send a mail to the Guiness book to have it recorded ? ;D

You need to be at least a ci-en follower to see the post... but the gist of it is pretty straightforward. The Monica game is getting one more patch that has been in the pipeline for a while. If the teaser art is any indication, it'll include a stripper job, somehow. What I could MTL out of the article implies that they've been working on it for quite a while, in parallel with everything else and that they've been finnicky about it. Should be interesting to see what comes of it. It should also be interesting to see if Kagura picks this up after this patch.

From what I've seen with every other Acerola game, they don't send them out for localization until they're done with all their content. So if this will be the Final Monica patch, then odds are that after it's out, we'll see the game being picked up by Kagura... and then wait 2 years until it actually comes out. >.>"

The old saves can load the sprites animation, but the scenes not.

I doubt this is the reason, because Kagura didn't even announce it and "upcoming content patch" never stopped them before from announcing a release or even releasing the game. The Curse of Kubel had a content patch and KG didn't even say a word about it.
Also, this is the first Acerola game that got a DLC. Everything else was complete at release and they only were releasing bugfixes for it.

Perhaps somebody else will be doing localization for it or they'll do it on their own. I wouldn't be surprised if Acerola wasn't happy with KG because of long delays and late releases. They released 3 games since the last KG-Acerola release and we'll probably get another one this year. On top of that they still haven't released Melissa... So from Acerola's point of view, KG's is doing a shitty job.


btw. if anybody would like to share their TrsData.json from mtool, it would be great. Old file from this thread likely won't work and standard users don't even get translation for event scenes (unless it was fixed).

KG insist on having Steam releases, and can't do that with Melissa without heavy duty edits, Pregcess/Princess of Zeven might be in the same boat.

Steam became somewhat lenient with their rules recently. Unless the game will get mass-reported it's unlikely they'll do anything. Also steam version is going to be R15 and R18 patch is outside of steam so they won't give a shit.

As for my theory about the localization... The thing is, I'm not 100% sure of this, but, from what I've seen on most of the games by Acerola specifically, Kagura never announced them while Acerola was still pushing out updates for them. That was definitely the case for TH Claire, and I'm about 50% sure that was the case for Collette, but it's been a while since then, and it'd be hard to check the dates for sure. They definitely didn't release any major content patches for any of their games after localization was announced by Kagura. Kagura also can't announce or do crap unless the Dev actually contacts them to begin localization and whatnot. Basically, I'm pretty sure that Acerola themselves didn't initiate the process until they were sure they were done with the game. It seems like their style.
