Re: The Village of the Wayward Lambs (Pale, Oamp)

Map:
Status:
Alazais - HP: 24/28, WP 17/17
Turn Order
20 Auricael
15 Alazais

-----

Signalling an end for negotiations, Alazais whirled and fired the pair of blasts from her wand, the bolts of light flying through the air and striking the servant of darkness, who let out a howl of pain. Unsurprisingly, the burns left by the attack were more severe than would be on a normal creature, this being was particularly vulnerable to light based attacks.

Still, the recoil in pain did not last long and extending an arm out either side, the Dancer rushed forwards, closing the distance although stopping earlier than one might expect. Bringing her arms forwards, the ribbons lashed forwards, extending themselves beyond their previous length to make the distance in a twin strike that left the oracle with little room to dodge. Ducking out of the way of one of them, she still caught the other which proved to be razor sharp (4 damage).

((Ah, initiative. In this kind of fight, all it does is determine whether or not you get a double turn, which you do not.))

Re: The Ill-Portented Expedition (crossgrave, blueslime, chibi)

Azalia facepalmed at the professor's declaration. Didn't anyone teach that moron anything about patience? She hoped the vampyre would cause the bastard to reconsider his approach. Then again, it seemed that a confrontation was impossible to avoid at this point. Though perhaps if someone else tried to negotiate... "Wait a moment! Maybe we can compromise?" She glanced at the numerous shadows around them. Yep, they definitely wouldn't back down without a fight.

Turn Order
32 Kriia

20 Flowers
17 Drago

-------------

Hot on the heels of the fleeing harpy, Kriia glides in to try and take hold of it, however, the enemy harpy dodges unexpectedly at the last minute, twisting so that she could not get a proper grip. As Kriia right herself, it continues to fly, moving as fast as it can manage in attempt to flee.

Meanwhile, the spear wielder lunges at the newly arrived Drago, hoping to find him an easier target, but even without the speed enhancing spells the blow is clumsy enough that the male harpy can easily dodge it. This momentary distraction and overextension proves to be fatal for the spear wielder, as Flowers unleashes a deadly flurry of blows, biting into him with amazing alacrity and precision. Spear fallign from his grip, the harpy tries to retain conciousness as he begins to steadily lose altitude but doesn't manage it, plummeting to the earth below.

Meanwhile, Kriia takes off after the heavily wounded and fleeing archer, who dodges many shots from its pursuit before finally also being shot from the air. Off in the distance, three separate groups of harpies fled in three different directions, although they had come through the fight almost unscathed, the only wound being the arrow Kriia had been struck by.

Re: An Ancient Compact (Farren, Gargantuablarg, Copper)

Given their discussions on the matter, and the feeling that while speaking with the militiaman would likely be simpler, the female seemed to have caught all three of their interests. She was a likely candidate for Norris to lie about and she simply seemed to stick out more.

"Let's speak with the lady, then."

As they paced back to her home, Atair looked to be thinking. Planning, perhaps. The closer they got, the more his pace slowed, actually stopping before they got too close to her.

"Perhaps I ought to approach first?" He arched a brow at the other two. He had no wish to startle her, not knowing how engrossed in her task she was. And if tensions were as bad as they seemed, catching sight of the sirens first off might put her in a state, something he explained to his two charges as politely as he could manage.

Provided neither of them objected, he put a little distance between himself and the other two, approaching the woman with his hands clasped casually behind his back, head cocked a little to the side, eyes focused on her but with a sort of casual curiosity. All-in-all, it was a rather disarming expression.

"Good day to you, Mistress. I don't wish to interrupt over-much, but might we speak a moment?"

((Battle Map:

The light grey squares are difficult terrain, due to the rubble. Movement there costs 1 AP for 1 square rather than the usual. You can still get 1 free square of movement. The dark grey is impassible. And the square the vampire is in is elevated, melee attacks cannot strike it.

Re: The Village of the Wayward Lambs (Pale, Oamp)

Golden eyes widen as the ribbons come slashing in from both sides. She hadn't expected a direct attack, this creature's style seemed more suited to subtle invasion of her mind, or charming spells. It seemed off that..

