Re: Multiple Cases of Traced Art Found in Pussy Saga

For the record, this thread's original purpose was simply to spread the news,
And my point was that it isn't news. At all. Much to the same effect that Breeding Season being a scam wasn't news, but at least there was something to actually discuss.

and maybe convince those who surprisingly can waste money on this game to stop paying.
If you're putting down money on something like this, you're probably well beyond such reasoning. More importantly it's no business of the customer, this is between the author and the plagiarizer and not unrelated third parties. Metaphorically taking this fight to the streets only increases the odds that no legal action will be taken, that this mole will be whacked just long enough for another to rise, which is even assuming you can reach enough of the people that use this service and enough of them care. It's a child's solution and if you want to advocate this industry growing up, this kind of nonsense is not the way to go about it. I guess I'm sounding rather critical and dismissive here, but this isn't the first time this sort of thing happened, it's not the biggest thing, it's honestly just not even worth mentioning compared to much larger instances of this problem that no one is bothering to talk about (outside and inside the porn industry)

The people who care about this; Do the right thing, seek legal council and take steps to protect your work, because stirring shit on an internet forum means nothing to these companies, while actual fines and legal fees just might. Otherwise, this is little more than powerless exasperation. Nothing will happen, nothing will change.

The only really big deal that can be resulted from this is the fact this game is one of the most played (yeah, i can't actually believe it) western-made game on Nutaku, which people fear could harm Western Adult Game Industries growth in general at both short and long term.

That's all.
That's also why I'm saying not to take this fight to the streets. All this does is undermine customer faith and justify people thinking along the lines of "they all steal from each other anyway, so I'm justified just pirating everything too" and that's assuming they even care in the first place, most likely they'll just dismiss you as some whiny cunt crying about matters they don't care about, and good luck getting them to ever listen to you ever again, even when something relevant to them DOES come up, that stigma is not something you easily shake.

Old news are still news, especially to people who didn't have the knowledge of said info beforehand, even when most of society knew already.
And it's kinda conceited of you to label something not newsworthy, don't you think? For example, i'm sure my grandpa will definitely be shocked to hear there used to exist such scam like BS. To him, that's definitely news. Breeding Season being a scam isn't something new, but it's still news. Likewise with this thread's.

Oh, i totally agree with your points here, but remember when a thread for Cloud Meadow is created here? People will pitch in their opinion on the matter regardless. It's just an utilization of freedom of speech, we are taking the chances to speak out.

Calm down buddy, people opinion here maybe seems a little too aggressive and pessimistic, but that doesn't mean the situation are really that dire. Like i said above, here in this thread, we are simply presenting what we thoughts, not planning to anger the streets or commodity or anything and stir some big riot. :p

what i want to know is. how is this game not taken down while being investigated? there is no way nutaku can say "this is not traced, we'll be keeping it up".

on another note, but same subject. i see so much bad talk about the game here, but ever since release. it's been #1 on their ranked games.

That makes me curious, how do Nutaku rank their games anyway? I hope the amount of customer's money consumed isn't a factor at all.

Re: Multiple Cases of Traced Art Found in Pussy Saga

Out of genuine curiosity, at what point do people consider this to be a problem? What I mean is that many people build games off of pre-existing characters. In doing that, they basically plagiarize the entire character design and outfit. Is it fine because they drawn it themselves? What about when they trace that character from show stills?

On a different note, I browse lots of pictures for ideas, postures, outfits, etc. I never outright trace an entire picture, but I definitely use parts of a picture I like (an outfit, a posture, etc.). I then draw it from scratch and modify it to fit my character and game. I guess I never considered it a problem.

I know this is not exactly the case here, where the entire scene/character is blatantly traced, but I'm legitimately curious.

It's mostly curiosity at where people draw the lines that I'm here as well. Heck, plagiarism is a cornerstone of the industry and has been since forever. Meet'n'fuck is mostly traced/stolen artwork and characters, popular and loved content creators like Zone not only plagiarize characters, but take clips and sounds from existing content, and even Zone's work has plenty of rip-offs and copies floating around with slightly modified looks.

