In today's news...

Re: In today's news...

Well okay, reliable comic. XD

Sad news for us in the UK, Labour MP Jo Cox passed away after being attacked outside of her Constituency Advice Surgery in Yorkshire this afternoon, she was shot repeatedly and attacked with a knife, the suspect has been taken into custody and publicly named, Police believe this is a lone-attack with no connections to any group or such.

Sad for democracy, as she gave her life for it, supporting better rights and working against slavery, as well as helping charities. At least they got the sod who did this quickly enough.

Very rare we have anything like this in Britain, since we actually have -very- stringent gun-controls, but rarer somebody would, apparently, intentionally target a democratically elected individual who was liked across the main parties, and goes without saying Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn has expressed, like others have spoken of, deep, profound shock, and the thoughts of all the party and family are with her, her husband and young children.

Re: In today's news...

Just go back to the Days of Awesome, and establish a whole bunch of colonies. Rebuild the British Empire upon which the sun never set. :3

Think it'd be a little harder to do this time around. Given that all those spear-chucking natives know how to use guns now...

Re: In today's news...

Also colonies have gone a bit out of vogue.

If it's any "consolation", the international economic structure has most former colonies solidly in a submissive position though.

Re: In today's news...

That's Liberia

Lets be honest, they're known for cannibalism and being a failed state

And General Butt-Naked, who believed satan protected him in battle as long as he ritually sacrificed a young child before battle and wore nothing but his shoes.
Somehow he survived long enough to repent and start a charity or something to try to make the place better

Re: In today's news...

Obviously Satan DID protect him. Occam's razor, people.

Re: In today's news...

Western generals have always had wet dreams about being able to win wars with air forces. It has yet to work. I mean, drones are useful tools, I guess, but as support.

Re: In today's news...

Really not even a question of equipment/training, the fact is even if the ENTIRE population of Britain (or is it England, I'M SORRY I DON'T KNOW THE PROPER NAME OF YOUR NATION) and it's territories were to militarize they wouldn't have the manpower to subjugate that many places without the advantage of guns v spears. If you're committing genocide that's a different matter, but you're trying to make these people work for you.

Don't get me wrong though, I'm thankful that the Empire buttfucked so many places into learning English.

Note: CGP Grey is not 100% accurate but he is mostly right. Just don't use the specifics on a test.

Well... we can pick our own cotton now.

As we can with most other formerly labour intensive jobs, like mining, farming, logging, etc. Most of the hard work is now taken over by machines and robots.

What little work force would be required could actually be flown direct from home, providing enough financial incentives to get people to relocate for several months at a time

Re: In today's news...

You say that, but maybe the robots don't like working for you.
What if they go skynet on you? Britbots unite!

Re: In today's news...

Well thats why China will probably end up winning the Robot Wars, because they'll program them to enjoy hard work, subservience, and no desires for freedoms.

Well technically, if 65 million people were somehow all able to fully militarise, I'm pretty sure it'd outnumber all other established militaries currently on the planet combined, perhaps by an order of multiplies. But then it's not like all of those would be fighting fit or could remotely be equipped/supported anyway, even as crazy an idea as it is.

Despite the size difference in terms of land mass, the UK is only a fifth of the US in terms of population. Approximately 65m to 321m. It's never really been manpower the UK armed forces lack in recent decades. It's more simply that we don't have the budget for all the equipment and fancy toys that US soldiers employ. The biggest thing limiting our recruitment capacity would likely be the incredibly strict selection standards, since we don't use the "Break down, build up" training philosophy any more. I can actually think of at least five people I know/knew personally that all failed to pass selection, for various reasons. As in, before even hitting basic training.

Re: In today's news...

Not surprised. Disgusted and appalled and horrified. But not surprised.

Timothy Ciboro, a former firefighter, told WTVG-TV in a jailhouse interview that he loves his kids. “I miss my babies with all my heart. I want them to do right. That’s the way they were raised. If they have any questions, all they have to do is open the Bible and they will have all the answers.”

The post (on Facebook) from May 4 says, “For those unaware: Target will be allowing men in the girls’ restrooms of its stores and will also allow women in the boys’ restrooms of its stores- all to support queerism and confusion.”

From the source news site:
Once inside, the girl told the woman that her mother had left her and her two siblings and went to Las Vegas. She then told the woman her dad had taken her in but she had run away "because she gets in trouble for wetting the bed," for which he "puts handcuffs on her ankles" and "makes her sleep in the basement."

Re: In today's news...

People are truly awful to children sometimes.
Seriously, how hard can it be to not treat kids in a way resembling torture?

Speaking of which, another Rotherham style gang over at Britain

25 men groom and sexually abuse large amounts of girls over 8 years. Possibly more but at least one from age 13 until 21

The UK is common parlance. Short for The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

It doesn't matter, because apparently you have an army of autonomous robots at your disposal! (since it's so much cheaper to develop, build, and maintain them than people right?) I certainly hope they're 3 laws compliant...

Though for a reply actually addressing your' comment, it's really not about outnumbering just the military of the target countries. Even those liberian (SP?) guys from the joke post managed to kill soldiers or well um, some of the guys they were fighting.

Brexit news, EU says:
"Stay in or we will hurt you!"

You know, in case anyone was still having doubts or didn't know that the EU is basically just the mafia

Re: In today's news...

Well, with the rise of nationalist movements all across Europe, the EU figures it HAS to be tough on the UK in order to not encourage others.

Re: In today's news...

That's kinda the problem

It's literally saying "You will do as we say or else", because people are tired of the EU undermining the sovereignty of countries. So nationalists rise to the occasion to demand the EU's removal and their country back.

If they truly wanted to avoid the rise of nationalists, they wouldn't have acted like tyrants, fascists and mobsters.

The EU caused this mess to begin with, now they get to deal with the fallout. But with the complete lack of awareness they're displaying I would not be surprised if they'd try to start a war in Europe just to keep their reich expanding.
