Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"Ah... yeah Kylie is not afraid of heights in the least bit. Hell back home she climbed trees in the middle of the rain every time a storm came. Loved it, and I loved seeing her so happy and free, since she seemed to be when she did it," Giselle said, noticing that the girl's eyes changed back to normal, and Giselle's darkened mood was starting to drain away to a lighter one now that she was talking about something else. "What um... what did you do with your eyes there?" Giselle then asked curiously.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

My position is an odd one. very rarely you know some people are born with clarvoyant powers. I'm called a justicar. I see the truth in someone's heart. I know Evil at first sight, and it's opposite. I know you aren't evil, but there's a darkness in you you aren't letting free. It will consume you, you know, if you don't let it run sometimes. She said, adding a sugar cube to her tea and sipping on it, her mouth twisting into a light frown.

You can't be good all the time. you never let your anger our, or anything else for that matter. You just bottle it all up. Why do you think it hurt so much to get that? Yes, I saw that memory, it's recent. she said, pointing to the mark of Melora on her arm.

The Darkness of the Tides. A terrible power if I've ever seen one. Talk about strange blessings. Have you practiced with it at all yet? she asked, tiling her hear curiously.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"Mmm... I've been told that before. I... don't like letting out that part of me, unless I really need it," Giselle said, sighing softly as she spoke and shaking her head a little as she sipped her tea. "It worries me to let my dark side come out. I worry that if I do, then I won't stop. And that I'll turn into a dark fey. But, I know you're right that I need to let it out and not bottle it up, else I'll explode," Giselle went on to say, nodding in agreement with Diana.

"And no, not really. I don't even know what to do with it to be honest," Giselle said after a few moments, pulling her arm up to look at the markings of Melora, trying to summon up some of that power to see what she could do with it.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

You should listen and let it out sometimes. was all Diana said, before Giselle tried to summon the ALMIGHTY POWA OF THE SEA GODDESS. and her tea became a weapon that shot out of her cup, across the room, and cleanly sliced a small coffee table in half.

Well then. Fuck that table.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"Mmm, I probably should, yeah," Giselle agreed, sighing as she did, knowing that Diana was probably right about that. "I've just never needed to use my darker side back home. I mean, it's no sunshine and daisies or anything, but it's far better than this place. No offense. Though then again, my home is much smaller in comparison, and more out of the way. There's so... little nature here, it's stifling almost. And Kylie told me, on the way here, that I couldn't sing or anything, that it would only draw attention to me, and attention in this place is bad from what I can tell. I just, feel so alone without her. I mean, even if most didn't like her, she at least knew some of the people here. This place is completely alien to me. I have no friends, no family... well, none that will listen anymore at least as Cosimo's gone crazy, and I don't know where Terra's at either," Giselle went on to say, before she summoned up her power, and split the coffee table in half with her tea, as it flew out of her cup and formed into a sort of blade.

"W-Whoa... that's kind of awesome," Giselle said as she looked at the coffee table, and then back to her teacup, pouring another cup of tea to actually drink this time. "Hmm... maybe I should keep an extra bottle of water with me, for just such an occasion as using it for a weapon then," she then said, looking intrigued by this new power, so much that she completely forgot about the bad mood she'd been in, and was perking up, imagining the possibilities she could use it for.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

I would imagine it's to put you one par with what you're hunting. As for this place? It's pretty nice if you're human. I get awful tired of people judgin it without knowin any of it's history. You'll find most REAL cities of size are much the same. Country Girl. Diana said, raising an eyebrow. If it was perfect we wouldn't be trying to better it. You'll find no demons here, no devils, no fey of unspeakable power. Just, people living their lives. It's this whole situation that's turned the place upside down. People forced out of their homes by Cosimo's war, heading to the east and west to try and avoid the bloodshed that's sure to follow. she continued, setting her cup down.

