The Adbot's Revenge!

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

"Behead something and that's usually a damn good surefire way to kill it, too," Copper states, having wandered up sometime during the discussion about killing. "Now, mind recapping just what in the fact you did and why we're going to have to clean up your mess?" she ribs Siphon playfully, the question rhetorical.

"So, you thinking we're going to have to go take out another one of those things? And soon? At least, I'm hoping, that we'll be going into this a little more prepared than last time." She looks thoughtful. "You said the other thing got away, right? Maybe it's picking up on him, or his ship. A second one that he had stationed nearby in case the first one got attacked?"

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

Burrito arrives back in the lab after a short talk with the president, a smirk on his face "I've got good news. The city is being evacuated as we speak, and the defenses are being prepared. Within the next half-hour, we'll be at full alert status. Nothing will be getting anywhere close to this city." Burrito says, chuckling to himself "Once the defenses are operational, you can go ahead and link with it. It may give away our position, but all the non-military personnel will have been evacuated by then." he says, eying the device, then noticing Grave's expression "What's on your mind, Grave? If you're going to be fighting alongside me, I need to know what's wrong." he states, a smile on his face

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

Tsuki sighed, listening in. Obviously she wanted sleep, but that wasn't going to come for a while it seemed, so she forced herself to stay awake.

"Siphon, don't talk like that. Don't jinx it. Heh. But really, if something were to go wrong, I think, or at least hope, all of us would rather capture you or something and find someway to get you back to your senses. Besides the fact you're the only one that knows the inner workings of whatever it is we're fighting, you're our friend. I for one am not going to kill you."

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

Grave looked at Burrito, then sighed. The warrior decided to be honest. "I am not sure if I want to fight this war. I like challenges, but not the scrap 2000 bots in one minute kind of challenges. On the other hand, it seems that I don't have much of a choice, with a Hive that close to this place... I just prefer to enjoy my fights, and fighting masses of weak enemies is hardly any fun at all. It seems that the number of strong enemies is limited." Grave paused for a moment, then shook his head. "I don't plan to leave anytime soon, so you can rely on me during your next operation. Just don't expect that I'll be delighted by the prospect of fighting against something that attacks me and dies after less that two minutes. And speaking of tough foes..." The warrior's gaze turned towards Siphon. "I believe that trying to convince you to abandon your plan will do no good. If that's your wish, I shall honor it."

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

After listening to Grave's words, burrito sighs and in an instant his right hand has his blade drawn and the tip touching Grave's throat "I'd be happy to spar with you after this battle. Just so long as you survive long enough to help us destroy the hive." he says, then sheathes his blade and tilts his head to the right, a distinct cracking noise being heard "and Siphon. Whatever it is, know that I'll help you every step of the way as best I can."

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

Grave was suprised by Burrito's reaction. He rarely met people who reacted to his selfishness like that. The soldier wasn't some common fighter. A large, vicious grin appeared on the warrior's face. "Heh... No wonder you're a commander... You know how to motivate people."

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

"Thanks for the compliment. Now, the evacuation should be about finished by now. Do it, Siphon." Burrito says, crossing his arms and smiling "Let's find these bastards and put them to rest."

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

Siphon listened to all of them, somewhat surprised at their reluctance of his plan. Perhaps he had under estimated the majority of them. Grave of course was a warrior and had fairly readily agreed, but he also, after seeing the other wraith, had no reason to trust him to begin with. Shrike was beginning to see the inner workings of his mind, and he was glad privately to have someone who more understood what he might end up going through, perhaps even more so than he did.

I'm curious about these blades of yours Shrike, later on try to explain just what and how they are.

Outwardly he did react to their comments, one by one.

"Grave, I thank you for that, but it seems at least Tsuki here has another plan with that. My first impression of you has been one of honor, and your actions have only reinforced that thought."

"Copper, as always, you hit the nail on the head, beheadings usually work. As far as I know neither he or I can grow a new head, and I have no desire to test that on myself."

"Tsuki, I do appreciate your support, and I'll offer you this. If the chance presents itself should anything ugly happen, if you ALL can KO me without it causing harm to anyone then take it, otherwise do what you would if a terminator got loose in here and started tearing up the place."

"Oh, and Copper, long story short, I attempted to find a bypass for the genetic key we spoke of earlier and found one, only somehow I created this core. With no memory of doing it nor how I did it."

He paused for a deep breath then said to Burrito, "yes sir, initiating link now."

There was a humming sound in the air, though Siphon didn't seem to flinch at all as it happened, so it was likely this was supposed to happen, or at least he believed it was. There was a brief moment, and then he brought up some kind of holographic display.

"Ok, this is us the large blue dot on the map, and that red dot is our hive. It seems to be under about twenty five feet of dirt though, and only mildly active. Range out seems to be forty miles, give or take a few hundred meters. Reading roughly sixty bio-signs on the ship, but I can't tell if they are human or otherwise from here. Wait, something is happening."

He closed his eyes, seeming to concentrate through the core, and after a minute opened them and very clearly stated, "they've detected us, the hive is powering up some of it's other systems, but they haven't moved yet. I suspect if they can move it, we have less than five minutes to be ready for them before they lift off, and less than two after that before they are on top of us."

