In today's news...

Re: In today's news...

Heh, if it makes you feel any better, even the people who work with quantum stuff pretty much throw up their hands in disgust at their findings too. There really is still a lot of conjecture, just that we've experimentally done entanglement now so we do know it's a thing (and also discovered with our current knowledge there's no way we can capitalize on it either...)

Re: In today's news...

Super late, but very sad to hear of Chyna's passing. One of the two personas and depictions that my mind personally goes to when one says the words "Warrior Woman". Back in her hey day before the drugs and porn, she really embodied the ideal and picture of a female fighter for me personally. The only other one my mind goes to is Xena. A rare specimen and gem, someone who could beat the crap out of anyone, male or female. A real loss. :(

Re: In today's news...

So, some of you guys may know of the classic 90s movie, Uncle Buck, starring John Candy, right? Well, apparently the executives at ABC thing it's a good idea to remake that as a tv show with an all black cast.

Re: In today's news...

Don't normally post around here, but that last bit kinda makes me sad. I'm a fan of many of John Candy's films and losing him was a big loss to comedy. Naive though it may be, I kinda want people to just leave his stuff alone. This is just another cheap cash in on nostalgia and it's gonna have 0 effort put into it. But that's just me. Maybe it's the movie snob in me talking. I hope I'm wrong on this one.

Re: In today's news...

I remember that movie, though only vaguely. I seem to recall liking it. not much else to add, really. Remakes and reboots aren't my favorite, though.

No, you're right in hating it.The way they portray "uncle Buck" in this series... is kinda like taking a shit on one of John Candy's iconic characters. Here's a for it.

Re: In today's news...

Its not today's news specifically, but Canada is kind of on fire right now. /understatement of the year

Re: In today's news...

I love John Candy and the movie Uncle Buck. The scene where he shows up with the drill? Priceless.

The all black cast is a bit of an odd decision, not that I care what color people are, but it's almost as if 'diversity' means having a cast of any one color, as long as it's not white. Or even like they're trying to erase or get some sort of revenge for the time when t.v. WAS just white people.

Whatever though, make the cast green oozes from xylphi, I won't be watching it.

Re: In today's news...

I'm sorta in the slot that I really don't care about the race of the actors. What matters to me is effort. I'm sure some of the people involved are good actors, but if they're given shit to work with then the end product won' be worth it. A good actor with bad direction will become bad. But give any actor good direction and they'll do solid work. Plus, like with Ghostbusters, it's just another cheap cash-in that lacks any of the charm the original had.

Re: In today's news...

I'm more upset that they didn't find a fat black actor to play Uncle Buck. I mean, it doesn't really capture it otherwise, imho.

Heh, it's close enough it almost colours the sky where i am. Whole city has been banding together trying to shelter and provide aid for the people that were evacuated. Not a single known casualty though, despite only having two hours warning for the evacuation. So yeah, go us.

well, that's good news at least. Keep us posted just in case it gets closer to you.

Re: In today's news...

Will do, Dear. Nobody is expecting it to get that far, thankfully, it's pretty under Control by now. Missed out on the extreme flooding a few years back as well, nothing quite seems to reach here. XD

Re: In today's news...

That one guy who got famous for murdering a black kid for walking through his neighborhood is with a starting bid of 5 grand. Now, I am certainly no expert on the prices of firearms, but a quick search suggested that the average price for such an item is about 250-400 dollars. I find this difference in price rather questionable.

In other news, have a kangaroo.

I wish more news would contain clumsy kangaroos. Definitly a better story then about guns. o.o Especially if the story about the gun is so low as in this case >.< stupid people....

Re: In today's news...

I woke up and went to work and checked the news during my first period class and saw the article on my sidebar about him selling the gun. By third period, I saw an article saying it had been pulled.

Re: In today's news...

Completely regardless of what actually happened(Court says self defence, which is why he's not in jail), he's never going to walk the streets without fearing for his life from a vigilante that thinks the court got it wrong, which kind of makes any sort of job that interacts with people hard. And that's most jobs these days

So if he can make some money doing that, that's probably going to be money he's using to pay rent and food
It's a bit of bad taste, sure. But if there's idiots out there willing to buy that and it's all legal then I don't see a problem

I think that's the main problem in this story. It's no big deal if he puts the gun up for sale completely overpriced. The problem or rather the sad part of it is that some people probable buy it for such a price because of it's backstory.

There are also people who collect Nazi-paraphernalia. Some people are weird, best leave it at that as long as they're not hurting anyone.