With all due respect, I'd much prefer if you found Kylie and left with her, Matriarch apparent or no. Hell, even if she became matriarch! All her 'Skill' Aside she does nothing but step on toes and ruffle feathers. And Kill people. No half measures, no compromises, no surrenders or treaties. She picks a target, and destroys it. While Vos may be her friend and Ally, I am her Ally only and only at Vos' request. So while you seem to hate this place, and the situation let me remind you, that She made for herself by refusing to ever back down and constantly embarrassing those around her while being the Patriarchs doted upon adopted daughter, that it is a place many Many people call home. That you are putting their lives on hold for your own, or likely getting some killed if these shards are dangerous. Even This. This... Love, Getting this attached to anyone is against our ways, it's astounding little miss Perfect let it happen for precisely this reason. I imagine you're a target as well, because it will draw whatever these shards really are to protect you and make them easy to capture or exploit. Your only real shot is to turn that plan on it's head and do the opposite, hunt the shards to draw out whoever planned this and kill them. Or just put Kylie back together and let her kill them. No one has seen hide nor hair of this shooter so he's doing the impossible as far as anyone can tell with whatever Gun he's using. And it's obvious somebody hired him because weapons should be Disposable.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"Mmm, maybe it would have been easier for me to understand and see the beauty here, if everything hadn't happened with Kylie and all. It just... hurts, a lot, and makes it hard to see much else," Giselle said, sipping her next cup of tea.

Giselle listened as Diana spoke, and hung her head when the girl was done, looking thoroughly ashamed now as she thought about things. She was likely getting a lot of people hurt and or killed by simply being here, innocent people. Was it her fault? Was it Kylie's fault? Very likely on both counts, Giselle thought as she sat there. Her end goal really was still to save Kylie, and leave as soon as possible. But could she really just let so many innocent people die because of them? The answer was simple, Giselle thought to herself finally, and it was... no, she couldn't let so many innocents die in all this if she could help it.

"I... I'm sorry, Diana. I didn't... well... I suppose I did realize all or at least most of that, but I just didn't care really, because of everything that's happened. When you love somebody, you become blind to all else when they're hurt or in trouble. It's likely why Cosimo's so... crazy right now himself," Giselle said, looking back up at Diana with an apologetic look in her eyes. "I hope you aren't mad at me for what I've been saying. It's just... painful. But, on to other things now, please, it's best if I don't focus on Kylie. What is going on out in the city right now? And where are some interesting points of the city that I may need to check out, or need to steer clear of? Fuck it, just... teach me about this place so that I do understand it, so that I can make a more calculated judgement on it than just what I've seen on the surface so far. Please," she went on to say, trying to cheer up some so she could focus on learning about this place, as that would really be a big help, if she knew how and where to move about without attracting attention to herself.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Diana didn't look angry at all, she just smiled softly. Nothing to apologize for, when you're blind you need someone to see to slap you a bit is all. Try not to forget the little people. We're doing our best, so is the king's personal and public guard. I'm sure we can keep the fallout to a minimum. If we try. But for now? It's best to just get Kylie OFF the streets. I would prioritize either her most helpless parts, or her most dangerous. I know Kylie well enough to guess they're likely ALL dangerous in their own ways. But you know what I mean. she offered, stretching and standing while she thought about Giselle's other question.

There's two you should see. The outlying northern districts, the Lost Districts, and mayyybe Verin's tower. Best view of the place from up there. she said, tilting her head. Well honestly you can't see the whole country from one spot, but it's a decent view. Needless to say the festivals and such are cancelled and the guards have been instructed to stay away from the Wraithes and Demons. King wants us to handle the shadow war on our own and get it done with. To the victor go the spoils I guess.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"Yeah, at least I hope we can. I don't want to be the cause of anyone innocent getting hurt, but I... I can't not do any and everything in my power to save Kylie. And her most helpless parts are likely the ones we want to get first, because if what Gale said is true, then the more dangerous ones will try and kill them, and if that happens... then no more Kylie... at least not as I know her. And yeah, every part of Kylie in a way is dangerous... well, most likely at least," Giselle said, nodding as she figured that finding the more helpless ones would take more legwork because they would be running and whatnot, but that it'd end up being easier to grab them first, though if she found Hecate, the one that was always hungry or whatever Gale had said, then Giselle figured that she would need to try and get her, because she was apparently strong, and didn't necessarily sound evil per se, so a strong ally to get the others back most likely.

