The catgirl raid is a pretty complex event...
Oh this too complicated for casuals and simple wonkers, nooow I feel we need another wiki along side to TLS... I want to go to wiki page to just play a porn game - that terrifying... in good manner =P

Hello!
I just finished KoD 0.2.0, and noticed that, for scouting, you just had the text "HAVEN'T FIGURED OUT HOW TO MAKE THIS INTERESTING YET". My recommendation is to make it so that scouting leads to random battles against random people and monsters, with sex for either winning or losing.

While we intend for the VN aspects of the game to keep it fairly approachable, we hope to add significant complexity as the story increases for those who want that!

That... should have been commented out. =P My bad! Your ideas are just fine, but they require the creation of a lot of new assets and we already had our time for this update devoted to other content. The other ideas we had felt too much like filler, so we decided to include this aspect later when we could use its full potential.

Yep I definitely want that, the complexity layers for different outcome - one of nifty feature of your games.

hmm got some nice potential there, maybe some random fights could lead to rape after losing/winning? e.g. winning against a catgirl patrol could have her release the catgirl for some service :p

I got the perfect 6-girl result right off the bat.

Just talk to everyone and then do the smart stuff (shadow the raid, double-fake, use real bait) When you have a prisoner, don't be a dick to her.

Simple enough.

Re: Kingdom of Deception [Patreon Release July 27]

Changes in version 0.2.2:
- Improvements to the Neve x Maply scene.
- Further bugs and typos.

Major New Content:
- An incident involving catgirls can be played beginning to end.
- New jobs have been unlocked in camp.
- Working at the bar has been expanded, with a sequence of scenes available.
- There is a sidequest involving a human soldier.

Minor Changes:
- Enemies no longer get a final blow and ties have been mostly removed, since the intent here wasn't widely understood.
- Equipment stats now listed in tent screen.
- You can now decline the sex scene after beating Lutvrog.

List of new sex scenes:
- In the process of resolving the catgirl quest, you may encounter a scene with two variants.
- Depending on how you choose to resolve the event, you may get a relief tents scene at the end. It has three different variants, two of which have four ranks depending on your performance.
- Working in the Silvertusk Bar can now lead to a sequence of scenes.
- The soldier sidequest has a scene with two major variants.

Enjoy!

Re: Kingdom of Deception [Patreon Release July 27]

Man it was hard staying away from this topic for 1 week to avoid spoilers, but it was worth it. Anyway I just finished playing the new update.

First things first: While I can't do the same with The Last Sovereign because I don't own RPGMaker, RenPy games you can actually look at the code to make optimized playthroughs. If Sierra or Nomo are against it, I will edit this post later.

I looked everywhere for that Neve scene in the teaser (with the glowy red eyes) but could not find it. After playing the game normally a couple of times (more like dozens), I started replaying it with the code open to add some info to the playthrough notes I made for the first release. I found out that that scene isn't in the game. I was extremely... I think sad is the right word here, FeelsBadMan :( Is it ever going to be released to the public?

With that out of the way, great update. Playing it multiple times testing choices and combinations made me see how things are branching out already and that the game will have many different paths. I love that! I replayed it until I found out how I want things to go exactly (for now at least). As a side note, fuck Tekrok! Please give us the option to kill him lol.

There's one tiny bit of inconsistency that I would like to see fixed: Not every Orc you get from the sparring option at the Training Grounds gives XP. It's a completely different game being able to spar with Lutvrog being level 3 because you got XP from every Orc or spar with Lutvrog being level 2 because you didn't get that XP.

Another thing that has been in the game from version 0.1 but just now caught my eye: After the trial Neve says: "I have somewhat of an interest in ruins myself, Sabia. And believe me, I am certain there was nothing in that region. Makes one wonder if you were telling the truth about why your patrol was there in the first place..." But if you tell the trial something else (I go with Hunting for Bandits), then Sabia would never had told anyone that she was there searching for ruins. Just something minor, but it's there. Unless Sabia told Neve in private and I missed it.

One small error that happens after the trial: Eavesdropping the Orcs at the Trading Lodge. It looks like their lines are switched; if Kulgan is alive they'll talk about him like he is dead and vice-versa.

