Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Speaking up drew the attention of the beast which growled menacingly at Rikke and slowly began to stalk towards her. Drawing her blade Rikke was ready to end the beast once more. Just as she moved to do so her friend from the ruins burst into view and moved to tumble with the war hound. Fur flew and dogs growled and tumbled leaving Rikke to do as she would.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke sighed as the beast growled "I didn't want to do this..." she'd draw her blade and sharpen her eyes focusing down on the enemy--- only for suddenly something to burst out of the jungle! In a rush of wind, leaves and broken twigs a massive beast seemed to tackle the warhound!

Rikke blinked as she was very quick to recognised... it was the hellhound?!! "Eh?..." the girl looked on to the fight dumb-struck briefly, before giggling "Keep him occupied!" with the two a safe distance away, the girl could resheath her blade and approach the manor.

Last time she entered through the main entrance, the curse envelop'ed her "Humm..." well if she knew cursed objects, what she sought would either be upstairs in the Lords quarters or downstairs in some dungeon or the like!

With that Rikke would quickly look around the mansion for any entrypoints either downstairs or the upper floors, all the while focusing herself to try and recall as much as she could when she was entranced. Perhaps between the brief episodes of consciousness something stood out...

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Any entry to a lower basement or dungeon was either long buried or nonexistence, The upper floor was sadly too over grown to make headway at least not with out effort and while her hell hound friend had the upper hand Rikke doubted she wanted to reward his efforts. Upon entering the mansion Rikke heard the voices spike but then die down. She could clearly see her own steps from before and quickly followed them to her discarded cloths. She was in some sort of entertainment hall. The ornate furniture and grand decoration having long fell into ruin. Still the voices where present but not as strong as before. Maybe the defeat at the temple had weakened them or perhaps the threat had moved it was hard to say. From her current position she could had back out threw the entry way or threw what seemed to be the master bedroom. The other paths from this room having been blocked by vines or collapse.

Unfortunately it seemed the rogue would have to use her original entrance afterall... "Alright." the girl approached the border she still recalled quite clearly, this time the curse wouldn't catch her off-guard! Bracing herself the girl ve~ry slowly placed her foot inside and cautiously leaned inside...

Rikke slowly opened one eye and looked around, then other - she was fine! While there were still subtle whispers on the wind, they were far from overpowering! Still the rogue wouldn't lower her guard for now.

Infact, luckily for her seemed she was the only one to wander the place recently as her footprints were all too clear! She'd even find her discarded clothes to boot, though area she found them in a small hall with a pole and fair few once-luxurious couches.

Looking around, Rikke infact remembered when she had to dance here. Or well the ghosts mades her do it "Hum..." she'd look around and indeed find her tracks once again. This would lead her to the Lords room!

Smirking to herself, Rikke steadied her breathing and continued. If the source of the curse was there, no doubt that spell would try to claim once again! She had to be sharp and ready for it! With those thoughts the girl continued onwards and went to the master bedroom.

As she entered the master bedroom the smell of perfume struck her nose. It was elegant and smelled lovely. An image of her applying the pink liquid to herself and dressing up in the dancer out crossed her mind but it was more memory than curse. Following the though Rikke did find a remarkably preserved dresser with the crystal vial of pink liquid sitting nearby. Also despite the relative preservation of the dresser the rest of the room was a shamble. Still one other exit lead away from the master bedroom.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke picked up the perfume bottle and looked it over, this was no doubt the dancers... though it was of remarkable quality, considering how many years it still held it's potency! Still it was something of the house, Rikke would take it with her for now.

Looking around the remainder of the room revealed that it was in absolute shambles... except the dresser. Why was it so special? The rogue raised an eyebrow and would inspect it first, before moving onwards... if the dresser beyond its appearance was unremarkable.

Still the rogue sort of recalled certain events or well the aftermatch of certain events with the Lord. Perhaps it was just that a mind-trick, but otherwise... there had to be a room that was more preserved!

Continueing her exploration of the manor, the rogue more or less had one route - the other exit out of this room.

Wis contest 10 vs 10 failish

As Rikke touched her dresser she quickly opened up the drawers and found her dancing jewelry just where she left it. Though it seems her favorite dress was missing. Oh well Lord Ginshal will buy her another. Dabbing her neck with her perfume Rikke began to undress to put on her purple dancing cloths when something stopped her. What was she doing again. Getting ready to meet the lord or head out for the day...

