I'm gonna have to go with B C on this one... fighting while she's alone would simply result in a renewed beating before she has reinforcements. She needs to delay them another round, and that means looking like she's beat. At the same time, if she can sneak herself the bow, that'll let her make another last stand from a distance. Melee's been disastrous for her so far -- ranged combat has not.
