Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Thankfully the guards seemed to avoid the last wagon of the Caravan, likey due to the fact it held a very angry bear. Choosing the next wagon in the train Rikke found it to a supply wagon. Hiding in it was out of the question but ontop... well it wouldn't the smoothest ride but the canvas covered frame should hold her.

Slowly the caravan crossed over to the Murder Pit stopping just outside the gate. Here to burly looking men guarded the entrance inspecting all items that came in. A few well dressed men came to the door after awhile and waited as a very rough looking armored figure came out of the encampment. They talked for a bit before some coin exchanged hands. With the business done the welldressed men headed back to what Rikke could only guess as the head of the wagon train. Almost as soon as they left the various guards of the wagon began to unload.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke quickly dashed to the nearest wagon and was about to jump up... only to hear a particulary angry huff come out from inside? The girl froze up seemingly mid-jump preparation as she'd look to a massive bear, one that even bore a single sword scar over its eye and barely fit in its already roomy cage! "S-sorry..." the girl sheepishly stepped away only to rush forward to the next far more suitable, albeit bumpy ride.

Yet just as the rogue go in position to observe and strike "Guard call out!" "First!" "Second!" the guards were already making preparations to move out?! 'Crap!' Rikke would duck down and flatten herself as much as she could against the roof only for the bumpy ride to begin shortly after...

The Murder Pit... the place looked almost as pleasant as it sounded, with all manner of 'contestant' and beast memorabilia scattered across the rough looking area! Still as the rogue observed the exchange she knew that soon enough everyone was to be unloaded... if she was going to move in, she had to do it now while the situation was still not set in stone!

Before the unloading got started properly, Rikke used the chance distraction as she'd leap back to the wagon with the bear "Alright, 'Scar'... I'm not sure if you understand me, but I need you to cause a ruckus and get away. Have fun, but don't die." the girl smiled as she'd strike against the cages lock only to slice it apart... and the cage to open!

Rikke would not wait for the bear to make his exit! Moving quickly the girl remembered the Blackthorn flora tied up by numerous rope, that would be the next target she'd free!

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rolls
Rikke dose some crazy acrobatics 1+1 is 2.. fail Rikke deals 2 damage to herself. And alerts nearby guards.

From her position on top of the supply Wagon it would be an easy leap to the bear cage. Easily a challenge of agility and grace that Rikke was an expert at. Much like a cat ready to pounce Rikke shimmied her but and lept only to have her foot catch on part of the wagon frame. Eyes widening she impacted the metal bars with a loud clang that sent Scar into a growling frenzy. Hearing the noise Rikke head the guards run over to the cage.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke had the plan, the means and the confidence to execute the whole plan! Heck the girl had already seen it in her mind! With a sly smirk, the heroine would move to--- Only to feel her foot slip? "Eh-- Wua~ Wua~ Waaah!"

With a loud clang couopled with roars from the agitated bear the girl would slam against the steel bars up top, before falling down!... "A-tut-tut.... ow." well that was embarassing... Worse yet though she'd soon enough hear the guards stir to activity!

"Eeep!" with Scar roaring up above her just a little bit, she still had to stick with her plan... even if it wasn't as elegant as she'd like, Rikke would look to strike the lock and flee the scene!

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Not wanting to lose momentum or be caught Rikke quickly slashed the lock in twain. Almost the instant the door loosened it was bashed open by the very angry bear. Choosing to dash off so she only escaped with a busted lip. Her plan to release the blachthorn would have to wait or be delayed altogether. Slipping under the wagon as guards swarmed the bear from all sides RIkke managed to crawl undetected forward.

Scar was upset the mighty bear had fallen for a simple trap that even a cub would know better. Fish do not simple appear on dry land. He snorted perhaps his venerable age lead to his capture. Too long feasting unchallenged had made him dull and slow. Even the local hunters paid him due respect even leaving an offering or two. He snorted again at his misfortune. The fish was tasty but it made him sleepy. Easy prey for the two legs.

The thought agitated him. Two legs where cunning but weak. Standing little challenge in a straight fight. Sadly as weak as they were they didn't taste too good, despite their odd and varying color's and shapes. Still anger wasn't going to get him out of this pickle. Yumm pickles.... his thoughts wandered as the remaining effects of the sleepy fish made him dose off again.

Scar dreamed of his late mate a mighty she bear with large hips and a temper to match. It was the most challenging courtship he had been threw but in the end despite the bites and scratch the she bear left carrying his seed. He growled in pleasure during his sleep unknowing frighting a female two leg who had gotten to close for comfort. Unaware of the passage of time Scar's next waking moment was brought on by a loud clang. Jumping to his feet as much as the tight confines allowed the might bear slashed at the door and it swung open. Bounding out of the cage the first thing he saw was a group of the two legs..... time to teach them a lesson.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

With his sleep abruptly disturbed, Scar would only see a brief glypse of orange, before the shouts of the two legs... 'man' neared him. Just from a simple glance he recognised their colors and form, this was the same hunting pack that had him trapped!

