"Girls, I think we have a lot of answers now," the drow called out, raising her voice just enough to be heard on the other side of the cottage. She stood pointing down the muddy bank, at the receding boat. "He went willingly, or at most charmed. And if we hustle, we might be able to keep up well enough to follow."

"But we'll have to really hustle."

"No signs of magic being used." Talia announced the results of her quick check. With how little time she had, she simply couldn't do a thorough one. "Doesn't mean they don't have magic, since I haven't found anything that'd rule out the possibility. But at the very least there are no obvious signs of any spells being cast here." The tiefling grimaced. "If he really went willingly, then that'd explain how this happened so smoothly. Shall we pursue?"

"Doesn't surprise me. Men are lead by their wants afterall." Not to mention, Kat was fairly sure half of these people around here were shrill harpies given their general reaction to them trying to help.

"Yup. Walked out. Now the question is, is the magic on the men, or is it on the women here that's making them, well, act like this. Well, we can find out by going to go see the lizardfolk. Least we've the direction they are going.," says Laya cheerfully as she strolled out, and looking for a solid path to follow.

"Or maybe everyone here's a dick. Though the fact that they all got married, I can only assume they weren't always like this."

''I-I really want to condemn this kind of behavior, but my goddess probably would only approve of it. I-It’s not uncommon in communities of my goddess to share ones love, it’s even encouraged, since one doesn’t marry another but a community in Eldath eyes. I-I can’t say I approve of such behavior, but the men and women usually live happily in those places, I’m not one to judge them if they’re happy, and looking at the foul mood in this place, this town would probably benefit from such an approach.'' Weiss explained with a complicated look on her face, there were parts of her faith she didn’t feel particularly strong towards.

''A-Although, I disagree with such a philosophy and probably most do, we might be able to convince them to see things differently. I-If we’d succeed that, the lizard folk would most likely stop aligning to the unchained and the town might be become a lot happier, though it’s hard to convert people to such extreme views, and there are always those who take it too far, like those who think animals should get the same treatment as humanoids.'' Weiss sighed, before shaking her head. [Let’s go and see if we can fix this issue without too much conflict.] Weiss said, before following the others outside.

And so the girls walked outside, and followed the path through the swamp, as murky as it was. It was early morning, and the girls had a lot of rest. But the swamp was dangerous even beyond wild monsters. They had the natural dangers to worry about...

Time: 9:00

If someone succeeds on a survival check of DC20 to navigate the swamp for the day, then 2 hours will pass and the girls will travel at a steady pace.

Otherwise, 5 hours will pass and the girls will succumb to various ailments. Roll Constitution DC10 or suffer a random ailment to be determined by the GM. After having suffered it, anyone may use Medicine to treat it after the GM declares what the treat DC is.

After traveling for a while, the girls discovered a group of five lizard folk. They seemed to all be females, and mutated in such a way that they looked...

They just looked at the girls at first. No initial hostility, but they also said nothing either. They were armed and seemed ready to answer a fight.

Map out, the ranger would do her best to follow her map to the letter and leading her party to the best of her ability. Today was the day her training as a ranger paid off. Her map turned out to be better then she realized and the the path was on point. Yeah, their feet might get a little wet but for the most part they were on the right path and the ranger felt quite confident. She didn't miss a beat today and she was feeling quite proud of herself. "Keep on this heading. We should be able to catch their trail soon..." And this was where she paused at the sight of the lizard women. They were quite...different then what she had heard and she could partially see why the men were so quick to fall for them. And leaving women like the one they ran into for this was not a bad trade off. They thankfully didn't seem hostile but their weapons were still out and she had to be careful. She'd roll up the map for now and take a step back. "Guys, one of you do the talking. I'm out of my element. "

Kethanua kept walking when Lyra paused, her eyes locked on the largest of the five lizard-girls. Staring her down, even. She left her rapier untouched at her hip, and none of her movements were hesitant. Pretty blunt with the questions, too, once she was close enough to speak without raising her voice.

"Half-breeds? Or did something happen to you?"

Talia groaned slightly as she glanced at the drow. While she wasn't all that good at making new friends or talking to people she had just met - unless she was trying to sell them some idea, a skill she picked up at the guild - but she could recognize things like being too blunt. Kethanua was, in her opinion, exactly that. "Please don't mind her approach." The tiefling gestured apologetically. "Our friend here has a distant relationship with the concept of tact. She doesn't mean to offend, she's merely curious about your appearance. To my knowledge, she had never come across someone like you underground."

"Full breed. Changed." they replied, still looking skeptical at the girls. Though they looked keen on saying more until one of them makes an impression. (possibly by rolling something.)

Laya looks them over. Huh. Nose teeth? Freaky. Real mad magician playing god vibes coming out of here. She wondered if that was their real mouth and the human parts was just a fake.

"Hello. It's nice to meet you all. We're independent investigators charged with assessing the current tension between the town and you. Or to put it bluntly, we'd like to see your camp so we can try and work out what's going on so we stop getting stories about you stealing men and such. Would that be okay? Otherwise you're going to keep causing a fuss and more violent groups may come up. I'd be willing to play some music and tell stories in exchange.," smiles Laya, giving a bow.

Weiss was caught off guard by how humanoid the lizard folk looked, if she could still call them that, at this point they might as well be an entirely new race. However, Weiss wasn’t one to judge them on looks, and from what she could tell so far, they weren’t hostile to the village at all, they probably are desperate for men, and turned to the only place they could look.

