Facebook

Re: Facebook

At the risk of sounding like a complete idiot, what in the hell is facebook. Yes I've heard of it, but I honestly have no idea what it is. Plus alot of my friends and relatives keep asking me to get on it, so I'm kind of curious.

Its myspace without the ability to post cool stuff, and is a bit safer.
-Also, you "updated your status" with anything you want.

I hate facebook, yes i have one, and no you can't have it. Honestly I HATE all the bullshit people post. I care about maybe 5% about everything posted by my friends, and rarely do i comment because its something thats not even important.

Re: Facebook

Sure why the fuck not?

The only "friends" I have on it are family members or just people my sister told me to add.

It's kinda sad really.

It all comes down to personal preference, really. I had myspace all through High School, simply because that's what my friends had. I never went out of my way to meet anyone outside the people I knew IRL, because at least half the pages on there made me say 'wtf is wrong with this person'.
Once I got out of High School, everyone was using Facebook, so I hopped on there, but still had my Myspace. Eventually I got rid of Myspace, though, because people kept trying to 'friend' me, and I had no idea who they were, nor did I want to going by their info, pictures, and overall page. There were also the CONSTANT web-cam site people... 'girls' made Myspace pages and invited you to their 'private chat', and it was always some web-cam site that I'd bet you'd have to pay for. The biggest reason, however, is one of my ex-girlfriends was on it, and she kept bugging the shit out of me. This is the psycho one, btw, for any of you that might remember me mentioning her, though I don't expect you to, really.
ANYWAYS.
So yeah, dropped Myspace, stayed on Facebook. So far, Facebook has been better for me than Myspace was. Sure, you get the annoying invites from friends to come 'play Farmville (or some other 'game') with me!', but I get that half as frequently as I got spam mail in my Myspace folder. It also just seems a whole lot easier to find people I know on Facebook.

Fix yer link, it sends people to their own home page, not to your profile page :p

It's just about seeing what your friends are up to / have been up to recently. Also people write amusing things as their statuses and other people comment or click the like button.

For example I had a status a while back that was "Finally saw Avatar, shame the good guys lost" which got a lot of likes. Then depending on how much you view someone's profile / comment on / like their stuff, you are more likely to see their statuses in your news feed.

Re: Facebook

It also has a lot of games and is a procrastinator's (or anyone easily distracted *cough*) worst nightmare.

Re: Facebook

I procrastinate but I never got into their crappy games or any of its crap.

To answer Sin's question, it was where I started talking to a girl I worked with who later decided she would make up rumours that I was sexually harassing her which led to my demotion. She even had her friend, another supervisor, go around to people spreading these rumours, and encouraging the girls to submit false reports "to protect her girls"; I found out about that little one when a friend of mine was approached and asked to do this. She almost attacked the person asking her to do this.

However, I recently changed my profile pic to that of a slowpoke, and posted the status "May the 5th be with you." This in itself is awesome enough to warrant a repost here.

Re: Facebook

Hmmm. I don't really use Facebook for procrastination that much. And I'm not addicted to it like some of my peers. No, what I use for procrastination, and the thing I check probably around ten times a day is ULMF.

But we all agreed right? The first step is admitting, the second is enjoying.^^

Re: Facebook

I think I'll pass, already have enough distractions as is. I mean if really wanted to talk to my friends or family, I already have enough ways to do that as is.
