Ugh... He's just so...bleh. He uses observationalist humor in the most loose sense possible. The reviews usually amount to "Oh, and then there's this thing! And how about this thing? And then there's this other thing I don't care for!". And he'll explain it for all of one second without giving rationale for it other than his own tastes in games.

I don't understand why he ragged on Torchlight for being a point and click dungeon crawler game. It doesn't try to be anything else, it is what it is, so why make it out to be a boring game just because of that? That's like faulting the the first 3 Sonic games because all they consisted of was jumping on enemies. And yes, I know he's dubbed himself a 'professional troll' but come on. His earlier stuff was good, but really, he shouldn't have to resort to picking on a game because of the basic mechanics it uses and try to keep integrity as a real game reviewer. If the basic mechanics are simply broken (Ninjabread Man, Big Rigs, Superman 64 as examples) then feel free to say all you want. Otherwise it's just scraping the bottom of the barrel for complaints.

one of the things is he will often just say whether he likes a game at the very start, then regardless he will rag on it for the next five minutes.

its entertainment not a review, and he seemed to agree with me when i said that to him over a beer.

I like the AVGN just because it's loud and obnoxious at times. It's funny to me. Mostly I like it though because I learn of a shitty NES game... some of them I even suffered through, it's nice seeing someone share my pain... The terrible pain of a thousand souls burning... burning... BURNING!!! :p

But if you want another guy to check out. Look at LordKat. Pretty funny guy. He doesn't review games as much as he gives tips on those classic old games that are a bitch to beat. He's done Battle Toads, The NES TMNT game, and Bayou Billy (Pretty much to show Spoony that it isn't impossible... just a bitch to defeat) Some of his videos are better than others. His Dragon's Lair video was pretty much "Stand here... wait... move forward, stop..." over and over. Here's his link:

LordKat is okay. He's more of a walkthrough than a reviewer, which is strangely a more refreshing video to watch.

I actually enjoy Linkara too, even if I don't read comics.

If you like Spoony you probably know Linkara as well, who is my second favourite reviewer, the first being The Spoony One (and especially Dr. Insano. He is everything I aspire to be.) His comic reviews are always funny and have spawned some pretty awesome quotes.

"Of COURSE! Don't you know anything about SCIENCE?"

And not to forget "I AM A MAN!" *punch*

Though thinking about that, that's all from one review.
