I don't usually find myself disagreeing with Yummy, but I think some moderation would be beneficial.

How about if we keep the untranslated games in a different forum? I don't mind the RPGMaker format in the slightest, but for the life of me I cannot sit through the game of "Talk to everyone in town to try and progress the story" followed by "pray to god that there are no more advanced plots or mechanics" with the ever favorite "What is this damn menu button" game.

If a game gets translated we can make a thread for it here, but for the games all in runes that are the same kinda dime-a-dozen collections of recolour H pics, I really feel like they could be filtered out. People who enjoy using the texthookers and sifting through the games are welcome to it, just like those who like MnF games.

shitty nukige VN's, flash games, text based crap games.
so 99% would go into the subforum.
It would still make sense to make a category for each theme....

While I can see the benefit, it would actually hamper the people who have games across a variety of of engines that like the "one-stop shop" style of the HGames subforum as it is now.

For example, I've a good few RPGM games, a couple Gamemaker releases, a couple of flash titles and a few Ren'Py releases. Sometimes I don't even know what I'm looking for when I chance across something interesting. Engine doesn't matter. If it appeals to something in me, I'll likely enjoy it.

If we were to split the forum as suggested, I'd actually find the "This seems like a good find, let's try it" part of me slowly dying. I don't want that. Splitting the HGames section seems to be very limiting to people that like a broad range of options to choose from at any given time.

I don't like the idea, but acknowledge the benefits it may offer some people in avoiding RPGM games.

As the whole forum is in english, it'd make much more sense to split games by language.
I totally agree with that, i tried some Japanese games, not only you don't enjoy the story but you just waste your time running around.

Being able to avoid untranslated games easily would be a blessing.

Still, i think people who manage the forum should have the final word, because sub forums means people will post in the wrong area and they'll have to put everything back together. ;-)

I would rather have the forum split into English and Japanese, rather than split RPG and non RPG.

The prefix makes it rather clear what type of game the topic talks about, no need of a subforum, imho.
If anything I would get rid of the Incomplete and Full Game prefixes and add all the game types (if anything is missing).

You can also use the Display Options panel to see only the threads with RPG Maker prefix. Then just bookmark that page and there you have it - a personalized subforum.

I think this forum doesn't have enough traffic to even need that much sub-forums, the MnF sub-forum feels unnecessary already.
