Late to the party, due to computer stupidness, but condolences, MF. Sucks the big one and *hugs*

My hate, since there's really no other place to put this, is stupid little things that ruin huge things. Sitting in my chair on break from work and I apparently didn't realize how close I was to my tower. I spin real quick to get up and go back to work and I hear a "cricht" sort of noise and the "buh-bong" of my USB drive being disconnected from the computer. Slew of curses later, I find the bit that connects it to the computer bent at a horrible angle. The computer won't recognize it and I can't wedge it back into the casing.

All my files and backup are now sitting in limbo until I get ahold of a couple of places here in town in the hopes that they can pull the information off of it for me. And the kicker of it is, that's always been one of my big fears, because I see how fragile the damn things are. I just wanted to cry for like, two hours afterward. Thankfully, had third Christmas with my galfriend and we got and gave each other nifty stuff, so I feel better, but now it's sort of looming again. Wish me luck.

Thanks Copper, it really hurts losing him like we did, and it was just so damn sudden too. I know it'll take the whole family a long time to get past this enough for everyday life to return to somewhat normal, and his parents likely never will get back to anything resembling normal for a long time if ever. I mean he was only 35 years old and while yeah sure he was quite overweight, he was actually in quite good health considering that fact other than the flu he had, which is now what many of us including his doctor are believing to be what did him in. His doctor from what I've been told said to my cousin's mom that he wasn't positive, but fairly sure that my cousin had that damned bird flu that's been going around and that's what did it.

Also I'm sorry to hear about your PC messing up as well. It's always bad when someone's messes up. Hope you get it fixed.

My fiancee had her identity stolen and a large chunk taken out of her name and credit. My checks are slow lately and I'm not as on top of my bills as I used to be and it only just sank into my head how sad it is that last month I was happy with how much LESS money I owed each week. Family hasn't been able to afford our house for a while now and it's becoming more and more clear that we have to move. The amount of time it will take for my fiancee and me to rid our debt, pool our resources, and move in together is just stretching.

Definitely not good. :/ Here's hoping that you can get some closure and find out if it was, indeed, that. Sudden always sucks. Hell, even if you know it's coming, it sucks. But, as we tend to say, might not be much, but you've got us *hugs again*

Thanks, though the computer itself is fine. It's my thumb drive. I'm looking at about 250 bucks to get them to pull the data off of it, but it's better than the local guy that I found who gave me a 50-50 shot at recovery and was going to charge me 35 bucks an hour. Only bad thing is, these guys are 20 minutes away and I still have to mail the thing to them. Beh.

This is my first time living in an area with woodpeckers. It's rather irritating because my current residence doesn't have a doorbell, so I'll hear a slight knocking and think someone's at the door. After a second or two (and usually before getting out of the chair or bed) I'll realize that it sounds more like a woodpecker's pecking than the doorbell... but by that point, it's already distracted me or, worse, woken me up.

Pesky little bastards.

I hate Winter Wind. Specifically on any flatland, but the on the plains it truly is a whistling harbinger from Hell, bringing pain, ice, and a numb dread that things will not improve until the sorrowful howl moves elsewhere.

Did I mention it's fucking cold and I don't like it?

I really, really hate rich people who "tune" their cars and turn beautiful cars into ugly abominations of the cars they once were. Same goes for people who think that putting black rims on a prius makes it any less a good idea badly executed

My internet 'provider' doesn't officially choke bandwidth like some allegedly do. But after having my torrent downstream repeatedly crash on me from for example 2mb/s to 50kb/s after only a few seconds(where it stayed) made me suspicious.

So I downloaded another client with the option of ignoring unencrypted peers (should've done so a long time ago) and voilà, problem solved.

I find it humiliating that companies in this country are allowed to officially lie like that. Although it could well be that I am mistaken for reasons unknown to me. If so, please enlighten me.

I REALLY hate escort-type missions in RPGs. Especially when you've got to protect some idiot-dickweed of an NPC who insists on trying to Leeroy ahead while you're trying to clean out a group of attacking hostiles...

Yeah.

Although, I at least have to give the game I'm on this much... Much of the time, those who you're tasked with escorting/aiding in instances can at least hold their own for a little while if they get stupid.

Man, I do sooo agree with you!! They either charge ahead and get themselves killed or walk so painfully slow that you die of old age before you finish the mission And if they are armed, they tend to only shoot the target that you were about to kill.

Dynasty/Samurai Warriors used to be like that, too. You either had to kill every freaking enemy around them in order to get them to move or, now, they run ahead of you and if you don't keep up, they get ganked hardcore. When the game says "Stay with Liu Bei" you better fucking stay with Liu Bei.

I live in an old house with thin walls and my downstairs neighbor is annoying me. It's one thing to hear assault rifle fire the whole time, since he's probably playing CoD or CS or something. But on top of that he appears to suck at it so I can hear him groaning and shouting the whole time.
