The three save-slots have no indication what's saved in them at the 'pick a slot to overwrite' screen. I don't even know which one my longrunning game is saved in.

If you choose the same saveslot when you start a new game, then yes it will overwrite it. You can basically have 3 different "games" at once, 1 per slot.

That game was just a placeholder for SU. They probably will work on it when SU ever gets completed.
