Re: PbP Interest Check
Teaser for version 2: I've looked over this thread, and I'd like people whom I haven't talked to about it to know a few things.
1) Magic is getting changed significantly, so that it is less complex, and the "glass cannon" idea, as thetwo so effectively put it, is made a bit more prevalent. To that end, the spell system is getting a complete revamp, though it will still be similar to the original DG system.
2) Not only is magic getting changed, but I'm adding something somewhat similar to spells and powers to warrior classes in the form of "Skills." Sort of like powers that, instead of directly adding things, you can trade certain penalties for bonuses. Each skill will also have requirements that have to be met before it can be taken. A few choice examples:
Called Shot{Activated}: When using a ranged weapon, you can take a -15 penalty to your to-hit to inflict double damage on the target if your attack hits. Requires: Body 20+.
Sudden Strike{Activated}: You can wait until the end of the round to make your attack, and take -10 on your to-hit and Dodge for that round, at which point you will make a Stealth check at -10. If you succeed, the attack for that round counts as a sneak attack. Requires: Stealth AND (Dueling OR Two Weapon Fighter.)
Shield Slam{Activated}: You can forsake your normal attack for this round to make only a Shield Bash, which, if it hits, causes your target to be knocked prone unless they win an opposed Body check against you. Your shield bash also does an additional 4 damage. Requires: Shield Fighter.
Wise Fighter: You can use your Mind in place of your Body stat to determine how much damage you deal on a successfully hit. Requires: Mind 20+.
Note that these are likely to change, as I'm planning on balancing them all before I even think about starting any type of play testing. A lot of the numbers are likely to drop, for one thing.
3) Spirit is what is getting changed the least, since all I'm really doing is balancing the powers against one another, and adding a few more.
4) I've added a few races, and changed the old ones. I've also changed/added Flaws, Talents, and a few game mechanics. All in all, I'm trying to make as many aspects of the system less complicated and awkward as possible. I've also tried to make a lot of things more specific.