One last error that I found: When the Warchief asks you who do you want to give the credit for the catgirl raid, if you pick Rokgrid without having made any alliances previously, the Warchief chief will say "Very well. Make it official with Tekrok, then we will discuss our specific plans." when he should tell you to make it official with Rokgrid. And then when you're talking to Rokgrid his name suddenly changes to Tekrok. Weird times.

The bar groping scenes: Had the best art in this update in my opinion. It would be awesome if the outcome had two variants depending on Sabia's Dominance or Submission. I feel the current outcome is perfect for a more dominant Sabia; kill the motherfuckers who dared to speak against her during the trial. But a more submissive Sabia could in fact lead the Orcs to the relief tents instead of the dark alley and "gain their support" there. It wouldn't even need new art; just use the same barmaid outfit art that was used for impressing Tekrok's crew, with maybe very little variants if any. This way people who choose to not side with Tekrok still have a way to see this beautiful CG. It would only need new text of course. I think this would make for a more satisfying experience for the players that expected something more to happen after all the groping. I know I did :D

One small piece of observation about the Sabia x Barrin scene: I felt like Sabia's face was a little bit different in this scene. I really can't point my finger at the cause though. Maybe it's just the angle? Or maybe I'm just used to seeing her hair parted the other way? Or the top of her skull could be just a tad bit less round? It is a great piece of art anyway!

I decided that my main save is going to be Sabia NOT whoring herself at the relief tents for an easy start and staying as neutral as possible as far as Orc Politics are concerned, which means I side with Dajrab and never introduce myself to Rokgrid or Tekrok. I also want Sabia to be more dominating instead of submissive so I opt into choices that increase that stat. And I want Sabia to support Freedom more than Slavery so my choices will reflect that. Yes you will miss some scenes following this but nothing stops you from having multiple saves to see all the CGs anyway.

And so I'm sharing my playthrough notes for this route if anyone is interested. It lists all the options you should choose in spefic order in order to achieve the results I wanted. I optimized it with many other aspects in mind, including stamina usage and other hidden scores. It is kind of a walkthrough if you're interested in following the same choices I made. Of course the choices aren't set in stone and I could change them based on their implications on future updates. Again, if Sierra or Nomo don't want all these hidden variables to be made public, I could edit the notes to just list the choices and remove the variables.

I will keep it updated in future versions; RenPy savegames aren't very predictable when the game is being constantly updated, at some point you may have to restart your save. Keeping these notes will allow me to quickly go back to exactly where I was.

Anyway, sorry everyone for the wall of text. Got a little carried away :D

Please no, my poor brain is still trying to piece together the most optimal playthrough for every variable and figuring out how to optimally play around certain alternative choices, more complexity would be the death of me <_<

Thanks a lot for the in depth feedback!

Well while looking at the code is a bit of cheating your way to results, we understand and have seen other people prefer that than use the ingame tools, so its up to the player if they want to read your guide or do it themselves.

The Neve pic is something I did on the side as I was experimenting with using different light source placements, not a scene in the game. I usually do sketches as I train or do random drawings, so you arent missing on anything for the game. All the exclusive content we give to higher tier patrons are side things not scenes we cut out, I just liked this one so I used it in the version image.

Glad you like the choices and branches we like to give everyone something and have the player feel in control once the game is done. As for Tekrok, he is one of the variations of orcs you meet, he just sees his race as superior as most orcs in fiction are, while I dont want to reveal about killing anyone, you can just undermine him all the way through if you dislike him =P

Thanks for the detailed bug reports, will look into them!

For the bar scene, it is a CG that shows Sabia in her default state/attitude of getting disrespected for no reason or gain, and how she answers with not having a problem to use her body as bait if it helps her remove her enemies. Scenes where orcs do get to have her will happen, only in different context and based on player choice direction, the same way it was with the tents and Tekrok, this scene just wasnt that.

For the Sabia x Barrin scene, uhm I saw that feedback from other places too, I think I made the angle too extreme. I am considering if its that big of a problem to go back and tweak it. But thanks for mentioning it, I will have in mind if I do the same top down face.