"Hmm... so what's Verin's tower? It sounds like a good place to head over to first, to get a good layout of the city. And don't worry, I'm not afraid of heights," Giselle asked curiously, figuring it was as good a place as any to begin.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

It was originally archmage Verin's tower, it's now the city clocktower, the one you can hear all across the country. magic is weird. She said, heading to the door and sticking her head out. And daybreak is upon us. Cmon, streets should be basically empty save the guard. Just ignore them, they'll ignore you. She said, chuckling and stepping out.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"Mhm, magic is weird. If my sister Delilah were here, she would enjoy giving you a lecture on it," Giselle said, chuckling as she followed Diana out, maintaining her spells to hide her fey nature, and nodding when Diana told her to just ignore the guards. "How far is it?" she asked curiously as they walked out.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Bout an hour on foot. You can see it from here. Diana said, pointing at a large tapering tower that jutted up above the other buildings, towering and made of polished white stone.

They were entirely unmolested and unaccosted on the way, several guards about and patrolling, but paying them no mind at all. Only stopping once to ask them if they were alright and if they needed help evacuating to safer parts of the city and that they'd be glad to help if that was the reason they were still about.

When it became apparent that was NOT the reason, they nodded and simply cautioned them to be careful, and to call on them for anything. They were here to help.

In particular this trio of guards was in rather expensive and well made armor, consisting of banded splint mail embossed with a Crown, a Cutlass, and a Coin set against a sunbrand much like at a temple of Pelor, but it was obviously not a holy symbol, just the symbol of the country, and it was inset in gold, or something very like gold. Likely King's Guard.

Once there, they found that the tower was open entirely to the public to use at will and the tower itself consisted of a spiral staircase that opened out onto balconies every few floors or so, made seemlessly of that stone, almost as if it had either been a single piece carved, or more likely, bonded with sorcery to stand as it did. Not worried about heights, but 6000 stairs may change your mind. Still, it's breathtaking. Diana said, starting the climb of DOOOOM

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"Oh wow, it's pretty huge. Bigger than I was imagining," Giselle commented as she saw the tower in the distance.

Following Diana through town, Giselle let her do the talking to the guards, simply nodding when Diana told them that they required no real help or anything, yet anyway. When they finally made their way to the tower, with Giselle noting the rather expensive looking armor that the guards who stopped them had, Giselle looked up and sighed softly. "Wow... so six thousand steps eh. Mmm, I've walked from Feynrial to Tear Cove before, and it's far more than six thousand steps, and the path takes you along the western slopes of the great mountain, so... yeah, six thousand is a breeze compared to this," Giselle said, chuckling, though looking a bit intimidated at the sheer size of the thing and just how many steps there were, as she followed Diana inside. "Say, who were those guards anyway? And... where are they evacuating people to?" Giselle asked curiously as they started up the stairs.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Hmm? Those were King's personal guard. He's young, but his advisor and steward is smart so things are pretty well managed. The steward might be a snake but give it time. She answered, starting the hike. And they were going to the top.

A half hour and way too many stairs later, Giselle was free to look out over a Massive portion of the city, which meant the entire city itself was even bigger then she'd assumed. It really was the entire country. border to border. No wilderness, no wildlife save for what looked like farmland off to the north, buildings, buildings as far as her eye could see until the horizon. With the various colors of stone used, wood, and half dozen other materials used in their construction, the entire city from up here looked like a giant circling puzzle made of sparkling glass, hundreds of different colors in thousands of different shapes. but it was so quiet, like it had died without the people that lived here. She could imagine just how many would fill these streets normally. Scratch that, there they were.