If you have any interest in protecting your work as an artist or even as an industry I'd recommend studying the whole rollercoaster that has been and still is going on with Youtube content creation, the legal protection of your work and also your rights in terms of fair use of other peoples' work. Your best bet would seem to be setting up some kind of Union or label to unite under so you're actually capable of putting up a legal front to challenge other companies and individuals that infringe on your intellectual properties.

Beside that, topics like these just tend to desensitize people.

This isn't abnormal in any way, many people that are drawing do have a nice collection of pictures.
Damn, there is even a Japanese book called "Pose Book" and "Super Pose Book" made especially for that sole purpose. Big collection of poses from different angles, perspectives, etc.

Some people spent hours drawing over a picture to see how bone structure should look like and mostly, why it looks like that.
Sometimes even tracing is good to learn, because you can see lines flow, their direction and stuff.

But, as it's great for learning, not so much for making it an asset in a game that does have any form of payment (be it micro transaction or other type of bs money grabber).

Honestly, it depends on author himself. There was that international law for that (I don't remember the name), basically saying that your work is yours and no one has rights to it other than author himself.

Some people won't let you touch their assets no matter the planned use for those. I for example wouldn't mind if someone took anything I drew and used it somewhere. On one condition, if it's for non-commercial use.
As long as that is the case, you can do whatever you want with it.

I am almost sure that if there wasn't any money involved in Pussy Saga, this whole topic would look differently. Bah, even if their only income from this would be ads, it still wouldn't be as bad.

Lolno. If there wasn't any money involved in Pussy Saga, they wouldn't have made Pussy Saga.

Nutaku has a BIG audience. Even if Pussy Saga's only income was ads, Pussy Saga would have made some serious money just by having Nutaku turn a blind eye.

people recorded one of my games releasing all of the content on pornhub, considering it was science girl they basically made it so no one has to play my game, also no commentary or review, so no fair use argument here.

any of the other games they could've done it with still sort of have meaningful gameplay in which there is value in playing them yourself.

Offtop (kinda)
Oh, that sucks...
I just looked at that and yeah, not even a link to the game in description or anywhere other than in comment section.
And what, pornhub just ignored request for taking it down or you didn't bother? Asking, because I am kinda curious.

I was bringing it up because sometimes its argued that they're devaluing a product by posting all the content, which is sometimes used as a reason to take down videos.
but in the case of science girl, people's playthroughs won't be significantly different. so even if no pants did voice over the game then it would still feel like id be robbed a little...

I didn't actually try to get it taken down, i posted those links in the comments in the hope some people would see it but by then the video already had 40k+ hits...was kinda sad...i mean, i love let's plays myself, but the idea that someone else is getting lots of hits off my hard work is kinda annoying... still, looking forward to krystalise possibly playing one of my games.

A game created for the sole purpose of riding off HuniePop's popularity is a low-effort piece of shit that uses traced assets?

I'm absolutely shocked

When I first started playing this game, I felt something was off. the opening and "perverted rude fairy" character and most of the game mechanics were identical to Hunie Pop. I though I was playing a rip-off of the game. When I got the first CG I was like "she doesn't look anything like the character I was 'dating.'"

Lastly, It pop up on the site out of nowhere even before the other game that is supposed to be coming soon.

Re: Multiple Cases of Traced Art Found in Pussy Saga

Games that rip assets of other games have been pretty rampant in the flash sector of adult games for a while but they keep to their own sites generally. Like Pussy Saga was out for a while before it arrived on Nutaku and was doing this for a long time before.

Some of these games that rip assets tend to go towards the premium site models or patreon models depending on the dev. I suppose the only odd stand out thing here is that one of those titles ended up on Nutaku's store front. Especially in the week that they are talking about this $10mill fund for devs to make adult games. Nutaku is trying to bring in this widespread attention but what kind of attention do they want to bring in. Do they want to tell people traced/plagiarized games are ok and encourage more people to do that cause they can make a quick buck or do they want people to be creative with their own content. Or is just any f2p good enough.

Both Sekai & Mangagamer have titles in their downloadable section and whilst the exact games that are being plagiarized are not on their store yet titles of those two companies partners have been. If they want more devs to be interested hosting a game that does use this kind of content sets a weird bar that may dissuade certain devs and artists from wanting to get involved. Along with Japanese devs that may of been interested in having English editions of their titles as they take this kinda stuff more seriously.

