Blogspot removing all Hentai blogs

Re: Blogspot removing all Hentai blogs

Could you provide a link to that, or was it sent via mail?
Not that I don't trust that.

Sorry, I probably should have provided a link in my original post:

Re: Blogspot removing all Hentai blogs

Wow... I was quite literally making that post around the time that Google was announcing they reversed their decision and wasn't aware of the news until today. I don't know if I should say "I totally called that" or if I feel really awkward now.

Labcoax's development is on hold while I work on another development. Check it out at my blog. AoD needs more feedback.

Good to know Google is but I should probably got an fc2 blog or something as insurance. Don't wanna get caught with pants down.

Now if only we could get them to fix Youtube and reverse their policy of needing a Google+ account to make comments. Because you know, that's basic functionality that they took away.

Re: Blogspot removing all Hentai blogs

Somehow I'm not surprised that they didn't go through with it. What I AM kind of surprised about is that this whole story made it onto a conventional news website.

Oh yeah, they never backed up on that right? (I never noted the change since I already had a gmail account long before it). That just goes to show you, you can take everything from a man, except his porn, that's off limits.

Re: Blogspot removing all Hentai blogs

I wonder how to interpret this one though, from the current policy:
Do not use Blogger as a way to make money on adult content. For example, don't create blogs that contain ads for or links to commercial porn sites.
The intent here is probably that you shouldn't create a giant ad-blog with free porn and links, making money off referrals.
AFAIR blogger already doesn't allow its regular ads stuff on adult blogs.

But then again, this could be read as against most adult developer blogs - if they have a game development blog that links to their purchase pages,
technically they are "making money on adult content", though I doubt they'd ever enforce that, especially on pixel/self-created art.
Big collage of found-footage photographic strip poker game? Maybe more borderline.

Overall, in the light of the existing policy, it sounds like this whole dance was someone saying
"hey, I think we're getting too many problems from all these ad-infested freeporn blogs, can we just ban porn entirely?"
Prompting a huge backlash of "dude, you know there's other adult blogs?
There are people genuinely creating stuff on their own and being creative, do you really want to tell them 'sorry, we don't like you anymore.'?"

"Blogger is a free service for communication, self-expression and freedom of speech." - except if that expression isn't safe-for-disney...
That didn't fly well after all, I guess.

Blogger.com isn't safe. Adult game dev blogs that include donation links haven't been allowed under their terms since before the recent "sexual imagery" announcement - and now it seems they're going to be hunting down blogs that violate their policies, instead of passively reacting when things are flagged as offensive/policy violations by viewers.

FC2 isn't an option I'd recommend. In my view, there are better options.