And her thought train is broken by the rapidly approaching ribbons as the Oracle remembers to -move-. Not fast enough, though, as she skids to a stop, pale flesh bared through a cut robe... and gold dripping from it, spattering droplets across the floor.

Suppressing the urge to grimace, to squeeze her burning arm and cry out in pain, Alazais repeats her attack with another pair of cuts with her wand, using Light once again.

Now.. if I can get her badly hurt... close to death.. then I might have a chance of making my offer again. If not.. then Light forgive me for taking hers.

Re: Escape from Dracholt (Sinfulwolf)

Battle Map:
Status:
Meaghan - HP 30/36, SP 8, WP 15
Turn Order:
28 - Beasts
21 - Meaghan

------

Steeling herself for the fight to come, Meaghan takes a moment to familiarise herself with the blade in her hand. If anything, it seemed forthcoming as she got a feel for what it was capable of and it was indeed a potent blade, she had heard stories of its ilk.

Lifedrinker (Contains Vampyric Blade – level 1, Bloodlust – level 2, Crimson Rain – level 3)
AP to use: 4
Damage: 4

Blades such as this are regarded highly amongst the vampyres and sought after by their noble houses. Steel enchanted to thirst for blood, it compliments them naturally, although it can be wielded happily by bloodthirsty patrons of any race.

Vampyric Blade
Level 1 Special
AP: 4
SP: 2
Damage: 4
Spec: Heals the user by 2HP

Fuelled with energy, the blade's next blow is enchanted to drink the blood from the wound it creates and metabolise it magically. The energy it creates is then channelled into its wielder, so that they may continue to sate its thirst.

To master this ability, one must execute this attack 10 times.

Bloodlust
Level 2 Special
Passive Ability

As a display of loyalty to its wielder, the blade grants a boon to its wielder when their lifeblood flows. When the wielder of this weapon is below 50% of their hitpoints, they gain an extra +2AP per round as their adrenaline and reflexes are bolstered by the blade.

To master this ability, one must be under the influence of bloodlust for 10 combat rounds

Crimson Rain
Level 3 Special
AP: 8
SP: 6
Damage: See below.

Channelling the swords power for its ultimate attack, the wielder delivers first a pair of quick strikes dealing 3 damage each, driving their foe back and knocking them off balance. Then, bringing the sword around for the final blow, they charge the blade full of energy and deliver a devastating blow (6 damage). In addition, the wounds left by Crimson Rain flow freely, each blow that strikes the target will cause an additional 1 damage each round, for a maximum of 3 bleed damage per round, until the victim receives some form of healing.

To master this ability, one must execute this attack 5 times.

Armed with a highly sought after blade, she made her stand, crying out her defiance as the first of the enemies approached from behind where she had been. It was fast. Also big. She'd estimate it at around eight feet tall or so, although it hunched over forwards slightly as it ran, likely overbalanced by its grotesquely giant arms, bulging with muscle in an unnatural way. The being was large and a distressingly familiar dark-skin colour, with a mouth full of pointed teeth. At the ends of its outright ridiculous arms as well as its feet were sharp looking claws and despite it's ill-proportioned body it seemed to manage a sort of bounding gait that exceeded speeds at seemed sensible. And faintly glowing, all over its body, dark runes and sigils pulsating with energy as well as sending out ripples through its body from them. The only word for it was abomination and she had a sinking feeling she'd had this creature described to her earlier.

Still, the time for contemplation was later, as it was upon her, slamming into her with a fierce attack (6 damage) and letting out a vicious battle cry in response to her own.

Re: An Ancient Compact (Farren, Gargantuablarg, Copper)

Keti nodded at the Nekomata's - Atair's, he reminded himself - suggestion. There wasn't an obvious reason to suspect her, like with the one that was in the militia, or the fisher... Keti was very curious if there was anything to suspect from her at all. Could he remember anything about her...?

His eyes rested on the woman, trying hard to recall. He didn't notice their slowing pace until Atair stopped completely, shifting his gaze to him from the woman and her laundry across the way. Hearing his idea, he nodded once more, hanging back, hands holding lightly to one of Nae's arms. In addition, Keti drew his wings in, hoping to make them less prominent, and turned his head to seem as if he were looking somewhere else - though, truthfully, he glanced at them through a curtain of hair. Hopefully, making her feel like his attention was elsewhere would help their guide keep her calm.