Re: Multiple Cases of Traced Art Found in Pussy Saga

I just looked at cover of Pussy Saga and decided it had shitty artwork and then ignored it. Never knew it had plagiarized artwork and never tried it out either.

Its good this thread exists, it only confirmed my theory that it was a trash game.

Theory: The more worse the artwork is, the more likely the game isn't worth it.

And the part where it plagiarized the artwork doesn't surprise me at all. It is my opinion that its likely that Nutaku didn't know either. Hell I didn't know either.

Dunno why Nutaku just don't take down pussy saga immediately or something, its probably new to them on how to take a game down in case of plagiarism. That 10m article is simply unfortunate timing.

Just saying, the intent behind that is not the same.

I wouldn't touch Pussy Saga with a ten foot pole, but I'm reasonably sure they didn't even bother trying to hide behind being a parody, like for example the Zone Kill la Kill does.

I don't really consider hentai parodies to be 'parody' from a semantics viewpoint, but at the very least having that disclaimer, noting the copyright owner, stating that this isn't endorsed by them, etc is still leagues less sleazy than actually shameless ripoffs like PS, that try to make microtransaction cash off of people, no less.

Re: Multiple Cases of Traced Art Found in Pussy Saga

Oh absolutely, what I talked about was purely the technical side of infringing intellectual property, not the specifics of each case. Zone is overall a bad comparison to this instance of infringement since Pussy saga seems to just be lazy rip-offs while Zone puts a great deal of work into his projects.

I'd just want to stress that the issue here isn't so much infringing intellectual property, as this is something we know that happens all the time and we're generally accepting of, the issue here is that people are selling a product they did practically no work on. Even using this site as an example, since we share quite the amount of essentially illegally copied work, I doubt many people would find it acceptable if people started posting links to pay sites or started asking for money for their links. So in the end it's not about intellectual property so much as it is about profiteering off of other people's work.

Re: Multiple Cases of Traced Art Found in Pussy Saga

Just wanted to point out something with all this talk about stealing and plagiarism.

Although tracing may indeed be in poor taste and over all cheapens the final product in some ways. It still follows fair use as long as you actually do your own drawing on top of the traced material. Think of it as a band playing famous songs in a bar, a dj making a remix, or a comedian making a parody. As long as you can prove that you have altered the orinial piece to the point that it can't be considered the same thing anymore, it's fair use.

I can agree to call into question the moral integrity of someone who releases a cheap product, but as long as there is effort put into it, to the point i can tell they actually tried to make something of their own, i'm not gonna bash on them either.

Cheap knock offs have a market because people are buying. I understand the stress that a content creator can go through when seeing "cheap half assed garbage" making money off the same customers that are supposed to buy their "time consuming high quality" products. But sometimes people get obsessed over what they see and don't realize how a lot of things work in the background.

A generic content user has the necessity of filling up their free time with whatever media they find interesting. High quality content takes time, and a lot of effort, to be released. We all found ourselves playing the latest GTA, or whatever AAA title, for weeks without sleep or food, and then you finish the game and you don't have anything to do for the five years it takes to make the next one. A good hentai rpg can take from 6 months to a few years for a creator to make and 8 hours for a user to consume. Without even doing simple math you can see the ridiculous amount of "good" content creators it would take to fill in the free time a content user.

People will buy cheap content when they have already consumed all the good stuff they could find, there's nothing bad about it, some people just have a lot of money and free time on hand. But that doesn't mean people won't buy your quality goods because the market is saturated with trash. There are a multiplujillion GTA knock offs on mobile gaming, but GTA is still the best selling game in history, because people will buy a lot of crap on the way, but always have some cash saved up for the quality goods they really want.

My suggestion to all content creators out there, take pride in doing your best and don't obsess over what other people do too much. If you do a good job people will throw their money at you, but if that's not enough, if you want more, if you expect people to only give their money to you cause you are better and you're the only one worthy. Well, than you are the problem here, and you gotta fix that shit, or it's gonna tear you apart.

Good luck
