Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

It indeed stood out from the treasure around it. Picking up the rather heavy mirror Rikke left carefully. It indeed took a lot longer to get back than to get to. Thankfully her dog friends were no where to be found. Once back and the villa she managed wrestle the mirror back in place. Once it was done she stood back and looked at it. The whispers surged once again but then Rikke noticed something. the reflection in the mirror did not match the room behind her. Her reflection was gone as well.

Why would some lug this thing all the way in there to begin with! Rikke cursed in her mind as she carried the quite fragile item. Still at the very least, all alone in the jungle it seemed only the wind and the chirping of birds kept her company, a fair few colorful critters flying by to look over the carried object and the stranger carrying it.

However after some work, Rikke headed back to the room and very carefully placed the mirror in-place! "There!" the girl sighed with relief and stepped back "Now then... what makes you so special, hum?" she'd look to the now-complete item with a content smile, yet... nothing peculiar happened again?!

"Oh no you don't!" Rikke growled out and approached it, looking over the object! She did not go through all that for nothing! She did--- the girl paused briefly as she'd note the mirrors reflection.

It did not show the run-down manner, but instead revealed a wholly different sight? "Eh?" the girl turned her head as she'd leaned closer to it, quickly noting that the mirror no longer seemed to show a reflection at all! Very carefully Rikke extended her hand and attempted to touch it...

As she touched the mirror it rippled like water distorting the reflection of the pristine master bedroom. But that was not the only thing. As she lingered only a moment the whispers became crystal clear. Their individual voices easily discernible from the cry's around them. Pulling back the voices receded into the whispers once more.

Rikke quickly pulled her hand back and looked to the mirror ripple akin to water... the heroine blinked curiously and after a brief looking around, took a light breath "Here goes nothing..." the girl would extend her hands forward and slowly push in, her eyes half-lidded as shortly after she'd try to crawl through it!

Taking a deep breath Rikke streched fourth and touched the mirror again only this time she would not pull away but instead push forward. Just as she thought her arm sunk deeper and deeper into the mirror soon causing her to climb onto the vanity and proceed further in. Eventually however as the sights and sounds became solid she tumbled forward. If anyone watched the would simply see Rikke reach threw the mirror and seemingly fall forward the mirrors surface rippling like disturbed water.

Rikke tumbled forward her body hitting a soft cushioning carpet. From the main entertainment room Rikke heard the sound of laughter and music. Gathering her senses she surveyed the now opulent room. The air was heavy with incenses and the smell of wine and food. The master bed was covered in rich crimson silks. The walls of this room where painted black to draw attention to the red furnishing. Risking a peek out of the room Rikke found blue transparent figures mingling and speaking amongest themselves. Men, woman, some monstrous races as well. Though most seemed to focus on the only living looking people in the room. A set of woman danced on the poles for the customers. The first looked similar to Rikke in appearance though her hair was a bright bright red. The second seemed to Aundian but not quite her features where less pronounced and more soft. Various tropical flowers adorned her soft black hair. The third was human as well though from what she could tell she looked the same race and Emi her eastern features prominent, though her hair was a deep purple. Other voices could be heard from the kitchen and above hinting at four more woman.

Rikke braced herself and soon enough, she'd push forward and through the mirror! "Oof..." the girl tumbled out and instantly heard music, laughter, chatter all around her! Quickly raising her head, Rikke looked around to what seemed to be... the brothel at its peak?!

Just as she thought! The mirror was some sort of gateway to this place!... but what exactly was this place? Standing up the rogue straightened out her outfit and looked around, her main draw being the entertainment room that seemed to boom out with life.

Peeking inside the girls eyes widened as people of all races and genders seemed to be happily mingling with one another, almost trapped in this happy moment in time "Huh..." Rikke smiled at the sight and stepped inside. Her eyes quickly scanning the dancers as well as the patrons all around, not to mention the sheer luxury all around! Who could've thought a place like this existed in such a remote corner of the world... or perhaps this was just a memory? One all too tinted to appear far beyond what the brothel once was.

