The stars aren't right!(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Belt of Transformation: 1/day at CL 11.
Morning Helena:HP 40/40 Mana: 24/36 1 point of con damage

A close study reveals the power within the belt: it appears to bestow strength and skill in combat to the wearer for a short time.

Meditating through the night, Helena feels better in the morning, though she is still worn out from using the souls so directly.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Rolling her shoulders as the sun rose, her meditation had put her in a better mood, and the odd crosshatch marks on her arms had faded by half, they'd be gone by tomorrow.

Getting dressed in tight leathers ringed with fur and slipping into her cloak, Helena sighed and stretched. On the one hand, she already had a target, the gambler with supernatural luck. Cheating with magic she suspected, or moving on to the wine merchant.

Finally she decided on the latter, Andre Tyber. He would be harder to find then the gambler but she just had to go about it in a more relaxed way, heading for the nicer taverns she could spot, but she didn't start close to her safehouse, instead meandering to the richer quarter of the city and working her way back from there.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

It seems that Helena is lucky today, for in only the third tavern she visits, she spots a merchant talking with the owner in a slurred voice, casually discussing the price of a barrel of wine. Judging from the numbers being thrown around, it must be quite expensive wine.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Sighing, Helena adjusted her clothing a bit and moved towards the drunk merchant, smiling curiously. Umm... Hello? I'm looking for Andre Tyber? she asked meekly, seeming shy and quiet.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"Well, you've found him, darling. Interested in finding a seller for your wine, perhaps? There's always good market for elven wines." Andre replies, turning to look at Helena, and though his speech is slurry, his eyes are sharp, focusing firmly on her face rather than wandering on her body. The host falls silent for the moment, focusing on his notebook instead, scribing some numbers on the stained page.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

I'm always interested in a sale, but i'm just glad to have found you today. Please, conduct your business here first then maybe join me for a drink? I'd appreciate a moment of your time. Helena said softly, fidgeting a little and blushing at the sharp gaze, averting her own eyes for a moment, before moving to sit at an empty table where they weren't likely to be overheard easily, near a wall or corner if possible, waiting patiently.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

For a moment, Andre seems suspicious, but then he just nods and goes back to negotiating while Helena finds herself an empty corner table, next to a window.

A few minutes later, the portly man stands up and comes to sit in her table. "I don't believe I caught your name, miss...?"

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena. she answered as the man moved to join her, tilting her head, her bright eyes flashing playfully. I enjoy drinking wine, I enjoy tasting it and rolling it across my tongue and deeply inhaling the scent. But that isn't why I came to see you which you figured out very quickly. I could tell because of your eyes....
I would like, and I'm being blunt here, for you not to freak out. I do not want us to be overheard.
helena said, before brushing his mind with hers, speaking mentally.

*An odd Talent but very useful. I was born with it.
I would like perhaps, to be introduced to La Société de Legerdemain, and I know you're a member. To be honest I have various talents, but very little knowledge of actual magic workings...
* Helena mentally told him, looking as she did on the outside, and raising her hand to order them both a drink, before speaking openly. This meeting is my imposing on you, what would you like to drink? she asked, ordering 2 of whatever he asked for.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

The wine merchant seems to be taken aback by the sudden telepathic contact, but his expression hides it well, asking for Reneillé Blank, which the bartender delivers efficiently. The wine is sweet, slightly sparkling, and quite mild, as is fitting for this time of the day. "Most interesting... I might be able to introduce you to some members who would be interested in learning of your talent. But tell me, how did you find out about my membership? It is... not exactly public knowledge and I'm hardly a prominent figure - except among my customers, of course."

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

*Originally I didn't, I'm looking for a set of books that were written in conjuction with some of Van Richten's works, as well as other texts to try and understand my talents a little more. I want to learn. Finding out about you was rather sudden. In my search for the books someone brought up your group and the possibility that if I could get introduced, I could study.
It's... very difficult, to study anything in Nova Vaasa so when I crossed the border I asked. There were a few names that popped up but one of them hardly ever leaves Goblet de Fleurs and I don't feel welcome there... You were my only other option. I'm sorry for bothering you during business, but I didn't know another way, or time...
* Helena told him.

*Even if no one can help me, the more I can learn,
the more prepared I'll be in general. It was so stifling across the border and now all I want to do is learn everything I can now that I'm away from Nova Vaasa,
and Skulls, and Witch hunts. I'd have been burned alive if anyone knew what I could do...
* She finished, sipping on the wine and finding it rather pleasant, paying for the drink herself with Claire's gold since she'd imposed on him.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

"Intriguing. I wonder if your talent is mental or magical in nature..." Andre wonders idly. "Well. I have a rather busy afternoon ahead of me, but I'd be delighted if you chose to accompany me to meet with some of my dear friends in the evening."