''F-First of all, excuse us for intruding on your territory. W-What my friend is trying to say, is that w-we’re looking where the missing men of the village have disappeared to, and I’ve reason to believe they came with you willingly, and because of that their village is in complete turmoil. Now, I can’t exactly tell you not to persuade men to leave there village and come to yours, as I’m pretty sure you need them as much as they do, but perhaps you’re willing to negotiate some sort of treaty that would benefit both parties involved. T-The worst thing that could happen here, is for the both of the parties to go to war, it would only cause needless victims. S-So could you perhaps guide us to your village, and allow us to talk to your chief, so we might find a suitable solution to this.'' Weiss tries to add at Laya’s attempt of diplomancy, as she hoped they could settle is dispute without any causalities.

(Weiss is trying to work together with Laya to persuade the Lizard folk in bringing them to their leader, so Laya gets advantage on her persuasion roll which I will make in her stead,

"Who is missing, when all are accounted for?" one of the lizards inquired back. "None are in danger. It is the opposite. Quite safe." she said. "Don't need men. Just... Human Men are fine too, now. Tribe is exploring their sexuality. New human clan leader is... Difficult. Xenophobic. Evil. You are welcome to stay. Don't cause trouble." she said, before inviting the group to follow them.

"Evil, huh." Talia mused. It wasn't that one-sided, she was certain of it. Not when townsfolk were all but up in arms about it. Still, this was a chance to explore the lizard camp a bit without getting into a fight, hopefully. "Well, thank you for your invitation. We'll be on our best behaviour, I assure you." She nodded at the lizardgirls. Though it wouldn't hurt to confirm their intentions first... She tried to get a read on them, but it was proving difficult. Perhaps their mutations were throwing her off? The sorceress glanced at the rest of the group, wondering if any of them would be able to check how sincere they were.

"Of course," Kethanua agreed. "We will not begin any quarrels with your people." And indeed, she had no plans to. If the lizards weren't out-breeding, they weren't the kind of corrupted she had come to worry about. That just left the question of the village men reportedly selling their women into slavery. She wasn't making any promises about that one.

Along the way, she seemed to struggle to keep pace, frequently stumbling and using the surrounding underbrush for stability. It wasn't an impressive display, but she consistently refused any offers of help. She might have had an easier time if her attention hadn't been almost everywhere but right in front of her.

Weiss was rather curious about why they would have a human clan leader in the first place. She’d assume that they usually would be led by one of their own race. ''W-When someone leaves out of nowhere the townsfolk assume they’ve been kidnapped, and it causes quite a bit of trouble for the town'' Weiss explained to the lizard women, while she takes a good look at them. She didn’t think they were hostile, and from what it looked like they sounded decently welcoming, but she was still somewhat wary off them, even if she was eager to trust them.

''I-I’m curious though, if you consider your currently ruler to be difficult and evil, why are you following him, is it because of some ancient tradition, or are you perhaps being oppressed by him? I-If it is tradition, how does one become clan leader? B-Because it sounds like you aren’t too happy with your current one.'' Weiss asked the women, hoping to get some more information out of them, and if they somehow managed to become their new clan leader, a lot of things could be easily solved.

"I think they meant the mayor, Weiss." Talia sighed, shaking her head. "You'll note they said 'human clan leader'. If their leader was xenophobic, I don't think outsiders would be allowed to walk among them."

''W-Whoops, I suppose it makes a lot more sense they were talking about the mayor. M-My bad, I kind of misunderstood them.'' Weiss apologized as she felt like an idiot for thinking they were talking about their own leader. ''S-Sorry, I misunderstood you and thought you were talking about your own clan leader. S-Since we don’t call them that it confused me a little, but from what I’ve seen, the human clan leader doesn’t look to be completely unreasonable, have you already tried talking with her, or does she simply refuse any kind of diplomatic attempts made by the lizards folk?'' Weiss asked, still slightly embarrassed by her early mistake.

[Talia's Insight] Talia thinks that the lizard people probably don't like cheese.

[Weiss' Insight] Weiss thinks that the lizard girls think her outfit is 'so' last edition.

"She does not wish to commune with our kind any further. She has warned us never to come to that town again, and mingle with the humans we enjoy being with. Your human tradition of marriage, your selfishness of belonging, thinking you own each other... It's turning your kind violent. Savage. It's no wonder you sometimes get along with the orcs."

With that the girls were freely allowed into the town, taken just a bit through the swamp and into a village of rounded wooden buildings, almost like upside down ships, that the lizard people lived in. There, they saw that there were not only lizard women, but also lizard men, in addition to the scarce sightings of human men and women in the village. The morality of this village seemed highly different when it seemed both ignored and enjoyed that there were

Weiss tried her best to avert her eyes from the various acts of debauchery happening around her, it is great that the men and women enjoyed it or didn’t seem to mind, but Weiss wasn’t exactly comfortable with them ravaging each other so openly, as her face was bright red from fleeting perverted thoughts. ''I-I can tell the men and women don’t exactly mind being here, even if they’re a bit too open about it, it’s better than them being miserable I suppose.''

''T-Though, your perception of marriage might be slight warped by the nearby town. It isn’t supposed to be one person owning another. I-It’s supposed to be a gesture of wanting to spend your entire life with one person, because your love for each other is so incredibly strong, that you don’t want anyone else but each other. A-Aren’t there couples like that among your people?'' Weiss curiously asked if they at least could relate to such a feeling. ''However, often people go into marriage for the wrong reasons, like power or greed, and sometimes they rush into marriage or the person simply changes along the line. T-That’s when things usually turn sour between married couples.''

''H-Have you perhaps considered living closely or with a human community that works the same as yours? C-Communities that usually believe in the goddess I worship prefer sharing each other over marriage, and there are probably several druidic circles that would happily accept your kind.'' Weiss explained to them, curious if they’re willing to migrate towards such a community. Though, Weiss looked rather distracted by the constant debauchery going on around her, as she couldn’t keep her eyes from glancing occasionally at the various acts.
