This was a big deal because Yumesame most enemies actually have a sex attack.
A sex attack that is basically the same for everyone, which is cowgirl position. I do agree with what neutral is saying: I loved One Shota and Kariyume because of the beat-em-up aspect, and the variety of positions ( bj, hj, paizuri, footjob, hell even armpit sex). But then again, I'm a sucker for restrained blowjobs and the not wanting to cum idea, so it works better for me.

I've played Parade Buster when it came out and honestly it was way worse for me, and after that every game looked the same, so you play that one and you've played all of the others.

Ultimately it all comes down to taste and I guess the majority likes the Parade Buster style more, which is disheartening but oh well

This is kind of misinformative.
One Shota and Kariyume, had two scenes per girl, and they were all basically foreplay, and rubbing up against the MC.

Yume Same has 3 scenes per girl. I repeat 3.
They still have their rubbing up against the protagonist, and foreplay moves that OneShota and Kariyume have. He just added an intercourse scene per girl. And some girl's intercourse scene in Yumesame was just more foreplay.

The ratio of foreplay to intercourse in yumesame was around 70/30.

Smash Boy is basically OneShota in sexual content dispersion.

The first person games on the other hand, he sticks to the first person viewpoint pretty hard, and that limits him sexually. He tries to do facesitting and other stuff like here in Hagokoro, and there's tons of footstuff in Hagokoro, but for the most part some types of scenes just don't look good or feel attractive to draw in the first person viewpoint.

I liked way more when there were schoolgirls, office ladies, simple mommies, teachers etc. Now they're all the same, soldier, archer, mage, paladin, assassin and whatnot.

Plus yeah I preferred way more the sidescroll view, because as you said the first person view is way too limiting. It's a shame because there's really nobody else doing shota games

Hmmm...

I don't agree. OneShota, and Kariyume had really boring enemy designs. (I just went to random level like the 5th level and took a screenshot in the beginning.)

The fantasy setting allowed all types of girls. Different types of soldiers, bandits, regal knights, armored girls, MONSTER GIRLS.
When it comes to variety and quality of girls I definitely think the fantasy games did a much better job.

The modern enemies are kind of bland in comparison. Especially the office ladies. In the modern setting, the only girls that looked interesting in my opinion were the idols and cheerleaders.

Shota's really common tho?
Unless you mean ACT games in particular, because ACT developers are very rare on their own.

Well yeah I guess it comes down to preference. I prefer a "closer to reality" type of enemy rather than fantasy, maybe because of all my fantasies as a teenager hoping to have a hot teacher and what not (I guess most boys had that) so it kinds of reflects here as well. Should I refer to it as mommy issues?

Well yeah I did mean ACT games, text based games and static images are really sad and do not do it for me.

Hagokoro has lots of footstuff tho.
Every enemy has a stepping animation, and there are side animations where they either rub their ass on his body or press their breasts onto him.

When it comes to intercourse, he could either do cowgirl which is female assertive, or missionary/doggystyle. Just like Yumesame the girls have 3 scenes, and 2 of them are guaranteed foreplay.

And yeah... he's not gonna do missionary or doggystyle usually. Look at his name.

This isn't even accounting for the fact that each girl has different animations based on if they're the second, third, or fourth on the dogpile. Although all sitting animations have a max of 3 girls rather than 4.

I sincerely hope he returns to working on these kinds of games or even going back to sidescrollers after this Mines Canary(?) thing he's making. I seriously doubt anybody asked for or wanted some dai shogi H-game, and even if making action titles is starting to get boring he has the freedom of being the best in that niche. The flow since the first has always been spot-on and he has a good sense of weapon variety along with stuff like impact and reaction timing, enemy tells etc. A tiny percentage of H-game designers boast that skillset.

I don't get it, I really don't. He could continue to chuck out these titles so long as he provides moderately different scenes and minor gameplay changes, and that would be enough for people to keep buying them. He's got a whole niche on the market to himself, yet he keeps going in the opposite direction of his fanbase and buying customers. Not to mention this japanese sport or past-time further alienates his non-japanese audience because you really need instructions to understand what the fuck is going on, it's not intuitive controls carrying over from his first-person or sidescrollers since they had english translation for older similar titles.

I mean sure, he may get bored and want to take on something else to challenge him, but can you really afford to take that risk when taxes constantly threaten to throw you out of house and home? One poorly selling title could be all it takes to have you living on the streets, especially in Japan's case. There's plenty of other circles and designers making the things people actually want, so why lose what consumers you have by doing random board games?

