Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches

(I don't think Holis armor would fit him, he's 6 feet tall. Naked he be, until he finds some decent clothes then!)

Trex frowns, but doesn't verbally respond to the rest of the groups musings. Aramil speaks up quietly, however; "It doesn't smell like a festival fire."

The group passes over a long narrow stone bridge and arrives in the town to find most of it badly burned down. The rains must have put out most of the fires, because several of the buildings are still partially standing. the only two that look serviceable are a small stone church, from which the smoke is issuing, and a larger stone building further into the town. The streets are paved with cobblestones, and there don't seem to be any bodies anywhere, but the town is deserted.

"I've got a bad feeling about this....." Bolm whispers quietly.

Well... The houses are burned down, so that means that this place was attacked; there's still smoke, so it can't have been too long ago; Oh, and the bodies are missing, so either they're burning in a pile over in the church... or we have more undead friends to play with. Here's to hoping it's the second of the two. Granth says with a disturbing grin made a bit more odd by the small bolts of electricity occasionally flashing across his body and between his teeth as he begins to gather mana into his arm.

Holi remains silent as he looks around for any signs of life, or anything else out of the ordinary.

"Mmm..." Is all Malacet says, her cloak hiding her expression from view. Mentally however, her mind is tallying the houses, trying to count the likely dead to see what they may have to deal with...

"Well... I do hate being right sometimes. On the bright side... even if the village has been zombified, unless great measures were taken, they should be of negligible strength compared to father Bolm's turning capabilities, right?" Tod thinks out loud, sighing. "In any event, should we head to the church? The fact that it's standing should be of some significance."

Carella looks around the town, shrugging as she peers towards both buildings, "Told you... there was no festival going on..."

Holi moves toward the burnt out church, "Well come on then, no need to prolong it. The sooner we find the soon to be dead agin' the sooner we can relax."

Trex leads the way into the church wordlessly, his expression unreadable. He pushes the thick wooden door open, and the group finds the source of the smoke. A vast cloud of it rolls out of the building as he opens the door, and the smoldering pile of partially burnt bodies in the center of the single room begins to flare up again with the increased supply of air.

"What in the Nine Hells happened here? We had word from these people not a week ago...." Bolm whispers quietly to himself.

Granth looks at the corpses as the group walks in. Damn... He says, pausing for a moment with a slightly upset look in his eyes, It was my first guess and not my second. I was really hoping they'd just turned the people into walking targets rather than burning the corpses.

Bolm and Aramil trade a glance, and Trex stalks away. "We should check the other building that's still standing." He says.

Fine, fine. Let's go. Maybe they left some walking target's there. Granth says, hopefully meaning zombies and not survivors when he mentions targets.

Carella looks around quietly then follows behind, watching the area carefully.

No one hears a sound, other than slight breeze and the echo of the smoldering corpses in the church as they walk down the main road of the town. You pass several burnt down wooden buildings, and blood stains can be seen on the ground in a few places. upon reaching the front door of the other stone building, the door is closed and the sign in front of the door reads; "Stonebridge Holding Cells."

Malacet follows in sullen silence, keeping to herself for the duration of their walk...

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches

(Lol, no one wants to open the door?)

Trex silently pushes the door open and moves into the room, glancing in both directions. Nothing springs out to attack him, and Bolm follows him in.

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches

((Hells no! I stand in the back, thank you very much :D))

Malacet follows the pair in, stepping lightly around the small bits of rubble nearby and glancing around, still feeling suspicious of the so-far empty town...

(("Mage, open the door." - Great idea! *rolls eyes*))

Tod enters the room after a few if them are already in, not wanting to go in alone, and not wanting to be alone in the back, should something seal part of the group from the rest.

Holi takes the rear guard for once following the others in last, keeping an eye to the rear just in case anything should pop out.

Re: Scourge of the Silver Marches

So, either there are living people in here, dead people in here, moving targets in here, or some combination of the tree. Well, it might be empty, but that would be no fun. Granth says as he walks into the building along with the other mages.