Yet much to his surprise the small confines he was trapped in... opened up? With a creak echoing out, Scar could already smell and see the fear in these man creatures!

This was his chance to regain his lands! Scar would not waste a moment to charge forward and small outside with a mighty roar announcing that the pack was to defend itself or flee his newfound lands!

[Combat
Basic attack (Headbutt!) nearest enemy!

Meanwhile Rikke had quickly ducked out of the bears view just in-time as with a roar and a crash the beast was out! 'Go get 'em big guy!' hopefully the beast wouldn't go overboard flinging the poor sods around.

It seemed the two leg pack was gonna fight. Charging forward Scar simple struck one knocking him back but not before it managed to hit him with a glancing blow. Soon its pack mates came in trying to bash him into submission. Feeling a blow strike his flank scar turned one claw lashing out and stopping a blow from striking only to have another hit him on another side. Soon more men would join the fight and Scar would be overwhelemed unless he took this fight seriously.

Scar growled out and roared in rage, raising his claw and letting loose a sweep that seemed to echo out all around him! The sheer impact of the blow or perhaps the dread it inspired seemingly hitting all of the man creatures!

[Combat
Use Whirlwind!

Rikke though wouldn't linger, as she'd only hear the echos of combat and roars from the beast! Still... only one of the attractions let loose would draw the guards, but what if she released more of them? Such chaos could make her rescue efforts all the more easy! Where was that Blackthorn...

Scar let loose a frightful rage induced roar, lashing out wildly striking all the man creatures around him. Still they stayed and fought bashing him with their sticks. Threw the blood and smell of the men Scar detected the smell of the fire stick. His massive head turned to take in the sight of the men creatures kneeling down and pointing them at him. They were trouble.....

Meanwhile Rikke managed to make her way past the most of the commotion. Only to spot a group of bandits in a defensive formation marching with a well kept and dressed man in the middle. He would have been striking if not for the cold cruelness in his eyes.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

[Combat
Scar uses Whirlwind!
(Free action) Scar uses Cull on an injured Ranger (if possible)

Scar cared little as even if there were many of them, they possessed very little might! There have been some of these men that dared to fight and even matched his might, men that Scar recalled by name and with great admiration.

Yet these fledgelings had many a river to cross! With that the bear suddenly gripped the cage he was trapped in and with absolutely absurd might pulled and swung towards the group!

Rikke would continue to remain silent, yet just at a glance this group looked like they were trouble... Would they reach the absolutely rampaging bear he may be in trouble!

The rogue would look around perhaps to try and cut a rope or the like to block their path, hoping the incident would be seen as little more than an accident. Yet if no such chance for a bit of security sabotage reared its head. The heroine would rush onwards to free her other distraction - the BlackThorn!

Though as she moved, Rikke too would keep an eye out for any one-off or to the side guards. Searching the caravan may work, but the girl could just ask where Irie or the plant was!

Loud cracks of the fire sticks echoed out stinging Scar slightly. With a mighty strike Scar sent the cage that dared to hold him tumbling away and into one of the man creatures droping him with a sicking squish while the others got bowled over by the metal bars. This left the one's with fire sticks vulnerable. Chomping down on one and with a shake of his head sent him flying threw the air. Meanwhile another one of the men creatures joined the fight swinging a rope getting ready to subdue Scar once again.

Unable to find an opening and the rest of the guards on high alert Rikke had no choice but to move forward quickly in hopes of finding the Blackthorn. She could of course break cover but that would surely lead to her being spotted.

With the weak pack falling one after the other, Scar would roar out once again! The injured either unable to move or flatout too scared to even attempt to move, some Scar himself knew were reeking of fear but just fearful to even run! Even so, more of their pack came running?! With so many of their kin defeated would these creatures still continued their feeble battle?

If they stayed, the veteran bear would show no mercy to his enemies rushing he'd swing let loose a massive swing with enough force behind it to send the men flying!

[If Combat continues:
Whirlwind

With a loud crash, Rikke winced as she looked on to one of the guards land near her?! His face pale and armor pierced, the man would only gasp before flatout fainting in sheer panic... thankfully the armor seemed to absorb most of the damage, yet judging by his pale complexion somehow the rogue doubted he'd ever even consider such a life again.

The girl snickered at the sight, smiling slyly... judging by the flying pieces of armor and yelps from the men back there, her bear ally was certainly wrecking havoc! Smiling widely the rogue would send the bear her best wished, before she herself remaining in hiding looked for any of the men that 'just so happened to be 'preoccupied' during the stompy bears rampage in their camp!

Looking around Rikke would continue to move onwards, all the while keeping an eye for any potential targets she could... inquire where the captive humans were kept! Especially those sent to the pit! Somehow the rogue had a hunch that if she freed that lot, the caravan would be theirs!