Satuma cursed, a Fel Spirit had appeared out of the ruins immediately off to her right, she wouldn't have time to draw bead on it and light her handcannon before it was upon her, so she whipped out her wand from her belt and prepared to blast the spirit twice with two rapid fire blasts.

Firing off another pair of light bolts, the dancing figure is once again struck by both, more burns appearing on her body, sizzling from the impact. "Argh, not bad," she said with a grimace as she twirled into action, closing the distance between the pair.

As she spun around, one of the ribbons slashed horizontally, striking Alazais (4 damage), then Auricael took another step and spun the other way, slashing at her again (4 damage). The distance between them closed to a more conventional melee range, the dancer perhaps surprised the oracle by twisting on one leg and kicking with the other, although the blow was clumsy and the robed figure managed to avoid it. Still, she had definitely predicted this opponent differently than the reality she was now facing in the close quarters fight with the battle-dancer.

Re: The Village of the Wayward Lambs (Pale, Oamp)

Robed arms crossed in front of her, held up as her best defence against the hissing ribbons, drawing lines of gold on both forearms, and reducing the once all-enveloping robes to a garment with short sleeves. Shaking the torn cloth from her hands, Alazais unfolds just in time to see the kick coming for her head.. and duck.

As the demoness doesn't seem to be flagging, though, the Oracle grits her teeth, and repeats her attack for the third time, this with swift, jabbing motions of the wand. rather than the grander cuts. Better not to risk it.

Azalia quickly pulled out her wand, aiming at the spirit to the left. She saw it lurking around the corner and decided to drive it off before it got too close. However, instead of using dark magic to fight them, she decided to go with firebolts instead. She had no idea whether those things were resistant to darkness, and didn't want to test that.

The fight continued, with the oracle shooting forth another pair of light attacks as she ducked and weaved, inflicting more painful wounds upon the minion of darkness, who definitely seemed to be slowing down. It didn't spare the counter-attack any, however, as a flurry of ribbons and a follow-up kick all connect, leaving the oracle reeling slightly herself (4+4+2 for 10 damage). They were both very close to their limit, it could tip either way...

Re: The Village of the Wayward Lambs (Pale, Oamp)

In the wake of another two successful attacks, Alazais lowers her wand to her side and stands tall, glaring imperiously at the demoness despite the gold spattering the floor, and the burning pain in her arms.

"It's useless, Auricael..! Take my offer now, else force me to ki..."

And mid-grandstanding, the ribbons come again. Cuts across gold-blooded cheeks, another almost directly across her chest.. then a vicious kick to the stomach doubles the Oracle over, wand spilling from nerveless hands.

"Gah...!"

Head shaken with a spray of fine-misting gold from the cut on her cheek, and Alazais stands straight.. and without even a moment's delay, dives towards the Dancer, arms extended, intending to tackle her, hopefully to the floor, and put an end to those damned ribbons..!

Suddenly bending out of the way in a manner that didn't seem possible, the Dancer bended out of the way of the tackle. Not yet done, a second grab from the oracle was attempted, grabbing hold and pulling her to the floor, but the dancer, stronger than the robed figure, broke free of her grip. With an amused chuckle, she seemed to consider bringing down her ribbon on the girl's neck, but changed her mind, trying to pin her arms to the floor. After a bit of struggling, as Alazais squirmed to try and get free, she eventually managed it, and looked down with a broad grin, showing off those pointed teeth in close proximity.

"I'll admit for a moment there, I was worried, but just as I said, I win. The village is mine, etcetera etcetera. But I did very much enjoy our little dance," she gloated, looking very pleased and as if she'd conclusively won, although the wand that had caused her so much harm was still gripped tightly in Alazais' hand. "In fact, maybe it would only be sporting for me to make my own offer. Turn away from your precious gods, and join my side. Join the winning side, as you called it," she says with another chuckle. "It's not so bad once you get used to it. Think of all the once forbidden pleasures you could experience~" she almost purrs, pressing her body up against the girl firmly.

