There was quite a bit of sex in it, most of it homosexual men. But due to how the story works, wolves are going at it as well, and the men can feel it in a way. But, I wouldn't call it porn. Not in depth enough on the sex itself, but they focus on the feelings, emotions, and consequences of these 'mating' events.

The violence, at times fairly gory, but a lot of the fights are kind of glazed over in favor of showing the results and consequences before moving on with more plot. I personally prefer getting more in depth with the action, and showing the results first hand, rather than only a few off hand comments of the brutality of warfare, but they did fairly well, and it certainly lends more to what Ranger was looking for.

Just the amount of sex, and the fact that it's male on male, though I can certainly see driving a lot of readers away, even if not overly graphic.

I guess my main issue with one of the reviews that I read was that it's less "graphic sex" (or just sex in general, I guess) and more of a 'gang rape' type scenario. I get that's what's going on, I mean, the guy's got the female wolf and the others are fighting for the chance to be her mate, but as long as it's handled well, I don't mind it (and you should know my take on M/M by now *laughs*). I guess what I'm more looking for is whether they handle it as just having to deal with multiple partners that are fighting for dominance or if they go hardcore with it. The same reviewer (I think) that put up the comment about it being more a gang rape seemed to think they put it in as more for dub-con padding than for story purposes. And glazing over the battles are fine, in my opinion. I don't mind descriptions of fight scenes, it's when they get too gory that I feel I have to pass.

In some sense it feels kind of like a gang-rape scenario, but at the same time the character was consenting. It's led up to fairly well, and explained pretty well in story, in my opinion anyway. It does come across to me in that it's about there's multiple people fighting for the chance to be the one that gets to claim the character... yet at the same time the humans have no choice in the matter, they're more along for the ride. It's kind of weird.

K, thanks, Sin. Might check it out at a later date. CB's got Amazon Prime and there's some copies on there that are fairly cheap. Will have to poke around.

I guess there's a sequel now, too: The Tempering of Men.

Just read 'The Warded Man' and 'The Desert Spear' by Peter V. Brett. They are of course part of a series (5 books planned apparently, the Warded Man is the first, and the third is not yet out), and I actually rather enjoyed them. They are a fantasy series. Story is about a young boy growing up in a world where demons rise from 'the core' at night to kill, maim, and destroy whatever they can get their talons in. They are in turn stopped by the sun, but also magical wards, most of which have been forgotten over the many years (there's a reason about the wards needed to defend against the demons being forgotten but that'll make a quick summary much longer). Said boy decides he wants to step up and fight back against the creatures that have caused so much trouble, so sets out on a journey that takes him around the known world to find a way to properly fight back. Other characters of course come in, and there are multiple obstacles standing in his way.

I rather enjoyed these first two books, and am looking forward to the next one. Despite there being demons, the humans, not even the heroes, are the typical white cast saviors that fantasy used to portray (gray heroes is seeming to become the new trend, but I rather like this trend personally). the writing itself flows well, and the author uses some good imagery. The plot is indeed getting more engaging with higher stakes at the end of the second book, and I'm interested to see what'll come by the end of book 5.

Content within doesn't get overly violent or sexual, but anyone with an imagination can paint a pretty 'R' rated picture for themselves with what is indeed given. Swearing is on the typical fantasy fare with 'ass, bastard, and shit' being used.

Recommended to those who enjoy a good fantasy tale, that's fairly grounded (other than the wards, there is no magic, but the wards are fairly prevalent), and don't mind the gray against black conflict (though there is of course gray on gray as well).

I don't mind consentacles myself, might check it out also, if only for the lulz on the fact that tentacles are making their way into said genre of books.

Also have been reading the Lies of Locke Lamora series by Scott Lynch, already finished the 1st one and am now on the 2nd book, Red Seas Under Red Skies. I'm gonna get the 3rd book soon to read it too. It's a great series all in all imo.

I remember skimming through the second book at work. I actually thing I swiped the ARC of it and then hunted down the first book afterward. Wasn't aware of a thirds, so I might have to go find that.

Yeah the third book just came out recently from what I heard, still think it's one of the best book series I've ever read and can't wait for the fourth book despite not even having read the third book yet.

Not nessisarily a 'book', but it's literature.

Proof in the saying 'Diamonds in the Rough', this little tale on demons, angels, and half-angels I stumbled on in Literotica is extremely well written, and is a fine good read even without the smut parts included in it. Definitely recommend.

So my dad is a really big World war 2 Reader and tends to favor Books focusing on the politics and POV of the war it self. In my younger years I had little to no interest in the topic Because I was of the mind set Hitler was evil Nothing more needed to be said. Also I was always far more interested in the tech of the age rather then the People fighting the war. As I have gotten older however I started to realize that Hitler is Evil was a entirely Idiotic view point because of how complex the Events of the world wars were I've started to take an interest in some of my fathers old books. My experience during my own service albeit short as it was has really opened my mind to what it was to really be a soldier. As I result One of the Titles stood out to it its called Soldat:Reflections of a German Soldier, 1936-1949.

I have become engrossed in as I wait for almost an hour and half after I leave work for my ride back to my home.

I have only just scratched the surface of this book and have just arrived at Siegfried Knappe's surrender to the Russian forces and the suicide of Hitler. I would definitely suggest reading it if your curious about the era and how A German officer viewed the war and its conclusion and the aftermath.

I just came across a book that sounds really interesting and thought I'd share. I haven't read it yet, so can't tell you that I liked it, but I definitely will be reading it sometime soon... and I'm pretty sure I will like it when I do.

The book is called The Dark Wife by Sarah Diemer. It's set in the world of Greek Mythology with gods and goddesses but with one major change. Hades is a woman. Persephone, the protagonist, eventually meets up with the lady of death in order to be free of Zeus's oppressive rule at Mt. Olympus. There's trials and tribulations, but (AFAIK) Persephone eventually becomes stronger for it in order to be the goddess she was meant to be. Oh, and did I mention her lesbian romance with Hades? There's that too.

I'm pretty excited because it's a combination of three of my favorite things, lesbian romance, mythology, and personifications of death. Add to that, the book is self published and the author writes lesbian erotica under a penname. Win-win I hope. :)

On the other hand, he also has a tendency to keep characters alive but believed dead, such as
MOST of the Stark children, Catelyn Stark/Lady Stoneheart (though, in all fairness, Catelyn DID die and was brought back... sort of), and Daenerys Targaryen.
Other characters change their names, sometimes many, MANY times, like
Theon Greyjoy/Reek and Arya Stark/Arry/Nymeria/Nan/Cat of the Canals/no one/Beth/the Ugly Girl.
By the fifth book, there are so many characters that it's hard to keep track of them all, and sometimes you're not even sure which characters the chapter takes the point-of-view of, until you've read about a third of the chapter. It's complicated and convoluted, and I seriously doubt that the sixth book is going to simplify matters. On the other hand, it's still outstanding entertainment and I enjoyed the hell out of it, even if I found myself having to refer to the

Mostly, I just want to see Tyrion Lannister, Arya Stark, and Daenerys Targaryen conquer Westeros, like I know they're going to.
