I didn't want to waste my glorious 100th post for something like that, but:you're going to spend your afterlife in germany... dear god what did you do in life?
Nowadays, we learn English even in kindergarden and most folks until maybe age forty-ish have at least some basic knowledge of the language. Combine that with a little "Hallo", "Tschüss" and "Prost!" and I'm sure you'll get by.Suppose i did. I'll be spending all of my short summer break in a place where there's minimal english spoken and I haven't had time to learn German. Fuck you Anatomy!
I think I can understand their attitude to a certain degree, or at least the attitude of those who come into contact with tourists involuntarily on a frequent basis. Trying to get from A to B can be annoying because there are hundreds of people crowding the place in order to take a picture in front of a heap of iron to post on Facebook. Prices skyrocket just because the town has been mentioned in literature or seen on tv. Folks regard you as part of a cliché, and so on.Had a cousin who went to Paris once. He told me it's like New York, the residents hate tourists. Told me France is great but Paris gives it a bad reputation, that the stereotype of the french asshole mostly comes from Paris.