Cheeks flare gold in a heavy, unusual blush as the demoness, naturally, takes advantage of the proximity forced by the pin to.. molest, the poor Oracle.

Squirming, naturally, only makes it worse, but the pale-skinned woman tries it anyway, wincing at the pain left in the wake of those razor-ribbons.

"I cannot... accept such an offer. Even if I wanted to, my very -being- does not permit it. I can no more become a being of Darkness than I can take to the air and fly. But.. as for forbidden... who said;... my pleasures.. are forbidden to me?"

Breath heaving in her chest with every few words, but the Oracle musters her strength.. and pushes up against the Dancer, attempting to break the hold..and follow up with a swift punch to the jaw.

Re: The Village of the Wayward Lambs (Pale, Oamp)

Shoving the servant of darkness off her with all her remaining strength, Alazais manages to roll the grapple over, so that it was now her sitting over a surprised looking Auricael. Drawing her arm back, she delivered a hard punch to the creature's jaw, whose expression changed from shocked, to afraid, to dazed and finally, unconscious. Exhausted and heavily wounded from their brief by deadly duel, Alazias slumped over.

------

Outside, Celine awoke from her nightmarish slumber and suddenly had to quickly regain her balance as she found herself on her feet. Groups of other villagers also appeared to be in a similar state, although it was difficult for her to figure out exactly what had happened. She had only a few flashes of the dream itself, the last thing she remembered before it was grabbing a hold of the oracle as part of some ruse... and now her head hurt...

Re: The Village of the Wayward Lambs (Pale, Oamp)

Like any self-respecting servant of Good, Alazais can't resist the quip as she takes the demoness by surprise, abruptly reversing their positions and drawing back one, pale-skinned fist.

"And as always... where there is Evil, Good rises up against it. Welcome to the Light."

And then she punches the demoness out cold. A moment of posing, then the Oracle collapses slowly sideways onto her back, gripping a thoroughly bruised fist to her chest. Not to mention, suffering under the pain of a large collection of small injuries. For a long time, she studies the ceiling from behind mostly-closed eyelids, flat on her back beside the unconscious Dancer.

Eventually, the Oracle feels up to moving.. and with a grunt of effort, stirs herself into motion, rolling up to her knees on the second attempt after the first fails in humiliating fashion. Step one is to remove anything that can be considered -close- to a weapon from the Demoness.. doing her very best to ignore the soft body she was forced to search. The ribbons aren't spared this treatment, either.. even if it means stripping the dancer nude.

The next priority is bondage. Specifically, wrists and ankles, using strips from her own robes, taking the near-ruined arms completely from her garment, rather than binding the woman with those ribbons. Ironic as it would be... it wasn't a chance worth taking.

Then the mouth covering returns.. then the hood, hiding Alazais' face once more. Finally, with what shreds she has remaining to her, the Oracle begins binding the cuts on her arms. The one on her cheek, and the other across her chest, would have to wait until she was clear of this damnable village..

((Take stock and take control of the situation!))

Re: An Ancient Compact (Farren, Gargantuablarg, Copper)

Nae stayed back with Keti, knowing that either of them approaching someone was going to instantly put them on the defensive. In truth she expected everyone to be wary of Altair too now that he had agreed to help them, but at least he wasn't a siren.

She smiled a little as she felt Keti's hands on her arm, the gesture helping to reassure her as well. Keeping her gaze focused elsewhere in the village, she spread her wings just a little, curling them forwards to hopefully block some of the prying eyes from Keti. She wanted to do more to reassure him, but she was well aware that anything she did might be considered acting funny by the watching elves.

Despite not watching Altair approach the woman, she listened as best she could, hoping to pick up on anything that might be helpful.

Re: Escape from Dracholt (Sinfulwolf)

Feeling the impact jostle her bones, Meaghan stumbled back from the beast for a moment. Grunting in pain she licked her lips, feeling a blood lust rising within her. Her red eyes glared at the creature as she handled her sword, feeling the power contained within it. A blade meant for a Vampyre.

With a howl of hunger she lunged forward, swinging the Vampyric blade at the beast's belly, wanting to see its entrails and bathe in its blood.
