There's no reason to use anything other than melee until you get the spreader shot. At that point, ranged weapons become slightly more useful.

If you use melee, the life spheres will escape, due to you being locked into the melee attack and unable to move while they fly away at lightspeed.

Why should they fly away in the first place? I can't think of a game mechanic that would invite that, other than punishing the player for existing. If you're not going to let the player have them, then just don't spawn them in the first place.

You can jump at any point during a melee attack, you're never locked into an animation. The floating health is a means of giving the player a guaranteed, non-random method of health, without making it too easy to acquire.

As for ranged, the normal gun has more damage output than the spread. Ranged in general is useful against enemies that don't flinch, and enemies that are dangerous at close range, such as the claw enemy. What you're sacrificing in damage output, you're making up for in range.

I honestly thought that the wave gun was better since it could go through enemy units. That and you can jump while you're in the middle of melee so I don't see how you would miss the life spheres in melee range. They literally blow up in your face where it, theoretically, should be the easiest to obtain.

Spreadshot does more damage than the other bullet types, so long as you hit with every spread. It takes 5 (not three) spread shots to destroy a regular mook, as opposed to 7 with the normal shot. Granted, the normal shot has longer range, but you will only get off a couple of shots before the enemy is within range ANYWAY. So, you're better off just dancing around like a loon hitting them in the face with spread shots.

As for jumping out of melee, for some reason I was locked into melee until demo version 4. I can't say why. Now I can jump while using melee.

Health disappearing by floating away is just one of those "fuck you" elements to games that I find disturbing. I'd appreciate it more if you just lowered the chance of a health spawn, instead of making them float away.

Or is it strange? There seems to be a point far enough away from the spread shot firing that it does multiplicative damage in comparison to a point-blank hit. I can kill turrets with one shot at a certain range, while they take three shots up close?

Depending on how the shots hit the enemies, I can kill an enemy in 2-5 shots. How unique.

I don't know about you, but I'm having absolutely no trouble at all getting floating health. If you're facing right as you kill enemies, health floats to the left and upward. Recovery is only a jump away. And even if you're facing left its really as simple as running and jumping to your salvation.

Also, lowering the chances of health spawning would actually cripple the game in my opinion. The hits you take really hurt you, and theres a lot of things that can ko you easily and implant you with their seed.

I noticed that for every one hit you sustain, it takes killing two enemies to compensate for that hit. Lowering health drops would honestly kill you faster and slow down the pace of the game considerably. (Although that might be a good idea for a hard mode of some kind, knock on wood ;) )

If you kill your enemy at range, you're probably not going to get the health before it disappears, especially if there's more than one enemy (unless you're using the holy spreader). If you kill an enemy on a platform higher than you using jumping melee, you're probably not going to get the health unless you finish the combo with an uppercut to land on the platform. If you kill a flying squid, you're probably not going to get the health regardless.

Now, I don't end up needing the health if I'm just playing like usual. I can pretty much dodge everything so far without issue. None of the enemies so far are very difficult. Once you get the spreader, you can hold down the fire button and kill everything that comes into range without them even having a chance to fight back.

For other people, they might not like the risk/reward of being forced into melee range to pop the enemy so they can capture at point blank. I don't know. This is just my take on it.

I don't think there was hate (Or anymore than any other game) for it, just that people preferred the first game. It's probably mostly on the male protagonist. I think I heard some people say the platforming at a part was annoying in the thread for Eroico or something (Coulda just been a platforming scrub), but I only played the demo so I can't say. I myself preferred Kurovadis in part because of the female lead, more variation on sex in a run or rape game that I'm interested in if the MC is female.

I do love monster girls but Eroico just didn't seem exciting enough to me for some reason. I'd probably have to go back and play them both to give some actual reasoning for it (Beyond not liking males to be submissive, but that was a big part of it.).

I still haven't played the demo for this, was waiting for the updated one with fixes first.

that the sex was divorced from the gameplay (no damage so no reason for struggle) and that the platforming difficulty was not well balanced were legitimate critiques

the ones that did do damage made up for the ones that didnt, so much that i didnt notice that not all did damage

I liked Eroico. I had difficulty with some of the platforming. The ruby gem blocks were tough for me too. Protagonist also took a shit ton of damage. Not a lot of vitality. The rapes were also a bit of a let down, I enjoyed them, but most of them were girls mounting him. Not very versatile, which is one reason I enjoy female protags, but have nothing against males. That genderbender animation could have been so different. For some odd reason that's really hot to me.

I just wish Eroico was longer and had more enemies.

It may have been the better game, but I'm here for porn dammit! lol A male PC in a RoR is not my thing. The ONLY game that I think is hot with reverse rape like that is that Shota game with the soccerball. Well, so far at least.

Most the reason why I don't dig the male PC. You have such a limited variety of enemies you could do without making a lot of them vore or many would be a standard mount and rape scene like Eroico was. You could do like a Lamia or something...but there is a limit to what you could do. Whereas, you could throw any sort of animal, insect, tentacle or machine against a female PC. Dunno...I'm not all about some dog raping a dude. lol

I'd totally dig a hgame with a dog raping a male PC, providing they're on the femmy side.

I'm probably in the minority that's down for that kind of thing though. I'm not really a fan of the odd hgame with a male pc that goes around raping monster girls, so Eroico was right up my alley, just wish there was a few animations where he got it up the butt, but I know that's not a lot of peoples cup of tea. (And assume Kyireu is not really into that)
