All right I guess it's time to get started on this, since the new board is up now. Those of you from TH know the drill, go ahead and start working on your characters if you haven't and post them. I know there was a lot of interest, but the following have the first crack for showing the most interest: Copper, P-Bird, Lurker, Tassadar, and Megamickel. Use a 32 point-buy since I'm feeling generous and it cuts down on rolling, and take average hit points. If you don't know how to do that just let me know and I'll put it up, as well as anything else we may need. Thanks.

Edit: Map/setting links

Tiefling stats - medium sized humanoid (planetouched)
-base speed 30 ft.,
-darkvision 60 ft.
-+2 bluff, hide
-favored class rogue
-languages - common
-for the last part I was thinking you get a small bonus or a spell-like ability depending on your heritage for example: demon-blood a +2 to saves vs. electricity and poison, or devil blood a +2 to saves vs. fire and poison.

Re: D&D campaign (to be named)

Are we going to use OpenRPG? If so, I'll just fill my character sheet out there.

Also, for magic, will it be the traditional system or the spell point system from Unearthed Arcana? I'm partial to the points system myself, but whatever.

Re: D&D campaign (to be named)

Ah-ha. Found it. The RP forum seems to be a bit hidden. o.o

Could you refresh my memory of how a 32 point buy works? I've only used stat-buying once.

Edit: Also, rolling for starting GP or take the average?

Re: D&D campaign (to be named)

Yeah it does seem kind of hidden doesn't it. I was just going to do the game here, with the traditional magic system. Go ahead and take average starting gold, and give me me a minute to put the point-buy stuff up.

Edit:
All ability scores start at 8.
Take 32 points to spread out among all abilities. The point cost for the various scores goes like thus (with no base ability lower than 8 and none higher than 18):
Ability score =>Point cost
==========================
9 =>1
10 =>2
11 =>3
12 =>4
13 =>5
14 =>6
15 =>8
16 =>10
17 =>13
18 =>16
Add and subtract racial bonuses and penalties.
That’s it. This method ensures that you all start at equal (if still high) ground.

Re: D&D campaign (to be named)

Thanks for the sheet, Mega. And we're just using 3.5 c-gen rules, right? As stated, I've been playing Pathfinder, which is a little different, so I just want to know if I can just follow along in my PH while I do this *laughs*

Also, I know we talked about this before, but anyone got an idea on what they're playing? I've got a few charries bouncing in my head, but I'd like to be certain before I let one out...

Re: D&D campaign (to be named)

Yeah, just the normal old 3.5 charrie rules. I know Megamickel is a TN druid, and Lurker was planning on a sorceror but he hasn't posted yet, and I think pbird said something about warlock, but I'm not sure on the last two so. Yeah post the sheets here. Hopefully you guy's don't know too much about the Age of Worms campaign since there is lot's of stuff around on it. I am changing a lot of stuff around from how it was made though so it won't help to look up much on it.

Re: D&D campaign (to be named)

Yeah, I'm building a Warlock. As an FYI to the DM, I couldn't find info on their starting gold so I assumed it was the same as Sorc/Wiz. (I could find gold left AFTER buying pointless crap, but I didn't want to use that number. >.>'')

Just as a refresher: If I recall correctly, so long as we weren't stupid you didn't care overly much about weight/food carried?

Re: D&D campaign (to be named)

Yeah, I think the starting gold for a SOR/WIZ would probably be the same for a warlock. Yeah weight/encumbrance isn't something I even bother with unless you're carrying something obvious like a lifesize marble statue, or 5 suits of armor.

Looks good except your stats add up to 34, unless I'm adding wrong. What is she some kind of germaphobe? Warlocks sound cool, just from that little bit I can see there.

Warlocks are essentially sorcs + 10. They get even fewer abilities, but they can use them allll day long.

And the soap is because she might want to take, you know, a bath.

Edit: Crud. You're right about the stats. I'll need to tweak that...

