Re: Malise and the Machine - Public Demo Available Now!
I have to say I'm sort of taken aback at how they seem to treat the fact that it's a heavily ryona based game as a flaw. What do you guys think?
I'd say that EVERY game is going to have parts I dislike.
Heck, even if I get around to making my own game, I'm sure I'd dislike aspects.
Here's the thing: With entertainment in general, but porn in particular,
nobody quite knows WHY some brains get turned on by this and others by that.
Be it character traits, body types/features, settings/themes...
All we know is that the weirdest of things can be turn-ons, and historically,
people who cry "unnatural" and "obscene" tend to age out over time, replaced by more liberally-minded folk.
All I can do as a consumer is see if the things I like about a thing outweigh the things I dislike, enough to spend time/money on it.
All you can do as a producer is make the things YOU want to make,
provided that won't make the tax authorities call the police to arrest you on some local indecency law.
You can try to "fake it" and make what you think others want,
but you're always going to be better at making what you want than you'll be at making what others want.
Genuine enthusiasm is one heck of a quality mark.
I can see how a "ryona" keyword could be a turnoff to some,
but personally I don't see how it applies here - sure, there's light vore elements, but - have they ever SEEN japanese ryona?
I mean, nobody even gets an arm chewed off and sprays blood all over the place.
Instead, I'd say the nonvanilla elements allow for more variety, which is going to be important once this gets a bunch more enemies.
If this game was going to purely have "swallow or be swallowed" enemies I'd probably be concerned,
but as it stands - I'm up for some autonomous restraining/throatfucking worms in my games, every now and then.
TL;DR: "ryona" is too strong a word. Besides, variety is the spice of life. Fuck the haters.
Well, not literally. Unless they're hot, and consenting, I guess.
