Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Cherry's dance continued for at least half an hour or so, with her frolicking around as she did, completely naked for all to see, without any shame or cares. Sheena and Freya both watched, the kitsune being a bit more in touch with nature, and seeming to find Cherry's dance very lovely. As Kylie slept, the storm carried on, slowly building a little bit stronger as time wore on.

It would die down a bit after a while though, and when Kylie finally woke back up, it was to the smell of bacon being cooked. Looking down from the tree limb she was in, Kylie saw that Sheena and Freya were frying some on a little campfire next to the tree.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Fried Piggeh! Kylie mumbled, sniffing the air with her eyes still closed, before hugging the tree in an appropriate hippy way, and swinging to the ground, landing and stretching with her stuff. Mooorning! she said happily, retrieving an orange.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Looking around, Kylie saw it was still dark, but in the far distance, she knew the sun was gonna be rising soon. Sniffing the air, Kylie smelled not only the bacon being fried, but also a few other things, with the bacon simply being the most prominent. "Oh hey Kylie. Want some bacon? I'm making plenty. Even Cherry said she'd eat some, and most nymphs are straight up vegetarians," Sheena said when Kylie came down, gesturing to a little platter that already had plenty of cooked bacon on it, enough to feed all four of them there twice over quite easily, with enough left over to have bacon to munch on for half a day as they traveled.

Freya meanwhile was helping Cherry collect some edible nuts and fruits from the area, and was happily carrying a basket of apples from a nearby apple tree, while Cherry had a little bowl full of pecans.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

yay Bacon Kylie mumbled through a mouthful of orange, grabbing some to nibble while she yawned again and gave her biggest stretch. Still don't eat too heavy, we do have to keep going you know. This isn't a vacation to Cherry's. Though maybe we could plan that later at some time. she continued, nibbling and laying back on a log, scratching her back and relaxing at the same time, like a baws.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"I brought a lot of bacon too, from the house. Because... seriously... who fucking doesn't like bacon. Right?" Freya said with a smirk.

"I know Kylie. But, it's good we were able to rest here for the night, because not even the dragons really fuck with the fey on the island, because if they do... well, let's just say they wouldn't want to incur the wrath of basically everything around here in terms of nature. So it let us get a good night's sleep, and I talked to Cherry while you slept too. The minotaurs haven't been coming this way nearly as much recently, but have been hitting the goliath's and the eastern half of the island more than before. And she also said that there's only a paltry amount of scouts between here and their main turf. As for their slaves... well, don't know exactly how many they got, but any they do have, we'll free them," Sheena said, when Kylie came down.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Exactly, everyone loves bacon. But I like steak too... She said, nibbling while she listened to Sheena, grinning in a prideful little way. Good job, we'll have to collect more information as we go. With any luck the story about me will have spread, magic lines and all, it'll be hard to mistake me for anyone but the crazy bitch who fucked them up the first time. Ask Freya, she watched, I left an impression. Kylie said, giggling madly to herself and pulsing with all her colors for a few moments. Up above the clouds spun around in response to the odd bubbling of different energies.

One kinda looked like a rubber ducky.

Kina and Kuna were on her head looking, they said so.

But after that she continued to eat, looking around. We have the advantage, the Minotaurs can't scout the treetops like we can. So, further travel ahead is in the canopy, don't come down to the ground like I trained you and we should be able to get out of their field of vision as we travel. If we can catch one out, we should and well scare some information out of him. I'm not above torture either but I'm not gonna be teaching you two how, so. For now we'll just see if we can catch one out with his pants down. she continued, planning while she ate.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"Mhm... and honestly speaking, I doubt too many would truly try and stand against the hellion that kicked the shit out of them the last time," Sheena said with a smirk.

"Alright hon, we can keep to the trees, but we're still not as fast as you are, so... might need to slow it down just a little bit," Freya then told Kylie, sticking her tongue out at her.

