Iri paused as Hank's words sank in. His speech, though maybe a little crude, was suprisingly well-thought-out. And amoral. Completely amoral. That being said, it seemed that the man was well aware of his own nature. And giving her a chance to not go the same way. The girl swallowed the last of her meat as she thought about his proposition. On one hand, Hank mentioned his last job, or at least one of his jobs involved taking out a drug den, so his targets did include criminals. That being said, there was no guarantee that all of his targets were guilty, or that killing them was the right thing. Hell, he explicitly said it wasn't. The Anudorian didn't like the sound of getting herself involved in something like that.

Besides, there was also the matter of her own goal. While working with Hank could potentially get her acquainted with someone who might know something, there was nothing to guarantee that. Plus, the way he spoke of his job suggested he didn't care much for investigation. Hell, the job could hurt her chances even more than help. With a sigh, Iri shook her head. "The way you put it... No, I don't want to do it. I'd rather not go into something I'll end up regretting even more later."

Hell, woman, yer lucky you ended up with me rather than someone who'd treat ya far worse. Iri eyed Hank, wondering how to respond to the man's words. He had a point, she couldn't deny that. At the same time, however, she was out of options. There were no trails for her to follow. "Look. A couple years ago, I was just another girl living in the desert. Then I found some strange, black stone that ended up giving me power to use shadows as a weapon and armor - literally." The girl explained. "The thing is, when I touched the stone, I heard a voice calling out to me. A woman, saying that she'd watch my progress or something like that. I've been trying to find something, anything that'd let me figure out what the Hell that stone was or maybe even locate that woman. It had to be something demonic, and all I've managed to learn was that if you want demons, you go here. Not like I've got anything else left to do."

Watching Hank go, Iri let out a sigh before collecting the plates and washing them. She briefly wondered whether she should reconsider her earlier choice, but in the end she wasn't quite convinced a career in assassination was something she'd like to do. As such, she opted to see if there were any chores she could help with for today. And Hell, maybe she could try to find and get to know that succubus and lamia that lived here as well? Maybe they'd be able to tell the girl more about Acheron and Hank. Right now, she just didn't know enough to form a complete opinion.

While doing some chores, Iri was able to gather some information about Hank from the various individuals about the house. He put action before thought, though he's not entirely thoughtless. The general consensus around was that Hank was a psychopathic and perverted maniac who seemed just human and rational enough to be around without fearing for your life, provided he wasn't hunting you that is. Also a man of his word, a strange man to have a sense of honor while still being so bloodthirsty, so if Hank promised Iri a place to stay, then he meant it. In addition, part of the reason she was allowed to stay was due to the fact that he learned Iri went into Heat sometimes. Since he liked her, he was eager to satisfy her lust whenever it came up. The goblins welcomed Iri as one of their own, another female to add to the population of the parties Hank held whenever he had extra dosh to spend on alcohol and gratuitous amounts of food.

Still, Hank wasn't irresponsible, he was trying to fix this place up, having just situated himself a week ago. The lamia said he used to have nowhere to sleep, often choosing to sleep in the streets or in the wilderness. She went on to say that such was why he thought the bed alone was good for Iri. It was more than he usually ever had.

Other than that, most women here didn't know too much about Acheron other than it's a cesspool of mutants and demons of all different kinds, and it was the kind of place where Hank fit in. There was a martial arena and various places who were always hiring people willing to risk their lives, as well as a few possible other job opportunities on the side that might exist.

As far as her main reason for being here, no one in the house knew where Iri could turn to in order to figure things out. Hank was the only one with contacts in the city. The goblins said they were criminals hiding out and making drugs before Hank busted in, killed the ones who owned the place and their chieftain, and actually fucked the succubus into submission, who was feeding off the goblins there. Which may surprise Iri that a human made a succubus who was ALSO a demon, his bitch. Another insight to the kind of person Hank was.

Iri mused on what she was told as she did her part to make this place a bit more liveable. Hank was, as far as she could tell, most likely insane. Functional, but insane. And seemed to be a decent person under all that, which actually made things quite convenient for her. She had a free (well, almost free) room, bed and food to feed herself with. The only problem was that Acheron was unfamiliar territory and she was likely to get into trouble, especially since she had no idea where to look for the information she wanted. While the tolerance the demons seemed to favor had it's upsides, there were quite a few downsides to it as well. The relatively loose norms were a good enviroment for those less moral to thrive in. The girl would have to tread carefully.

Thinking on her issues brought Hank to Iri's mind again. The way she saw it, she'd have a much easier time hunting for information if she had either money to buy the intel with or made a name for herself, enough fame to ensure that someone would try to gain favors with her. Or alternatively, stick with someone who already had contacts established. All three options suggested that sticking with Hank was likely the safest way of doing so, and it's not like she'd be able to avoid violence. The man seemed to be right about one thing - based on the number of places hiring people willing to fight and put their lives on the line, life in Acheron required that you play hard. Sighing, she decided to speak about things with him again once he got back. For all of his faults, at least he was more trustworthy than the demons.

Waiting, and doing chores around the house, Iri would find the hour grow late, and Hank still not making his return. The goblins and other haremettes that Hank had began to voice their concern, as he usually returned before dark. Once night finally fell, it became the general opinion that Hank must have gotten held up somewhere. However, the goblins, lamia and succubus looked none too concerned. They still had a place to stay, and Hank vanishing just meant they had to get food from somewhere else. Life in the house looked quite ready to move on without him, leaving Iri as possibly the only one who might care, for her own reasons.

