People are assholes.
I've been scouring youtube for awhile, looking across entertaining videos and other things, and I've found a rather irritating trend that's quite popular with people who can't relate to the subject:
Videos of a single dysfunctional person incapable of proper social interaction who are mocked by one of their family members, and humiliated rather than being helped, and have it put on display unbeknown to them by said family member in secret. There are several examples of this, and they're almost always popular. This trend is one of the most disgusting things I have ever seen, if somebody in your family has fits or tantrums, and he's confused in his life, you do not make fun of him and destroy his life for the amusement of the ignorant and unsympathetic public.
As somebody who has had mental problems and social failures before, I know the position of somebody who can't cope with simple problems or short-comings, and it's not pretty or fun. In todays age social short comings and problems growing up properly are all too common, and yes it's rather queer to watch if you've had no problem with it yourself, but honestly people, if somebody is in that position it's just too cruel to point and laugh.
And I think the point I'm trying to get to is, people who fall by the wayside of life seem to be treated horribly, and when I point that out and get angry at somebody for finding amusement in something cruel, all of a sudden I'm too sensitive. Fucking, no, if an older brother is in a constant rage because he's too confused to decide what's right or wrong, you do not get your camcorder and poke him with a stick.
And further more, the guy in the particular video I'm referring to was perfectly capable of causing him physical harm with his superior physique and strength, but he didn't, and that's highly admirable considering just what his shit of a younger brother was doing. The mother wouldn't stop his brother despite the fact that the elder was clearly upset. The views and likes on the videos encourage stuff of the like as well, and only occasionally does somebody point out that the guy filming it is a douche who doesn't deserve the credit.
And then there are the videos were there's a young child who takes stupid things too hard, and over-reacts. Yes it's a bad social habit, but it doesn't warrant getting laughed at by 400,000 people who you don't even know. Not when you're too young to even be responsible for it, for fucks sakes.
So tell me everyone, why should I have faith in humanity when the larger part of society finds a miserable wretch who can't pick himself up funny? I thought humiliating the down-trodden was evil. That family was the most important thing in the world. That helping the weak was good.
The ideals that I love to see, and respect, are constantly portrayed in fictional works because they can be made flashy. Yet real cases are hardly shown, because nobody cares unless it's relative to them or visually impressive.
But for things that are unfortunate, things that are humiliating and sad, those things are given so much negative attention and humorous response that it's almost unreal to me. Or should I say TOO real. The world is just a little TOO real for me at the moment, and I think I need a moment to calm down.