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

I'd like that, should I wear anything formal? I mean.. Helena asked aloud, fidgeting a little and tilting her head. I'm not from around this area and to be honest...
the fashion kind of baffles me, it seems so uncomfortable for the ladies at least. I speak and understand a good many languages though so...
she said, seeming a little out of her depth. if he saw through it it could be something so benign as that she was a woman in a strange land and being cautious about what she revealed, what she was comfortable with, and how much she knew. She was dressed as if she knew coin, but wasn't noble, spoke well, but not like an aristocrat.
But this evening? Where should I meet you? It's still early in the day. And I don't like to be out alone passed sundown...
She said, trailing off a little and brushing her hair back.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Andrei actually chuckles at that. "Don't worry about dressing like a noble if you don't want to be mistaken for one - which admittedly has its uses." he replies, taking a sip from his cup of wine. "Actually, this might be a good place for you to wait - the meeting place isn't far from here. I'll probably get here around sunset or slightly before, but I have a couple trickier clients in the afternoon, so I might be running late."

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena nodded and flashed an honest smile, sipping on her wine again. I'll be here then she said cheerfully. *Though if you have trickier clients, is there any way I can help? I can... read emotions... very clearly. I can't read minds but emotions are clear as day.* she sent to him, offering a hopeful smile. Not that I want to swindle anyone but... she continued, checking on Andrei's emotions, and relaying them back to him at that exact moment. It's not so detailed as they're trying to swindle You, but it could give you a clue maybe you can't immediately see,
like depression or an unusually good mood. A way to steer a conversation to find an advantage.
she offered.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Andrei seems... curious, and also rather pleased with himself. Nevertheless, he hesitates before answering. "Ah... It's nice of you to offer, but I wouldn't want to bore you like that. Some of them have interesting stories to be sure, but innkeepers and tavern owners are a stuffy bunch when talking about business."

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena nodded and shrugged. Fair enough I suppose.
I'll see you later in the evening then.
she said, finishing her wine, paying for the drinks, and heading on her way to do other things. Things which she hadn't figured out quite yet, but she was gonna do em.

Which primarily meant going back to her safehouse, which was safe, because Claire was dead, and while Jade was slated for death later, she hadn't found a good opportunity to murder him yet.

Sighing, she locked herself back up with a bit of a pout, flopping onto her bed and grumbling about being bored without Cindy and Willow and Jasmine and her small army of pets.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

As Helena gets back to the hideout, there's a message tucked under the door. "Lord Bradford would like to meet you." it says simply, before relaying instructions on how to get to de Bresais manor, near the edge of the nobles' quarter. There is no signature.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena scowled when she got the message slipped under her door, but it had directions and she'd set up her meet for later, she had time. Sighing, she snapped up the belt buckle, and the rapier, marring the etching that made the blade unique with a brushing hand. A similar design to Claire's, but not identical. Heat made the metal pliable as she pried the sapphires out of the hilt and pocketed them. Now there was no mistaking this weapon, for a dead man's.

The buckle she tucked into a pocket while she belted the sword around her waist tightly and began to walk, moving towards the edge of the noble's quarter, and de Bresais Manor, her collar discarded in her safehouse to further seperate herself from the blond woman of Jade's interest, or the insane Jester of the night prior.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

De Bresais manor is easy to find. Away from the city center and near the wall, it stands out amidst the smaller manors surrounding it. There are lush gardens on the second and third level, and the manor itself is made of white marble and black obsidian, creating a stark contrast where the two meet, only made more impressive by the complete lack of any stains or spots on the surfaces. The first floor has no windows of any kind, and the other two floors are subtly but deliberately obscured by the gardens on their tiers. The door is made of solid wood, painted black. As Helena thumbs the heavy knocker hanging from a gargoyle-like stony hand, she hears footsteps and soon a servant, as haughty as any she has seen, arrives to open the door, giving her a small bow. "Good day, miss. Please state your business." he says, sounding about as deferential as a king addressing a subject.

Re: Are the stars right?(Helena/Courage Wolf)

Helena whistled at the manor as she found it, looking around and wondering how much this place cost, in either blood or gold to build. She loved the gardens though.

Reaching the door, she hit the knocker and was greeted by a servant, who apparently felt like being a dickhead. It was the only word she could think of to describe him. Hi, a complete stranger slid this under my door! I've been rudely summoned, do us Both a favor, and don't look down your nose at me. It's unappreciated and I want to know why this was sent to me,
it's unsigned to add to the headache. Ask Lord Bradford, i'll wait.

She hated when her Food was Rude.