It's not even a good board game like monopoly or chutes and ladders. It's sweatlord central, shogi. rivaled only by sweatlord central, mahjong. where half the challenge is even knowing how to play it. I like a little unga bunga in my board games. (i like a little unga bunga in every game tbh)

He's always liked weird minigame style content though.
His rock paper scissors game, and the shota walking through the casino.

His side-scrolly action games were the way they are because he was limited by game engine. 2D Fighter Maker 2nd was what he made One-Syota and Kariyume in. It's also what the original FOBS was made in. It's a well documented game engine created by Enterbrain the owners of the RPG Maker engine.

But it's super limited in the types of games you can make and the types of resources allowed. Fiddling it to make a 2D action game was pretty crazy.

Then he went to WOLF RPG. WOLF RPG has databases built in. This means that doing stats, leveling and item systems was easy... so Parade Buster had stats, leveling and item systems. But again, he has a penchant for doing retro arcade style games. This time the type of retro arcade style game he wanted to do was a lightgun shooter, but you use your mouse instead... and he made a refreshing and wholly unique game Parade Buster.

After that he used WOLF RPG to make a sidescrolly action game. Basically WOLF RPG engine was very versatile and you could do a lot with it, but it was limiting when it comes to new technologies. It couldn't handle puppet animation engines like Spine or Live 2D. It had limited resolutions, and limited RAM. The software itself was 32 bit, so it would crash if compiling a game larger than 2 gigs, and would slowdown as the game got bigger.

So he moved to Unity and made Mawaru Hagokoro. Unity is basically perfect. Complete freedom to do whatever you want. It doesn't come with anything pre-built for you tho, so if you want databases for items and leveling you have to program that shit in manually. That's why Hagokoro was so stressful for him to program. Everything had to be done manually basically, but the engine was 64 bit and fast, and handled new animation pipelines.

He couldn't think about branching out and trying new styles of gameplay and just did something safe.

Yes, it's Mahjong except the rules are much simpler. Just matching colors and numbers. Don't worry, when the game is released you won't be struggling to actually play the game.

Ooof ok, so the ratio of foreplay to intercourse was even more extreme than I remember. What 95% foreplay, 5% intercourse then?

The quality of the animations back then wasn't that good either unless it was a boss.
I much prefer Hagokoro's animation system where all animations look good even if we get less.

That being said, even Yumesame has less animations than OneSyota then.

I personally hope whatever comes after Mines Canary (or whatever the proper translation is) falls back to his ACT roots. They're easier to enjoy without a proper translation and fulfill a niche we don't often see H-devs creating content for; M-content creators even less so. I kinda hope he eventually just remakes his old FM2K games in Unity, though that could just be nostalgia speaking because they were my first foray into H-games in general. With all that he's come to create over the years, I think it'd be neat to get a remake of ONESYOTA and KARIYUME with better quality sprites and the animation he now uses for H-content. Basically his older titles redone in the style of SMASHBOY and YUMESAME; perhaps with some new content added. I already mentioned this in less detail on the previous page but figured it would contribute to the discussion.

Unrelated to the current discussion at hand, but something of note that I pointed out on a similar forum:
A lot of people's gripe with HAGOKORO is rooted in the MTL, which I noticed was pretty crappily done a while back, not just because it was MTL, but because the implementation was flawed. Flawed in a way that made a lot of the dev's effort unnoticed by his western audience. If you go through the document from which it pulls the english translation, you'll see that his randomized mob personality thing was ingame, but the MTL broke it. Instead of translating each personality individually, it just translated one and copied/pasted the same translation for each, thus severely limiting the dialogue for mobs. I was cleaning it up myself but forgot to make a backup up it when I ditched my HDD for an SSD, and with how much there was, I'm frankly too annoyed and too busy to try again.

OK.

So... I was sitting at my computer after some guy asked what games I own, and remembered I owned this game.
I remember thinking... I don't remember this game being erotic at all.... I played it once, got done, and thought well that was an experience.

So I went and booted it up again. My opinion didn't change, but I noticed that the game has A LOT of ways to customize the gameplay, that I wasn't conscious enough of before.

So I challenged myself to make this game erotic but still winnable, and I think I succeeded.

If you guys want to get some fun out of the game here are the rules you have to abide by when playing.
It's nothing to complicated. Just a bunch of self limitations and an item set.

How to Play
I've uploaded my save folder. It starts on Round 2, on the hardest difficulty.
Download this save, and you can go to stage select to play through the main game normally.
I don't know whether or not the save takes into account my settings so I'll just list them here.