Whatever the case may be, Rikke knew from her days in the Silken Princess that the dancers couldn't talk to her, thus if she was going to learn a bit more of why the mirror lead here... she'd learn the answer in the kitchen beyond.

After eyeing the ghost like patrons of the brothel, Rikke turned back around and headed down the short hallway. As she moved out of the master bedroom she quickly found a route she couldn't take finally open before her. In the ruins a hallway had collapsed on her left blocking her way. It was now open if she wanted to explore or she could keep going straight into the kitchen and past the bathroom.

Rikke would turn away and explore later, first she needed some context on what was going on! Or well... why was she brought here. Turning straight to the voices, the rogue would continue onwards.

Though as she neared them, the girl paused for just a moment to eavesdrop what the conversation had been about, before properly approaching whoever was talking.

Rikke would temper her explorer nature and sneak up to the kitchen stopping a few feet away to listen in on the goings on. As she approached the smell of food wafted to her nose.

"I don't know why we bother they can't eat it they are all dead."

"True but we are not and we need to eat even if this pocket of the spirit realm protects us from outside we can still starve in here, and besides spirits or not they are our customers."

"Aye and we need to keep the customers happy."

"I wish Mistress Pelacia had succeeded."

"Oh April? Feeling a bit of discontent."

"Well no one wants to be trapped in the spirit realm forever."

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

They knew?! Rikke blinked as she listened in, not quite revealing herself. Seemed the duo talking were aware that this place was not real, not to mention they weren't dead?!

Subtly shifting herself to hide her blade, Rikke would finally step out into the open "You two have some explaining to do." she'd look to them sharply. These two certainly didn't seem like entities potent enough to curse the whole island!

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

The conversation stopped dead as both woman looked at Rikke a moment. Now that Rikke had entered she could see the two of them clearly. One was tall almost to the point of having to duck under door frames. She was modestly dressed for someone who worked in a brothel though the fact that all her cloths were pretty much see threw ruined the modest illusion. She had dirty blonde hair that cascaded in waves down her back and bright green eyes. She currently had a spoon with some stew to her lips. The second one was a short girl with deep tanned skin and short shocking blue hair. Her eyes where purple and her ears had a slight point to them. She was dressed only in an apron. She was well endowed for her height the tight apron hinting at all to enticing curves. Blinking at Rikke she shirked while the tall one stretched out her hand at Rikke having metal chains seeming summon up from no where to bind Rikke.

From behind a counter the short girl called out. "Who is that April?"

The tall amazonian woman looked at Rikke her eyes catching the blade. "I do not know Azura but it seems if she wanted to hurt us she had all the time to do so." Snapping her fingers the mystical steel chains vanished. "Sorry you surprised us. But just who are you?

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikkes confident stride was quickly cut short as suddenly magical chains appeared on her hands?! "Eh? No.. No! Hold on, I just want to talk..." the girl looked to the chain uneasily and then to the girls. Seemed they were certainly in fair control of this place... meaning it was best to stay on their good side.

Thankfully however, the blonde girl seemed surprisingly reasonable as just as quickly as she bound the rogue, she'd release her "Thanks..." Rikke rubbed her wrists with a smile.

"Rikke, I'm a traveler of sorts." she'd not lie and look to the duo "Better question is who are you girls... and why are you here?"

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

"Well met Rikke. As to why we are here its a bit complicated but as to who we are that is easy. I am April Mistress of pleasurable torments at the Forbidden Rose." The tall amazonian woman then pointed to her short blue hair companion still cowering behind a counter. "That is Azura apprentice in the arts of love. There are a few others around as well but we can introduce them later. The bigger question is who in the hells did you get to the spirit sanctuary?

