Prob because of having to trade with the US, most of the headaches are. Imagine trying to order exactly 50 lbs of something, but your contact only knows kilograms; makes for fun times. Heck, Canada's measurements are kind of a mess being so close and tied with the US, most of us know both systems.

Years ago we had a fucking metal rod that defined 1 meter.
Now it's "The metre is defined as the length of the path traveled by light in a vacuum in 1/299 792 458 seconds."
So what do we use do define 1 inch?
Oh right... The imperial inch is defined as 0.0254 metres. Literally no one gave a fuck and just used metric system to define imperial one. Says a lot.