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Just as Rikke opened the drawer her eyes seemed to shift, as once again the curse swept over her. The girls body starting to move on it's own, though this time it was different. Rikke still felt in control! Though the ghostly influence still guided her actions, the rogue felt she could break out whenever she wished... however this was a perfect chance!

Allowing herself to continue to along the curses rhythm, the rogue did not interrupt her half-curse. As the dancers thoughts subtly mixed with her own, though she'd manage to keep them seperate for now!

She already knew the Lords name, now she'd just need to find him... perhaps the masquerade of her being fallen to the curse once again, could infact protect her for the time being. She'd just need to keep her consciousness in control!

With that the rogue/dancer got changed and headed onwards along her plans, uninterrupted. So long as the curse effect did not amplify...

Moving with the flow Rikke found that she needed to exert more will not to slip into a trance and submit to the illusion. As she let it sweep her along she found her cloths once again only dress in a series of golden jewelry and chains. Once that was done she found herself heading down the hall that passed threw a kitchen and dinning hall and up a elegant stair to the upper floors. Here she found an oppulant harem room with a shadowy figures lay on cushions. Rikke felt her feet move forward to take her place at the side of the shadowy figure.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

If one figure:
Though just as she was to step forward, Rikke did not budge. Instead the girl seemed to sharpen her gaze and drew her blade! The dancer had done her part, now it was time for the rogue to do hers! Shunning the curses influences aside, Rikke quickly took back full control of her body as she'd eyes the dark entity "So you're the Lord of this place..." she'd speak up, looking over the form... this creature appeared different than the others. Was this too a ghost? Unlike the vague whispers and influences the girl had seen up till now, this one seemed to have to have a sort of body... or an echo of one, far more substantial than the others!

If multiple figures troughout the room:

Were these all the other dancers? Still if there were so many, why did only one of the shadows always meld with the rogue? While Rikke could only guess at the answer, her sharade had to stop here! Just as she was about to step forward, the rogue quickly retook control of her body, shaking her head once as if to clear, before looking around the room "Hello? Girls?" she'd adress the shadows "I'm here to help." Rikke uttered the words and looked if there was any reaction from any of them.

Exerting her will caused something to scream into her mind before her version shifted again. Blinking she found herself in a less than opulent harem room. The shadowy figures were no long present but Rikke felt them at the edge of her mind.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Just as Rikke shook her head to clear herself of the influences, the moment she reopened her eyes the luxurious and opulent room was gone. In its stead, there was ruined dark room... much like most of the manor. The ghostly echoes seemed to have gone as well, though Rikke still suspected they were there.

"Hello? My name's Rikke. I'm here to help." she'd look around hopefully "You don't have to suffer this curse anymore, let me aid you." the girl attempted to address the figures and waited.

The rogue herself was a stranger to these lands, however the cursed beings no doubt knew quite well what bound them here still... if Rikke was going to clear the curse, she'd need their help.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Nothing moved and nothing spoke. The room creaked about her from a slight breeze sending motes of dust to fill the room. It was clear the spirits were bound here but Rikke was no priest no sage or seer. Interacting with them seemed impossible. Thinking back to Shala and her ghost existence Rikke recalled something kept her bound to that boat. She never did find it however as Sienna intervened.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke looked one way... then other... nothing! Sighing deeply the girl paused to think over her options, clearly if these spirits were here they were not strong enough to communicate with her. Meaning she'd be on her own!

"Okay..." the girl looked around "Right... object." she'd not be able to return to the boat for aid, since this was her only chance to clear the island! The moment she'd come back to the ship, that was it. This was the chance that counted!

Still if she'd not be able to ask the spirits, Rikke focusing briefly - perhaps she could recall something of the dancer girls! Still if nothing recent stood on in the girls memory, she'd have to do this the old fashioned away! Search around!

