If you're crashing while using Windows 8.1, this might fix your problem:
Where I found the game was crashing from was an incompatiblity with Windows 8.1 version of the dmsynth.dll file, which is a part of some audio processing program.
To fix it, you can either upgrade to Windows 10 (which has a compatible dmsynth.dll file) or find a Windows 7 version of the dmsynth.dll file, which HotB was meant to work with, and simply overwrite the Windows 8.1 version of the file with the Windows 7 version.
The dmsynth.dll is in your (C:/Windows/System32)
Idk if this will fix it for everyone, but it did for me

I did a straight upgrade from Win 7 to Win 10 and HotB runs fine for me.

Keep in mind if you're playing the latest version with the most recent version of the translation, it'll crash on certain scenes. That's because new content was added but the translation hasn't been updated in a long while so they don't mix well.

Hello everyone. Recently I started replaying HoTB after a year or so without touching it, but couldn't remember where my favorite scenes were or how to get the new scenes etc etc. I gave a look at the threads here to see if there was a list or walkthrough but couldn't find one or at least one where all the scenes in the game where in 1 place and also where to go and who to talk to to open new locations etc, so I decided to make my own shitty list. I Attatched my saves that I used to be able to quickly access the different scenes in the game like those that get locked after you pass a certain point.
Now let me be clear: It ain't pretty. Although I did spend some time trying to find different interactions with different enemies, I probably missed some more obscure thing like getting high ecstasy sensitivity or whatever. There is only basic formatting since I did it mostly for myself, on the fly as I was playing the game.
But if it helps someone then why not share? So here it is. Iam still doing the newest updates content like the Lab and stuff, so the walkthrough ends after the Assar fight. After iam done I'll update the txt. Also I must have missed a few scenes or interactions here and there or maybe even a game mechaninc I don't know, so let me know about those please.

Thanks so much mate! This is what I've been looking for in this thread for a long time as well as I'm in the exact same situation you are. But since there are so many specific conditions to get the scenes and that in turn requiring a ton of research as nobody has done a comprehensive list, I was put off from even downloading the game again.
I really appreciate the tremendous effort you put into writing all of this down and then deciding to share it! Kudos to you.
Ps.: Speaking of kudos... I don't typically write anything on these forums, didn't we have a kudos or reputation system or something? I tried to give you points or reputation or whatever e-peen currency and couldn't find anything. I could have sworn we used to have that.
Edit: The fuck? 4 posts? I swear this thing is counting backwards or something. All those years and I distinctly remember having posted more than 4 savegames alone!

i took a screen shot and i was one of those that complained about the harassment.
some one was trying to neg rep every single post i made on that thread with lol's and faces. i didn't think they'd disable the whole thing. i thought they'd look into it and revoke that one user who was doing the harassing.

Can any1 help me? My game seems to run in slow motion or lag when its started up and doesn't get any better. Before I had no problem playing the game, it ran smoothly before. If any1 has any ideas pls let me know. THX

Ah, thank you both. Interesting. Although understandable with the nonsense you show in the screenshot there, assuming of course you're not an isolated incident. This place is big enough that I would think this sort of nonsense happened to a lot of people contributing things. So probably for the best if it's gone. I must say I'm somewhat embarassed that I did not think to look in the most obvious place for such an announcement.
Regardless, this means that my heartfelt 'thank you' for your savegames and, to me more importantly, the list of events and how to get them will have to suffice. So again, thank you, Dartred, for compiling all that information. This is a great starting point for everyone who got into this game and is puzzled about how to get which scenes. I *really* do appreciate the work you did and the effort you put in.

Even the onboard graphics on my shitty media box could run the game, but not my older but significantly more powerful laptop.
Sorry If I am no help, but just wanted to chime in since I asked about the exact same problem back then and got zero replies. Apparently it's not very widespread.
My old computer used to run the game flawlessly until a version update some years ago suddenly made it unplayable. Tried fiddling with the graphics and video driver, but there was no rhyme or reason to it.
Even the onboard graphics on my shitty media box could run the game, but not my older but significantly more powerful laptop.

Don't know what this is because it doesn't seem to be happening for anyone else on this thread. I started a new playthrough because I haven't picked up this game in a long time. Killed the cobolio gang, failed on the testing simulation (natch) and then went and talked to robogirl at the spaceport. Went back to get the lowdown on rats and bats and bad cats and it crashed. Thinking it might be a one-time thing I reloaded, went through all the dialogue again and it still won't let me actually get back into the hunter's office for briefing. This is a fresh installation on a recently formatted Wondows 10 installation with no translation patch, and the error is as follows:

Been a while since I've brushed up on my programming lingo but simply put, the game is trying to perform some common function but it's not able to access it because it doesn't exist, either because a different file is missing, read-only, or something within the already-open code file isn't there, either because it's been renamed the function itself doesn't exist.
If you have two versions of the game, one which has been working and one which hasn't, check the file folders to see if there are any missing files or any files with different names. I've known some people who have redownloaded various games and have similar errors because when the unzipped or downloaded the files, they were renamed by Windows in the process.

Aw man, finding out that only one enemy (flies not included) can get her pregnant makes me a sad pervert. I really hope that it get's an expandsion soon.
I'm also kinda sad for all the time i wasted trying to get her pregnant.
Oh well. Btw, is the "Lab" the end for now?. Because i can't find any new events besides the arbortion clinik.