Edit Edit: There. Took the strength hit.

Well at least my adding skills haven't gone to shit. Yeah I was just messing with you on the soap, I've never really seen anyone take fluff items beside myself. It's nice to see someone think about stuff like that, cause really who wants to walk around smelling like orc guts.

This is just curiousity really what kind of damage is caused by eldritch blast is it just plain magic damage?

Right now it is just plain magic damage - however there are various Invocations which exist only to shape it into different attacks. Some effect the range (EG: Elderitch Spear, Least Invocation, Range becomes 250 feet)...some effect the damage (EG: Vitrolic Blast, Greater Invocation. Damage becomes acid, adds 2D6, and can deal additional damage over next few rounds)

If the Eldritch Blast modifing invocations are used you can only use one shape changing and one effect changing one at the same time.

Edit: Also, as I level up the Eldritch Blast becomes more powerful.

Hmm. May lean toward a fighter type, if we've got primarily casters right now. Just may review the gods and see if there's a 3.5 I like...

Character sheet to follow when I have time to type one up.

* +2 Constitution, -2 Charisma.
* Medium: As Medium creatures, dwarves have no special bonuses or penalties due to their size.
* Dwarf base land speed is 20 feet. However, dwarves can move at this speed even when wearing medium or heavy armor or when carrying a medium or heavy load (unlike other creatures, whose speed is reduced in such situations).
* Darkvision: Dwarves can see in the dark up to 60 feet. Darkvision is black and white only, but it is otherwise like normal sight, and dwarves can function just fine with no light at all.
* Stonecunning: This ability grants a dwarf a +2 racial bonus on Search checks to notice unusual stonework, such as sliding walls, stonework traps, new construction (even when built to match the old), unsafe stone surfaces, shaky stone ceilings, and the like. Something that isn’t stone but that is disguised as stone also counts as unusual stonework. A dwarf who merely comes within 10 feet of unusual stonework can make a Search check as if he were actively searching, and a dwarf can use the Search skill to find stonework traps as a rogue can. A dwarf can also intuit depth, sensing his approximate depth underground as naturally as a human can sense which way is up.
* Weapon Familiarity: Dwarves may treat dwarven waraxes and dwarven urgroshes as martial weapons, rather than exotic weapons.
* Stability: A dwarf gains a +4 bonus on ability checks made to resist being bull rushed or tripped when standing on the ground (but not when climbing, flying, riding, or otherwise not standing firmly on the ground).
* +2 racial bonus on saving throws against poison.
* +2 racial bonus on saving throws against spells and spell-like effects.
* +1 racial bonus on attack rolls against orcs and goblinoids.
* +4 dodge bonus to Armor Class against monsters of the giant type. Any time a creature loses its Dexterity bonus (if any) to Armor Class, such as when it’s caught flat-footed, it loses its dodge bonus, too.
* +2 racial bonus on Appraise checks that are related to stone or metal items.
* +2 racial bonus on Craft checks that are related to stone or metal.
* Automatic Languages: Common and Dwarven. Bonus Languages: Giant, Gnome, Goblin, Orc, Terran, and Undercommon.
* Favored Class: Fighter. A multiclass dwarf’s fighter class does not count when determining whether he takes an experience point penalty for multiclassing

Languages:
Common
Dwarven

*laughs* some of our old games used to take hours for C-gen because we only had one Aurora's Whole Realms catalogue to pass between five players. You wanna talk fluff items, we had item lists as long as the Skills chart, if not longer.

Also reminds me of the time we finished a fight with some bandits or something and the Amazon of the group decided she needed to wash the blood off. I started cackling and when everyone asked what was so funny, the reply was "Gonna wash that man right outta my hair..."

And Ryu, we use average starting money for whatever class you've chosen.

Edit: Btw, says in the book 1st level charries get max hps to start, though you said to take the average. Which we going with?