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Searching this upper floor Rikke found it to be mostly for other woman if the ruined rooms had anything to say. Each room seemed to be a semi luxurious or at least at one time. However from the beds to the cloths left it was clear that this Vila was a brothel. It seemed the girls used this upper floor to rest leaving the entertainment to the lower floors. No clues presented themselves to Rikke up though a fair amount of jewelry lay undisturbed gathering dust. Heading back down threw the stairs and the ktichen she once again found herself in the main bedroom though now it was seen in a different light. This room was the madams room or at least he head girls. No doubt this was the place the most skilled an attractive girl took prime customers or guests. looking to the right her eyes once more latched onto the pristine dresser/vanity only just now noting the mission mirror.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Nothing... nothing... NOTHING! "Grr-ah!" the rogue closed shut a drawer and crossed her hands in annoyance. There was nothing in this place that seemed potent enough to affect a whole island!

Rikke huffed lightly and leaned against a nearby wall, considering the mansion was quite haunted she had grown... oddly accustomed to it "Lets see...." she'd think back and even head along the path she previously went, looking over the mansion with surprisingly much more detail now.

Though try as she might she did not find the Lords bedroom! The only fancy bedroom was of... Rikke paused and quickly looked back as if, turning to the harem room!! This place was a brothel! And there was no Lord, just the Madame of this place and her client! Or well... the most prestigious and influential girl in the establishment and the client.

The girls eyes light up as some mystery of this place cleared up! No wonder her spirit was the most potent, she had played a very important role here! For the rest, Rikke had to sit down a think...

This meant it the sacrifice from the temple, could've likely come from here. Rikke thought back 'It was not her...' the spirit that possessed her there was far different. It was also likely the ritual originally was a success, perhaps the cause of the curse here even!

Yet there was nothing in the temple that stood out, just like nothing here particulary stood out. Perhaps beside the pristine dresser and vanity, which appeared to be missing a mirror.

"Hum..." Rikke stood up and approached it, thinking over all the events that occured thus far. Perhaps the dark ritual had indeed cursed the whole island to eternally be haunted? There was no dark object or dark entity to fight here, just victims of a lasting darkness.

Still why was this solitary piece of furniture so pristine, it absolutely stood out as absolutely abnormal in the rickety place. Bracing herself not to be caught by the spirits presence again, Rikke would reach for the vanity and inspect its drawers as a last ditch effort.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Cloths upon cloths well persevered thanks to what ever effected the dresser, not a dent scratch or water mark. Everything about this one piece of furniture was perfect except its lacking mirror. Rikke could see where it slotted in even the old warn marks where it rested. Why was that piece missing. No mirrored shards rested near or in the room. Its like it was taken away.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

"What ARE you..." Rikke looked over the brilliant piece with a raised eyebrow, though as perfect as it was - the mirror was missing. Though no shards of it being broken were around, nor did there seem to be any traces of the mirror.

Was this quite simple piece of furniture the key? How could it be? Though from it's appearance it clearly hinted that it was. Rikke furrowed her brow looking over it and leaned out, she had noticed an unbroken mirror of this size inside the mansion by now. Though the girl could not recall ever seeing it either.

Upset Rikke shook her head, she lacked far too many piece or perhaps just did not place them together right yet 'Stupid... stupid...' the girl grumbled at her failed adventure as she was heading out, even the whispers seemingly not bothering the grumpy girl up to... a gleam from a memory catching her notice.

She DID see a reflective surface. As if coming back in time, Rikke recalled the cursed tresure room and just as she threw the torch another light appeared in the room and disappeared... as if reflecting the item! The mirror was likely there!

Rikkes eyes lit up at the memory! Perhaps if she got this final piece, things would become clearer! Heading out of the mansion the girl barely even paused near the exit as she rushed onwards towards the temple!

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rushing forward Rikke easily moved threw the jungle the path now well known to her. Still it didn't help that she was still in the dancers garb. As she crested a pile of rubble the ominous temple rose from the jungle. Not hesitating Rikke quickly moved past the traps and obstacles in both the plaza and the temple till at last the golden room lay before her again. Looking at it more carefully she spotted the glint she had remembered. Nearby the rest of the vanity sat its Mirror resting against a wall away from the gold. As she approached it Rikke heard the whispers creep up to her. Reaching it she gazed at it only to find a reflection of her self staring back. Still the whispers echoed louder almost insistent.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

"I'm... not... here for the treasure!" Rikke winced as the whispers grew louder, though she suspected the mirror itself could be the influence as just as the rogue reached the mirrors edge, she'd turn it away from herself!

If successful the girl picked up the mirror and smiled to herself, hopefully the vanity was worth the effort! The current plan was to return this thing back to its proper place... preferably unbroken, even if it meant slowing down.
