And the majority of the other are female protag, so you kind of proved your own point by only finding one.

wellp, lets keep focus on the "current" project haha, I'll start work on Anthophobia 2 as soon as Anthophobia 1 project ends.
The major reason why I keep trying to avoid the male focused protagonist is I have actual plan for the another project.

A project I haven't shown in public.
(because it's way too early since I didn't even start the Anthophobia 2)

You will see when the time has come.

If I recall correctly the person doing the CG's has been in hiding or wanted to leave the online drawing side of the internet and so it's interesting that they are doing it once again.

Ok, um. I discovered exactly what you meant and collected #2 and #3 basically immediately after eachother. Still don't even know where #5 is.

Dead scientist or giant tube?

Scientist is in the same room as the sprite.
Same with the agent in the giaint tube.

No, male protagonist games do not sell well. It's completely unfair to even quote Monster Girl Quest since that is one of the best H games in existance. What actually sells well is monster girl games not male protagonist games.

But that doesn't translate to sale, just look at the sale number and number of review between Kyrieru's 2 game, one has female protag, and one has male.

Hey guys I finally could buy this game but the question is a method.
For obvious reasons and censorship I rather avoid DLSite and it's interface from nightmares.
But that leaves patreon.
Now which tier?
10$ doesn't mention uncensored or future updates like s(p)oon 1.5.
So I'm assuming 15$ tier, but can I pledge only once? It would be frightening to stay at this tier with my shitty currency. :V T.T

$15 monthly will get you the monthly WIP version, along with the $10 stuff.

On the topic of male protag games - i hate them. it usually means vanilla/hetero, with or without monster girls which are a turn-off.

What are you talking about? 5000 sales on the male protag game is epic! Most games on DLsite never get past 2500 sales. I'd say the male game was a huge success.

Also, check the sales on the Eng DLsite.

Eroico was just 100 sales behind Kuro.

I get that male protags aren't for everyone, but there is still a huge market for it. I wish more Dev's took advantage of it.

The point is that games with female protagonists usually do better than ones with male protagonists, not that they do bad.
We should probably end it here and not clutter this thread with more opinions and stats.

Just wanted to say... I bought this awesome game when it was out on Kimochi, and I'm happily going to pay another 10$ for the updated release. It's just that good, and just that worth it. Thank you Sourjelly, you and your team rock!

Wellp, the main reason many devs avoid the male protagonist is, the budget IMO. You will have to hire the CV actress for the variety. or just give up on giving the voice on characters.

Think about it, if there are 12 type of female monsters, you will have to hire the 12 voice actress. but if the protagonist is female, you only need one.