"If you are looking for any of their scouts. One of their favorite places to hide, miss Kylie, is up the mountain a little ways, in a cave. It doesn't lead too deeply into the mountain's interior, but enough to keep them from being seen easily. It's likely they'll have at least a pair of scouts there, most likely. It's on the westerly face, about a day's travel from here. It's in between a pair of large pointy rocks jutting up from the ground, pointing outward from the mountainside," Cherry said after a few moments, looking confident about her report.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Good enough for me, and Thanks Cherry, we'll watch it when we find it, and grab one of them as they head out. Let's head out girls. She said, finishing her breakfast and shot up into a tree, waiting for the others to scramble up with her. Once they were all up and moving, she'd set the pace to about 2/3's of her own, and scale it back if she had to. If they followed her exact pathing they should've been able to keep track of her easily enough.

She was running along wider branches and taking an easy loping path without too many leaps in the dense jungle canopy, using her gauntlets to cut any vines that would trip up the others as she passed, working as both guide, leader, and pathfinder for the other two to make the trek in the treetops easier.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"Be careful, okay, I'd hate for my friends to get hurt," Cherry said, apparently not disturbed by the fact that they were going to basically hunt and kill minotaurs.

Sheena and Freya both finished up their food, and let it settle a bit so they didn't throw it right back up or anything, and then they scampered up the trees too, though not before Cherry stopped them and handed over 3 fruits. "Here, these are my last three fruits I got from my tree, for the season. Take them with you. One bite will reinvigorate you with energy again, while an entire fruit will fill your belly for an entire day," Cherry explained, smiling as she handed them over, before kissing Sheena on both cheeks, and seeing them off.

After they did get up to the trees, Sheena waved goodbye to Cherry, and she and Freya followed Kylie along along the tree tops. It was easy going at first, though after a while they started going uphill, making it a little tougher to do so. Sheena and Freya were mostly able to keep up with Kylie, until they started going uphill along the treetops, at which point they started lagging behind a bit. After they'd been going until nearly noon, Sheena and Freya stopped, needing a break to rest a bit.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Remind me to give you more running drills with Miu when we get back... with backpacks full of rocks. Kylie teased as the other two called for a break at mid day. Kylie herself still felt ready to go. Granted she'd never actually tested the true limits of her endurance... And it likely didn't HAVE a limit if there was something around she could drain and feed on as she went. The other two.... not so much. Sheena was merely human. Tough for sure, but human and Freya being a kitsune was likely longer lunged, but she wasn't going to hold a candle to Kylie, who had confirmed in the underground river, that she didn't need to breathe.... her muscles didn't burn or require oxygen in the traditional sense. It was more a question of having an energy supply of some kind, and her body would adjust. Having Hecate as a personal Generator had some obscene advantages.

Lounging in a tree, and having the others do the same, they waited, and listened. They hadn't traveled the full day needed to reach the cave, but they were in the foothills now and there were bigger things wandering around at the base of the mountain then just a few rapey flowers.

Once we get the first group of slaves out... one of you will have to see them back, and follow trails back to us to meet up... who wants to volunteer for the first run? she asked the pair curiously, swinging her sickle in the air, in a tight circle next to her, making it hum quietly.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"Fuck that Kylie, we just got through basically running across the treetops for four to five hours. Not all of us were blessed with the stamina of a demi-goddess like you," Sheena replied, sticking her tongue out at Kylie, as she and Freya panted a bit.

"I will, Kylie. Honestly, I'm not looking forward to meeting these minotaurs again. I'll take them to one of the nearby Goliath outer camps, and come back to meet up with you, around where you came to last time, when you rescued me," Freya said, when Kylie asked who wanted to take the first batch of slaves they planned to rescue back.

Sheena meanwhile was lounging back on the large tree limb that she was sitting on, her back resting against the tree trunk.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Good Idea Freya, you follow sign and know the area better then Sheena does. Of the two of you, she's the stronger fighter, you're better at staying out of trouble. Kylie said seriously, grinning softly at the end of things.