Under Battle - Disable Fighting with a Buddy is on
Difficulty - Hagokoro
Sexual (this is important)
- Behavior when lustful - immediately move into sex attack
- Switching interface display - displayed only after defeat
Display
- Hidden Give Damage - On (This helps because you won't be distracted by your low damage numbers)
- Display the HP Gauge in the Sight - Off

The save folder also includes my custom content, so my custom characters and 3 scenes I made just testing that system out. The custom characters are nice, but the custom scenes don't do anything. You can just delete that.

Regarding the Stages
-
Progress through each individual stage.
- When moving through the map, only move 1 adjacent panel. Don't move diagonally unless you absolutely can't move anywhere else.
- You'll get caught and probably killed a lot. When you die, resurrect with 1 of your shadow flashes if you have any. If you don't GG.
- Sadly playing like this fucks with the audio variety... so one more thing. If you get surprise attacked while the default battle music is playing, you have to purposefully fail the surprise attack.
- When you get a new deva gauntlet just throw it away.

Regarding Equipment
-
Don't change it.

Why should I try this, and what makes it fun?
Well for me, I thought Hagokoro was a balls easy game with almost 0 eroticism. Offense was too good, and you'd roll through enemies. If you equipped the best stuff, you'd see no adult content basically.

What's different?
The equipment Bleached Cotton - you give .2 damage, and you take .2 damage.
The girls can't really hurt you that hard physically, but you can't hurt them that hard with physical attacks either.
Every time you see something lewd your atk temporarily increases for the square you're in. It won't help much in your damage tho.

The equipment Wind Armor - If you get drawn by a sexual temptation move you might gain a shadow flash.
Sexual temptation attacks are different from temptation state.
Whenever you take damage, your lust also goes up. If you take damage from a normal attack while your lust is high, you'll be in a temptation state. Wind Armor has a relatively low chance of activating and will not activate AT ALL, if you go into a temptation state from a regular attack. If you want extra lives you might need to let some attacks through while you have the leeway to escape and survive.

Wind Armor is optional
W/o it this playstyle makes the game almost impossible, especially with dopplegangers, and enemy reinforcement, but if you're a masochist who thinks they can make due with just the extra flashes you get from playing normally then you can remove this.

There are four ways to hurt the enemy in a sufficient manner with this equipment.
1. Poison status effect. Poison makes it so they damage themselves whenever they take actions.
2. Escaping sex. The Deva Gauntlet has the ability of the umbrella. You damage the girls as you attempt to escape grabs.
3. You can't do it unless you change weapons so I'm not telling.
4. You can't do it unless you change weapons... so i'm still not telling.

This will make the game a bit more difficult and much more erotic.
You heal from attacking, so you might think you want to be on your fastest weapon all the time... but... no. You won't be able to reliably stop their lust attacks. If they start a sex motion they're cured of all illnesses.
Maybe go counter weapon then? It's good for stopping lust attacks... if you get a counter in.
Ok 3rd weapon then. Well if you don't hit often enough how are you going to poison?

All weapons have all the traits of every other equipped weapons. 3rd weapon can poison. 1st weapon can heal.

The bleached cotton will make it so you can actually survive an ejaculation and keep struggling if there aren't that many enemies, and your health is high enough.

Spoiler for relatively large challenge.
Enemy Reinforcements and Doppleganger are actually possible to fight through. Careful use of the 3rd weapon, and shadow strike to stop the enemies from taking action could do stuff. Poison, and sex attack damage can reduce their health without more enemies appearing.

you get sets of the same colour cards like 3 reds or more once you get 3 groups of 3 different colour cards you win the round

on a side note we have a release date from the video 7/23

The girls are not coloured in the demo when i play it, they're all white. Any idea why this is?

some girls are coloured when i played the demo like the school uniform ones most of them are white but it is a short demo and the video does show you can customize the characters dont know if that will effect the story characters or its like custom story stuff.

I've also played the tutorial a few times with an autotranslator and start to get the gist of it - it's quite the simple game really when it comes down to it but perfect for a game likes this.

It just has to be three times three of the same color. Or it can also be six of the same color and three of the same color.
Getting patterns with the numbers (Three of a kind like 7, 7, 7 or incremental like 4, 5, 6) give you bonus points.

It's important that it's about the cards you hold.
The ones you select are the ones you discard and aren't relevant to you anymore.

Hello i know i’m kinda LATE but i have these issues that i can’t pass level 1-1 since no enemies appear, i’ve also seen ppl writing to change to jap and uni codes etc.
Thing is i don’t know how to do that.

It would really make my day if someone could like do a tutorial video or just a step by step list.