It isn't exactly "cheating" (well, it is), it's just the min-maxer in me wanting to get the best results possible :) I do play the game a good amount of times before looking at the code to perfect my playthroughs. I get a good feel of how I want things to go exactly and then do it with the code open to optimize. It's just something that I can't help but doing. I imagine I would go nigh insane if I could do the same with TLS LOL. It also helps me in providing more detailed feedback.

Great! But I - still - want to kill him.

I admit that does make sense.

The art itself was amazing, don't get me wrong. If I had never seen Sabia before I would never even say anything. It's just that she looked just a little bit different there. But it's nothing big, really. Like I said I can't even point my finger at what made me feel that way.

As Nomo said, it's fine! As the game gets more complex, fans might want to track the variables in more detail, so if you want to contribute your observations then, that'd be great.

This actually has to do with how the orcs are randomly generated. Some of their physical appearance is only cosmetic, but their stats can change as well, and this includes their level (which determines how much XP Sabia can get). The orcs with potbellies have -1 level, so if you want XP fast, don't fight them.

One small error that happens after the trial: Eavesdropping the Orcs at the Trading Lodge. It looks like their lines are switched; if Kulgan is alive they'll talk about him like he is dead and vice-versa.
Oh, you're right! What you said about the Rokgrid dialogue being in the wrong place is correct too. Fixed both, thanks for reporting them!

And I want Sabia to support Freedom more than Slavery so my choices will reflect that. Yes you will miss some scenes following this but nothing stops you from having multiple saves to see all the CGs anyway.
You may get some special scenes on that route too! While we want to give players the option to avoid sex if they want, in this game the freedom route will not be a sexless one.

Make this one ten times more complex than TLS :D
Please no, my poor brain is still trying to piece together the most optimal playthrough for every variable and figuring out how to optimally play around certain alternative choices, more complexity would be the death of me <_<
Haha, well, I will say that I intend for KoD to be complex in different ways. TLS gives you an established main character and choices that fit his personality. With KoD, Sabia can develop in more ways, so I want to explore giving players branching choices to a greater degree than I have in any past games.

Good to know. I'll add this to my playthrough notes.

I have one more bug for you guys: Sparring with Lutvrog. You can do it before the Orc Trial once, and if you try to ask him to spar again, he won't accept it.

After the trial however, even if you sparred with him before the trial, he will accept it as if he's never sparred or had sex with Sabia before. It's a full repeat of the same event so I think this isn't intended; Potentially bad game balance wise if this is indeed a bug: You get double the XP and other hidden variables by doing this twice.

The tradeoff there in my experience is that Sabia feels like a very weak character, I find myself less interested in Sabia and her plight than just about anyone else in the camp. Compared to Noxian Nights which has a similar premise I don't really get a sense of the stakes or why the character is so cross about being betrayed (especially since she doesn't exactly seem shocked that something like this had happened) In Noxian Nights you come know WHY the character wants revenge (Soldier, everyone close to her was killed in a dishonorable and traitorous manner by the person in command) and you learn what you're up against quite quickly (Sulla, with a detachment of Noxian soldiers in an entrenched position) so the "what" and "why" are clear and filling in the "how" drives most of the narrative.

In KoD so far the "what" and "why" are vague at best, making the "how" of it detached as well, and most of the dialogue so far has been about elaborating on the camp and it's denizens which further paints the humans as rather unsympathetic, further undermining Sabia's position as the lead.

That's not to say it's not interesting so far, it's just that the main character being the least interesting (in my opinion, of course) can be concerning (though, given how early into the story we are so far that can easily change)

I suppose my main issue is that I don't really get what Sabia is about beside her revenge. Does she have anyone or anything she cares about besides all that? You don't really get a clear picture of her goals and aspirations before revenge took center stage. So far the plot of the orcs trying to find their place in a world where they lost it all is much more interesting than the comparatively trite revenge of... yea we don't really know much about Sabia at all (yet?).

So while it's going to be interesting to see how she grows as a character, right now there's little reason to root for her specifically.

Re: Kingdom of Deception [Patreon Release July 27]

I am overall fundamentally disappointed in this entire genre of H-games...

Because this is the only non-akabur one I have ever seen that appears to be worth my time at all!

Very impressed, looking forward to future updates. :)