You two should train with eachother more often as a set team for recon. I know everyone has been shifting around so you can work with anyone in the Rangers, but I'd like you two to pair more often, learn from eachother. Kylie continued, going back to hanging from the tree like a glowing fruitbat, orange in place in her hand as she nibbled.

Of all of you, Asha is still the strongest fighter, less headstrong then she used to be. But you're all catching her up quickly enough and she can't handle a bow nearly as well as Lysa and none of you can match Mara in throwing knives and darts. I'll have to think of something. I'd teach you girls how to use this. She said, swinging the sickle some more for the music. But it's a specialized weapon, you'd need to train with Yuki almost exclusively to learn the steps of recoiling the chain properly or it'd just trip you up and get you into trouble. she continued, letting the chain slack and drop before lashing it up like a bullwhip, the chain snapping harshly while the sickle suddenly whistling, where a whip would have cracked, and a thick branch fell to the ground. Rather then letting the chain complete it's full swing, Kylie backsnapped her arm, and brought the blade straight in towards herself, catching it in her other hand, and letting the chain spin around her arm and shoulder.

There's a step pattern to using it on the ground for fast fighting. Otherwise the recoil time between strikes is too long. You'd have to train in my circles underground after Yuki was done with you. We're talking years. she said quietly focusing on the weapon itself.

Sadly I think only a Hespera master smith could make another one Like this one, and no one could ever replicate it. There's a reason it was in the Shadow Archives. she said, running her finger along a set of fine runes etched into the almost black metal. It wasn't a complex enchantment, it wasn't flashy, or even dangerous on it's own. It simply significantly lightened the weapon for the wielder, to anyone else it acted at it's full weight. She could swing it like a willow switch, and it would hit like a 20 pound chain attached to a 5 pound blade. Speed mixed with power. That was the complication in the enchantment. And why it got it's name in the first place. It sang a song because of the speed it could move and it's tune changed based on how it was wielded.

But, I've got some ideas.... I'll let you know when we get back.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"Aye, plus I don't know if I could overpower a minotaur alone. I'd have to use tactics and trick them. And alright Kylie, once we get back, we'll get to work training as a two person recon team. Aside from Mara and Akiko, we're probably the fastest," Freya replied with a nod.

"And hey, don't worry about that. I've got my eyes on a newer weapon I'd like to try out. We'll see if I'll manage with it soon, but I've heard it's good for duels, so, maybe I'll be an awesome duelist for the rangers or something," Sheena then said, winking at Kylie, as she watched Kylie spinning her chain weapon.

"So, how many slaves do you think they've got?" Freya asked curiously, to both girls really.

"I dunno honestly. Probably a dozen or two in each of their villages, since they've been clustering a little more, since Kylie's foray into their village a couple of years back, if I had to guess." Sheena replied with a shrug.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

More if I had to guess. There's another problem with them bunching up tighter and ranging less. The slaves they do take are almost hopelessly trapped. Because it's too far in most cases to make a run without dying. Be prepared for bigger crowds. Kylie said darkly, running her fingers along the runes one more time. She wasn't ready to feed it her blood yet. There wasn't any enemy that warranted that. To activate that part of the enchantment would be risky even for her. She didn't even want to imagine the strain... There was another reason the weapon had been restricted... It used the lifeblood of the wielder to activate the last part of the enchantment, and not even Kylie had an unlimited supply of blood... She'd likely barren an entire area trying to carry that through in a long fight...

Still, better in her hands then someone elses... She shook her head to keep her thoughts away from Garellia.

In another hour or so we'll start back up again. I'm gonna scout a bit and see what's around. Kylie said, spinning back up and stretching, before taking off in ever widening circles, looking around for something interesting.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

"Aye... so our only options really, are to either kill them, or beat them down so hard they can't recover from it, I'd say," Sheena said, furrowing her brow at the thought of either, and not liking the sounds of either. "In either case, it'll probably take more than just us, I think, even with all of your strength and power, Kylie. Because you can't be everywhere at once. You want to detour to the goliaths and see if they can lend some support, or the southern minotaurs? The southern minotaurs seem to like the northern ones even less than you do, if that's even possible," she went on to say, pondering over that thought.