Iri was nonplussed. Sure, she was a little concerned about Hank, but not overmuch. She didn't know him enough to care about the man in any meaningful fashion. However, she did feel she owed him for his help. And besides, she needed to go out sometime anyway to do her own thing. While it was possible that he was simply late, considering the dangerous nature of his job it was equally plausible that he got into trouble. And with a sigh, the young girl decided that someone better investigate. Gathering her equipment, what little she had, the Anudorian set out to look for the killer. And while the streets of Acheron were a dangerous place, probably even more so after sunset, she was also at her most dangerous in the dark.

Making her way out onto the streets, Iri chose to ask around to see if anyone knew the whereabouts of Hank. As it turned out, a lot of the women of Acheron knew about Hank, and almost just as many didn't really like him and his sexual advances. Though there were also plenty who didn't know where he was currently, but also seemed to like him. One such a woman, an oni, was walking through the streets and stated that she saw him go into an agency that does contracts for people, and sends out their mercenaries to do dangerous jobs. With directions in hand, Iri would go there, and find a witch over the counter, hat and all. She seemed rather sly in appearance, and given her hat, no doubt was a mortal enemy of Hank. It was easy enough to be told where he went though. One simple inquiry and the witch would direct Iri's attention to an abandoned part of Acheron where criminals tended to reside. "He was hunting a group of kidnappers there. Good luck~" the witch would bid Iri farewell.

The only thing that the contractors knew was that the group in question was a collection of demons and succubi, all male, who were no doubt kidnapping people to absorb their energy in addition to robbing them and satisfying their sadistic lusts on them. Since they had no indication of where their hideout would be, it meant that Iri would have to hunt down their location and possibly find Hank along the way. "Just remember, it's dangerous for girls like you out there~" she left Iri with her own warning.

Iri sighed as she surveyed the abandoned part of town. She came here after leaving the mercenary agency, lacking any other trail. The problem was, she had little idea about what to do next. This wasn't something she was particularly good at, tracking and searching. Especially in a city. Still, she had no other idea than to take a look around. From what she gathered, the group she was looking for had to be at least a few demons strong. Considering it didn't get stamped out yet and managed to likely give Hank trouble, it was likely much stronger than that, though. Sighing, the girl reached into herself and drew upon her powers, covering herself in an armor of shadows as she moved into the district. A group that large had to have a base somewhere, a place that was big enough for them to live in, store whatever they needed and provide a room or two to keep captives in. There could be only a limited number of buildings that filled such criteria while being defensible enough or inconspicuous enough.

As Iri searched, keeping to the shadows and taking advantage of her ability to see in the dark at first, then going airborne once night fell completely, her thoughts turned to Hank once more. He was odd, bloodthirsty, and likely had a habit of hitting on anything that was female, pretty and had a pulse. Altough she wasn't sure whether that last one would be much of a barrier to him. She was also somewhat worried about the state she'd find him in, considering the group he was hunting was apparently all male. Even if some of them were gay or bi, he likely would object to whatever they were trying to do to him, violently. That's why she was, aside of a potential base, also looking for signs of recent fights. While there was also the option of looking for the closest random criminal, asking questions and moving on to the next until she got the answers she wanted, that was risky and unlikely to get any results. So she was stuck with searching on her own.

Iri, searching at first by air, found that after fifteen minutes, the city just started looking the same all over. So, she chose to land, and search not in the streets, but from rooftop to rooftop, searching for signs of activity. Choosing this method of searching, Iri did quickly come upon sounds of activity while searching. She stood on a two story house that seemed to belong once to a middle class citizen. Inside, she heard copious amounts of sex. Doing as she intended and investigating, Iri found the second floor to be absolutely lively while the lower floor less so. Phasing in through the wall, Iri came into a small bedroom, silently finding herself in the corner of the room in the dark. In the room was just two people. Iri stared at the scene in front of her for a moment. She wasn't suprised by it, to be honest. She was, however, wondering if she got the right place at all. The two people fucking didn't look demonic at all, which at first made her think she found the wrong criminals. Then it occured to her they could be simply human-looking succubi or something. Turning away from the fucking pair, the girl considered her course of action. She could continue through the room or find another entry point. Both actions had their own risks associated with them. The pair seemed to not notice her, but that could change all to easily. The other option wasn't guaranteed to work. Gathering her wits, Iri decided not to waste time and move on from here. Briefly using her powers to teleport through the shadows in the room and reach the door silently, she moved to creep outside and continue the investigation.

There was someone walking the hallway too, nearly bumping into Iri if she didn't retreat back into the open room. This wasn't that suprising, Iri had to admit. Considering his state of undress, he was obviously about to engage in sex with someone or already did that. Possibly both. With that little problem out of the way, Iri continued her search. First, she wanted to confirm whether this was the kidnapping ring. While it was entirely possible that all the kidnapped people were now being fucked, she'd rather not go into the middle of a large orgy just yet. Instead, she decided to search the areas that were clear of activity, to get some ideas as to what exactly this place was supposed to be. Maybe there'd be cells or something around here? In the basement, assuming there was one, perhaps?

Examining the room she was in, Iri began to realize what this place was. A brothel of some sort, one of dubious legality considering it's location. One that dealt in slaves, perhaps?