Scar having enough of the weak men rampaged off into the dark a few stray shouts echoing out as they tried to chase him. The bear not even looking back at the weaklings. Meanwhile Rikke quickly found a single cage holding tired men and woman and very angry looking woman in the corner whom the others even in the cramped cage gave wide birth. No doubt Rikke had found her target. However she could see that a few of the wagons had begun to head off. These where the ones that held the exotic animals and the blackthorn. Turning her attention back to the cage it was soon apparent that besides Irianna the rest of this bunch would be little help in a fight.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

The rogue continued to slip silently onwards the shouts and cries from where she unleashed her havoc having stopped. Hopefully the bear had made it out alright... Though thankfully without even needing to ask, Rikke had reached the human prisoners!

Her eyes carefully scanning the area for guards, Rikke would quickly rush over to the cage and smile "Found you!" she'd announce in a hushed tone, before asking Iri and the others "Is this everyone?"

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Irianna looked up at Rikke a slight smile on her lips. "As far as I know." In the faint light of torches and campfires Rikke could see the bruised face of the woman as well as the very dangerous glint in her eye. The rest of the people however were less than able. No doubt they could run but she had little hope of them escaping their captors for long.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Indeed it had not occured to the rogue earlier that, while freeing the slaves would be easy... the girl would release them to the unknown wilds. The city Emilia was resting in would be a fair trek away, with most of the captives hardly being able to make it there.

The rogue herself hardly knew of the local areas as well, having even less real contacts that could provide some sort of support to the poor people! "Alright, so is anyone supposed to be delivered to this damned Death Pit?" chance at freedom would still be better than certain death in the pit however!

If even one person answered that they were chosen for the pit, the rogue would raise her blade reading to strike the lock, before hearing one of the nearby horses kick the ground subtly 'm?' the girl looked to the nearby horses, who were already settled with the large cage wagon. Suddenly a far more interesting idea crossed the girls mind! "Everyone... hold onto something! I've got an idea." she'd look to the captives with a cheeky smile, before rushing up the wagon and to the drivers seat! How difficult could it be to hijack the whole thing!

Though once up in the riders chair, the girl quickly realised... she hardly ever driven a wagon! "Er... anyone know how to drive this thing?" perhaps by sheer chance someone of the captives had a bit more expertise in piloting the planned get-away wagon!

It had been a awhile but the memories of her time in Crollia and the sled came to the fore. Sure Janet and Jessica had more experience driving a sled or even a wagon but it didn't look to hard. Taking the leather reigns in her hands Rikke tried to simply coax the horses at first her soft voice pleading them to go. Suddenly her memory cleared and with a snap and a YAA! the horses began to stir.

With a snort and neigh the lead horses began to pull away navigating on their own to avoid danger. Sadly with out the proper guidance the wagon jarred the one before it causing a few boxes to topple out. With a load crack and boom followed by a fanciful colored smoke caused the horses to panic and dash forward! Behind her the captives yelped in surprise as they where tumbled about.

There escape however was not secretive or quiet and drew a few stares and shouts though it looked liked the bandits didn't quite understand yet what was going on.

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

Rikke looked back to the poor unfortuante souls with hope... yet her question was met with just silence and looks amongst themselves. The rogue would keep a smile though... seemed she was on her own! The thought alone quickly spurring a cold sweat drop rolled down her cheek.

Well how hard can it be! Rikke would look to the horses and take the reigns, she had sorta done this before... Still the rogue was if anything excellent at improv! 'I think they always did this...'

"Yaa!" the girl called otu and subtly whipped the reigns! And thankfully the horses reacted! Well one of the horses reacted to be exact and worse yet it wasn't even going the right way! "Wait wait... wait wait wait! Not that way---"

It would be mere moments later that a loud and colorful explosion rocked the camp, quickly scarring the horses as they'd cry out only to bolt right out of the camp at extreme and fear-inspired speeds! "HOLD ON!" Rikke called out as quite clearly this would be a bumpy ride!!!

Rikke would prepare herself but still attempt to guide the horses out of any obstacles if they even listened at this rate! Just had to make them face the right way!

Re: Chapter 5 Home is where the Heart is (Ubberific) GMed by ranger

OOC Rikke super passes her luck roll! 19+1 for a 20 vs dc 15

With the explosion came chaos and with chaos came panic. Men, horses, captured animals ran too and fro none knowing what was going on. This of course lead to accidents and several men getting trampled by running horses or oxen. In all the chaos about her Rikke finally found a moment of clarity. The noise around her drowned out as she became hyper focused and in tune with the horses pulling the wagon. Reading their movements she was able to direct them with a few sharp gestures and get them under control and in the direction she wanted. Before long she was quickly leaving the murder pit behind as the wagon sped away into the night the scene behind them rocked with the shouts of men and more colorful fireworks exploding in the sky behind her!