Diana had ignored her initial question until now, steering her gaze to a flood of milling shapes many miles off towards the west. That's where. Districts 5 and 6 along the western coastline and city. Plenty of room, it's a trade district set. Gotta be a couple hundred thousand people there. she muttered, sighing and leaning against a pillar.

The overlook they were standing on itself was perfectly flat and held a massive compass rose. Several pillars and a guard rail in place.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"Mmm, he sounds... hmm... I wonder if he's the boy I saw in my dream," Giselle said, looking thoughtful for a few moments before they entered the clock tower.

As they climbed the tower, Giselle looked out over the entire city through the windows as much as she could, getting a very good view of the whole place. It was by far the largest city she'd ever been to, including Hespera. Though this city was more spread out than Hespera city was it seemed, as if the entire country itself was just one huge ass city, with just enough farmlands to support the population.

"Jeez... how many people live here? This place is easily big enough for almost a million people," Giselle then asked after Diana told her where they've being evacuated to, as the siren looked out from the top.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

8. ish. million, last we bothered to count. And that's not counting the sprites, who are bless their little hearts, going with them. Sweet things, Sun Sprites. Little golden fairies. They eat like elephants though. Diana said, chuckling as she leaned back.

Your darling lady love would have a house in that direction. Don't think anyone's been to it since she joined us though. she said, pointing off to the northeast. All lost district now, district 14. Undead everywhere, very unsafe place to be. Everyone likes to pretend otherwise but this cities roots never full healed. The dead still rise, districts are taken back and lost again. There's no end to them it seems. she continued, spitting off the side.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"That's... a lot. More than I imagined," Giselle commented on the population numbers.

"Hmm, so her house, where this all began for her, is out there then? In the lost districts. And... maybe I can help heal those roots, somehow. But Kylie first," Giselle asked, looking out in the direction Diana had pointed Kylie's old house to be in.

"I... I want to go there soon. To her old house. We might find a clue there, hopefully," Giselle said, glancing over at Diana.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Who knows, this is all insane. May as well go snooping around. Let me send a message to Vos so we can get some backup, digging around in the lost districts means we'll need some actual muscle. she said, taking her mask and whispering to it.

When she was done, it turned into a small bird, a starling from the looks of things, and took wing, zipping off to find Vos Giselle could only assume. Shall we? she asked, pulling on her gauntlets, which had been tucked away at the small of her back. They looked so plain compared to the tools Kylie now wore to Giselle's eyes.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"M'kay, I'll wait until you're ready. Probably best to start there I guess, since it's in a more dangerous section of the city and whatnot," Giselle said, shrugging a bit as she waited for Diana to send her message.

Giselle watched the woman speaking into her mask, where it turned into a little bird that flew off. The sight of it amazed her a bit, but she didn't really show it too much, other than her eyes widening slightly. "Of course, lead on," Giselle told Diana before following her back down now that she'd gotten a decent look at the city in general, with Giselle eyeing Diana's gauntlets curiously, which reminded her of simpler versions of Kylie's really.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

The gauntlets Diana was wearing were nearly identical in every fashion to the ones Kylie had worn before she'd had her new ones made. Slim, Mithril, and with the same hidden mechanism to carry a slender blade under the wrist. Compared to Kylie's now, which were larger, thicker, with clawed fingers and collapsible weapons placed inside the full armguards, along with the hooks along the thumb for cutting the wire dart Giselle knew she had in hers as well.

Giselle had never really been privy to everything in Kylie's new gauntlet's but she'd seen that at the very least, and she knew Kylie had carried a sword inside them as well, though how the engineer in tear cove had collapsed a blade that small she was unsure.

These, on Diana's hands, were the gauntlets she'd seen almost everyone in the Rose wearing as they drank, standard issued to graduated assassins. Not Kylie's fists of 1000 tricks. Moreover Diana didn't seem to be carrying any large weapons, no bow, no sword. Maybe a dagger or two at the small of her back but Giselle couldn't see them. If she was carrying weapons they were small.

Heading back down, Diana just started walking, leading Giselle through the abandoned streets.