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

Burrito nods calmly, then reaches his right index and middle finger for his ear "Attention. All members of the army. To your stations! We have five minutes to get ready!" he says into the radio "Tsuki, you stay here until I call for you. Grave. Copper. You're with me. Siphon, stay here with Tsuki and see what you two can do. If you make any discoveries, let me know over the radio immediately." he says, sirens beginning to sound throughout the city, army members and defense forces moving throughout the city, the walls of the city lined with defensive positions and long-distance artillery. The entire city looked like a ghost-town, what with soldiers left and right hiding throughout the city to defend it. Tanks began taking up defensive positions around the central building which housed the president, as well as around the research lab "Let's go!" Burrito yells, rushing out of the lab and towards the defensive line around the central assembly building "All squads! Take up the best defensive positions you can! I want Gunship choppers in the skies ASAP! Don't let them get near the Central Assembly building!" he yells into the radio, arriving at the main defensive line and heading up the stairs and under the flat surface under the grand overhang at the front of the building

"I want snipers ready and waiting at every window around this building. Make sure they have plenty of ammo. I want the tanks fortified behind sandbags to protect the pilots. Make sure the turret can still move. The bots can take a lot of bullets, but they can't quite handle forty millimeters of Tungsten, now, can they?" he says with a smirk as soldiers all throughout the city begin cheering and calling out rallying cries

Grave followed Burrito without saying a word. He wasn't going to be very useful in this battle - he was a swordsman. He was a strong warrior, but he couldn't shoot. Unless the bots managed to get inside the city, Grave would be pretty much useless.

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

Siphon nodded even as Burrito was half way out of the room. Once he was gone he muttered, "ah screw it, if the fuckers are already aware of where we are I may as well tap into their systems and see what else I can learn."

Doing so he was silent for almost four minutes before stepping back with a very worried expression on his face. "Oh crap."

Off in the distance, the ground exploded outward as the gargantuan hive moved out of the soil it had been hiding under, it's size too large to really comprehend unless one was directly near it. Even from forty miles out, the snipers would be able to see the massive ship rise and take aim, heading directly for the city.

Siphon on the other hand, already had seen the specs for the ship, and knew this was trouble. "Burrito, be advised I have technical spec on the ship. That thing is well over ten MILES in length, it's huge. The hull appears to be identical to what we saw in the one we blew up, but this one is MUCH larger. I've also determined they are powering some kind of energy weapons, they will be in your range in one minute."

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

""WHAT THE FUCK??!! You're telling me that thing is ten MILES in length??!! We don't have the ability to stop that kind of firepower!" Burrito yells into the radio, a concerned looks on his face as he looks at the massive shape looming in the distance and falls to his knees "What have we sown which we must now reap? What the hell did we ever do?" he asks into the radio, a feeling of rage burning deep in his chest "Now, men! Now is the time for you to show your skills! Now is the time for you to defend your rights! Now is the time to shape your future!" he says into the radio, his feelings flowing over with rage and hatred "Do not relent! Fight to the last man!" he cries, running down the steps and standing up on top of a tank, nabbing a bullhorn in his right hand "This is our last line of defense. If they make it here, then they'll pierce right into the heart of our city! Don't relent, do not show fear! Fight on, and live to fap another day!" he yells into the bullhorn, all the soldiers raising their weapons above their head and cheering "This is our home! This is our forum! THIS IS OUR LAND, AND WE SHALL DEFEND IT!"

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

There was dead silence for a moment then Siphon said with a strange tinge to his voice, "Burrito, do we have any nukes? Small, transportable warheads?"

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

"We have one. We intended to use it as a last resort if the city was taken. We'd all flee and set it to remote detonate and nuke the city, wiping them all out. But yeah, we have one nuke." Burrito says into the radio "What are you scheming in that head of yours, Siphon?"

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

Grave sighed as he listened to Burrito's speech. He had another home, but if the battle was lost, he most likely wouldn't manage to get out of the city alive. He watched as the giant Hive moved closer. Reminds me of the one we had in AL... But this is completely different. Disgusting. The one we had at home... It was powerful. Fast. Unstoppable. Worthy of respect.

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

What am I supposed to do?!? Tsuki wondered to herself, this is Siphon's machine, not mine. I have no idea how to work it!

She sat idly by, letting Siphon do what he needed to do. This whole thing was certainly a wake up call, not as if she could sleep with all the commotion anyway.

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

"One nuke won't be enough from the outside."

He let that linger in the air for a moment before adding, "if we have a spare chopper, I... I might be able to fly up to the hive on their blind side, and enter through one of the doors there, should be large enough. I'll fly the damn bomb right down their throats and detonate it from the inside. From what we've seen, an internal explosion like that would almost certainly destroy this thing now."

It was pretty clear what he was suggesting was likely a one way trip. While he waited for an answer, he handed a data pad to Tsuki and spoke to her softly. "This pad contains everything that I can remember about these things. Use it how you see fit."

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

The radio remains silent, Burrito shocked at the suggestion "Request denied. I'm not letting you risk your life to save ours. Everyone here is ready to fight. I can't quite take away their chance to let off some steam, can I?" Burrito says, looking at the men still pumped to fight "They'd all hate themselves if they found out you killed yourself to save them." he says, a smile on his face "Get your ass to the defensive line. We're putting a stop to them."

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

For a moment, it seemed like he was going to say something to that, then apparently thought better of it. "Fair enough. Then I have one other thing that I can try. It's risky, and may not work, but if it does it will give us a fighting chance. You may want to have Shrike standing by for mental clean up though."

Re: The Adbot's Revenge!

Tsuki wasn't the only one taking the opportunity to catch a nap. Pale had wandered off sometime during their little sojourn into the labs, actually locating a quiet broom closet to fold herself up in. The loudspeaker startled her from sleep, knocking over a precarious mop to strike her a neat wake-up tap on the head.

Muttering darkly under her breath, the mage emerges from an upper story window, practically dropping out at first, flaring her wings in a somewhat haphazard fashion to land on Burrito's tank.

"So..."

She yawns.

"What's it gonna be then, eh?"

((Amazing +points to anyone who gets the reference.))
