Re: virgin island
Yeah, the fact we're pirating the game is not very good. But that aside the idea is good.
There are people here who would translate the game to English for example in exchange for something (or maybe even nothing), so the author could sell the game in English and get more money. A lot of people here and in other places would buy the game since they're usually not expansive and worthy the money. And so everone would be more happy.
Maybe I'm too naive, I don't know, but I really don't get why they don't make English version of these games. I mean, it's not so difficult to translate and a lot of people would buy, I guess.
It's not so difficult but it's a really extensive work. It takes a long time for a single person to translate a game this big, and that's assuming they have the right tools (like having all the text in the game in a separate file for easy replacement, which is highly unlikely with RPG Maker).
The translation would also make it harder to update the game later (specially so if they lacked the separate files for the text).
So... Usually you have to decide you'll want a translation before you even start, so you can start taking precautions for making possible. Then, you either will hire one person (which will take forever to translate) or many (which will be expensive).
Getting someone to do it for free won't work. People doing things for free do it at their own pace, and a job this long might have the person giving up too. But since you need to SELL your game, you really need someone that will finish it.
And again, this being RPG Maker makes it all a lot more annoying. I mean, there's Habisain's tool for 2000 and 2003. But even though it's the best one around (and possibly the only one, too) does not mean it's easy work.