"It might help, but the question is, would we have time. The longer we wait, the more likely one or more of their slaves either dies, or is too exhausted to move without help. I mean we've done a lot to keep them from taking people in the last couple of years, but we only have so many of us, and too many of them," Freya said after Sheena finished, while Kylie prepared to scout ahead.

Moving on ahead after responding to the others, Kylie made great time, and easily managed to move onward. It wouldn't take her too long to speedily make her way closer to the place Cherry had mentioned. In the distance, Kylie could see it up the mountainside, at least she thought she could anyway. But it was tough to make out anything but the faint outline of the rocks jutting out of the mountain from this far down.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Kylie spotted the supposed area, at least the landmarks for it. And stayed for a moment, using her hour so to speak to edge around the surrounding area to get a feel for it. How much wildlife was around, how cleared where the paths, any traps on the obvious trails. And any flashes or glints along the top of the stones, looking out for scouts and snipers of their own, all too wary of long range attacks after her last one.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

The path leading up to the mountainside cavern was overgrown mostly with trees, that were steadily changing towards temperate forest trees more so than anything now. She noticed that by the time they would reach it, the entirety of the forest would indeed be temperate. The wildlife around that area was mostly what one would find in a temperate and rainy forest. She did spot a few traps here and there though, snares mostly, but there were other kinds too, such as pitfalls, etc...

She could tell that it would take at least until nightfall to make it up to the cave itself, most likely, but if they moved carefully among the treetops, then they likely would avoid detection, unless someone knew to look up for them, which she knew that they shouldn't.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

Hrm... She muttered to herself, looking around, spotting traps in several flavors, Some basic, others not so much. They were limited to the treetops. But she was well familiar with a double bluff as well... It could be the minotaurs knew full well how they traveled. Her rangers Rarely used ground patrols when the jungle and forests were so thick.

They weren't stupid... Spreading out, rather then risk hitting traps she hadn't found yet, Kylie backtracked and marked 2 clear paths through the trees, using the sickle to gash the trunks plainly for her girls to see, before backing up and letting them know, and then slowly walking them along the paths. They'd wait for nightfall to settle in fully.

We're gonna have to scout it slowly. Move along the trails, and then we'll slowly work a safe path upwards to the edge of the treeline... After that I'm scouting alone. It's too dangerous and you 2 haven't been trained for this kind of terrain. I haven't either but I'm much more at home in it then you'd think. But for now I need to have another look. Practice this trail, I need a better look. Kylie said, starting to unpack the rifle and it's scope, slowly assembling it carefully.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

As Kylie explored the treetops further, she didn't find anything overly obvious in the form of traps, the only things that could be considered as such, being the ropes from the snare traps that hung to the ground. After she had cleared some foliage to make the others a path, of sorts, and returned, she found Sheena and Freya both ready to go, with their gear all ready.

"Alright hon, but while we aren't very trained for this kind of travel, we can handle it well enough. We have to, for the sake of those slaves. Just lead on, and we'll follow, when you're ready, okay," Sheena replied when Kylie returned and spoke, settling back down along with Freya, and waiting for Kylie to finish assembling her gun, and prepare to leave.

Re: Kylie (Courage Wolf)

It's not that. Travel is easy, sneaking is hard on stone and there are clear vantage points all around you. Finding the right path takes a lot of practice. I had the benefit of learning in a city... Same hazards. Kylie muttered as she scope screwed into place and she fed a crystal round into the chamber, before closing the bolt around the powder charge. The trigger slid forward into position in it's well with a soft snap. The sound gave her shivers and she touched her chest where the small star scar sat.

cocksucker. she muttered to herself, before they started off, moving to the end of the path before Kylie looked down the scope and up at the stone formation, watching a long time for movement up above.