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

"Well..." Rikke smiled slyly "I found a way with accidental aid from your friend upstairs." she'd clearly hint at the room "Darkness is surrounding the island and when I attempted to track down it's source... well the trail lead me here, to you girls." oddly enough the dancing girls hardly seemed particulary hostile or malicious. Still even if they were darker beings than they appeared, there was little point keeping the details a secret.

"I came to the island by accident, during our expedition here one of our crew turned into a medusa, one tried to sacrifice half of the crew to the dark gods... and one tried to make resident around here." the girl leaned on her right foot and crossed her hands "In other words, for a spirit sanctuary... your spirits are leaking. Worse yet, they're possessing and killing people."

The girl hardly sugar-wrapped the news, as she looked to them. Perhaps the girls did not even know the harm they were causing?

April looked at the rogue her brow furrowed. "Obviously you have no idea what a spirit sanctuary is. Truth be told the girls here are more than just whores. We are a sisterhood of magic. This spirit sanctuary was set up by our leader when she felt dark forces gather. Its not a prison more like a life boat." April sighed a single tear rolling down her face. "If you are here and not our dear Pelicia failed or at least lost her life in the attempt."

This brought a gasp from the blue hair girl who started to cry and sob immediately. "April turned to the girl and moved to comfort her. "Now now we long suspected this Azura."

"I know April but I always hopped she made another one for herself ya know."

"Hush hush its okay."

Rikke looked to the girls sadness and glanced away "Sorry... I didn't mean to be the bearer of bad news." though after a brief moment she'd once again turned to face them "If you're referring to the ritual in the pyramid, then yes. I've interrupted that dark ritual."

"Was that her? Pelicia, the one who gave herself over to this dark god?" Rikke asked with a stoic expression, making it clear she was serious about the matter. Even if the rogue was trusting, the conditions under which she found them and especially their quite vague words hardly inspired trust.

"WHAT! NEVER!" April stood up anger in her voice. Azura reached up and touched the girls hand calming her slightly. "Pelicia would never submit to that fool at the temple. She was a grand witch the best this land ever offered up. Some say she was the islands spirit incarnate. She would never be bested by the likes of that fool. You must have seen someone else."

Azura finally stood up and looked at Rikke her purple eyes locking onto the rogue. "You probaby saw Penny. She was always the dark one of our group. Never satisfied with what she had and always angry at the people of the city."

Though the approach was rude, it was informative! Rikke nodded and smiled "Alright, then it was Pennys sacrifice that brought the darkness to the island. But by who? Whose temple did I come across?" it was slowly becoming clear that the girls here certainly were not at fault for the numerous whispers, even if there was one 'but' the rogue would have to adress later.

"Not to brag, but lifting curses and clearing dark energies is my specialty." Rikke grinned cheekily and winked to them in a cheery mood, subtly leaning forward as she did so, before returning to a more casual stance "But I need to know what happened on the island and what could be maintaining it's curse."

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

"If our mistress failed to stop the ritual then its is likely the high priest retreated to his palace. He kept it secret from everyone only his clergy knew. Pelica suspected it lay underground someplace but never found it. After all when the city threw her out she left them to deal with their own issues till well... this."

Azura spoke again. "I followed Penny to the plaza one day and lost her in the crowd. Which is hard to do given our attire."

"Not sure that will help Azura

Thinking a moment Rikke tried to bring it together. So what did she see at the temple. Did the ritual succeed? Then why did the spirit insist on trying to complete it? Maybe Pelicia did succeed but not fuilly. Maybe she prevented the ritual but some of the effects still lingerer tied to the powers of that where summoned. The whispers seemed to focus on the temple in strength but she had fully explored that. Still maybe underneath the temple a hidden entrance.

There was another way... Even if the rogue didn't like it "Pelicia, she's the girl with the top room near the entertainment hall?" Rikke looked to the girls "I take it she was the one that created this safe-haven for you girls, but did not join you." the girl kept her eyes steady as she looked to them. Her plan relied on some uncertainty, but she required these answers first!
